Feel Somerset are going all out with the bat to try and win as normal, feel our bowling attack may let us down (again.....) this season. Really wanted us to use the other spot to sign an overseas keeper for T20, if Davies doesn't work out we're looking at Barrow or Trescothick behind the stumps again. Any of de Kock, AB, McCullum or Wade would have been very exciting.

Stupid idea, div 2 could now be settled on not having to play a club twice. I'd have created 3 divisions based on how the 2016 season finished. 1-6 = Div 1, 7-9 and 1-3 in Div 2 and then 4-9 in Div 2 would make the new Div 3. This would mean 10 games 4 day matches when playing home and away, a potential 16 days less of cricket and creates much more time for rest or 1 day cricket. I prefer T20 games are being clumped together (if 2 batches) as opposed to every Friday.

Thank goodness for that! As you can bet the franchises would have been staged at test match only grounds.

Michael Clarke coming out of retirement and looking to play shorter format of cricket, wants to play IPL, BBL and County Cricket, would be a good player for a county to get in, given Somerset have just signed Gayle maybe someone to approach for the other 6 games plus if they get through.

Before the Rogers announcement I wanted us to try and get Southee or Boult as overseas player.

Wouldn't be surprised for it to be a T20 player announcement, even if only for T20 I'd love to see us get a top class keeper, ABD, De Kock, McCullum or even Wade.

Seen on the video they do before matches, Gladwin has a clip of him scoring for Swindon, O'Donnell already has a clip too, but Baker is just the one where he's signed holding the shirt.

Shame he would have been quality. Should try and get AB de Villiers or Quinton de Kock imo both guys who would be impressive in T20 and could keep for us being an area where we could improve.

That really is 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained if you see how we played. However, very good performance away from home against a good team in this league, clean sheet and plenty to be positive about.

Not a bad half overall, very even and with us having the better of the chances.

Yeah Somerset confirming on their facebook page that Rogers is due to bat at 3. Rogers is an excellent overseas signing, however I don't really get the Davies one, unless they've seen something in his batting which means he's under performing, he's barely played FC cricket but averages 6 and can't see any big ish scores in his recent innings. If he's a great glovesman why not just stick with Bates? Got to think he will be #2 whether we bring in someone else as #1 or Barrow is given a go (hopefully not).

Also just from reading reports on their matches every now and then appears the 2nd team have a useful batsman or two, after Abell's season don't be surprised for Somerset to chuck a couple more in the 1's throughout next season.

May as well just sign Cooper on for next year as a spinner.... but yeah next seasons overseas player should be high quality to keep fans interested after the last couple of poor seasons and the whole Gayle situation, as I've said before I'd love to see us sign De Kock somehow on a season deal, good player across all 3 formats. Tom has said a left armer, definitely could be worth Somerset 'having a chat' with Shantry as he's only just down the road really.

Think we need some experience along with Gregory and the Overtons, Groenewald isn't really up to the standard required.

Cooper has a euro passport right? He'll be retained, has shown promise towards the end of the season, so another season should be in order incase it took him time to settle. As for overseas players, I wouldn't mind a seam bowler (Southee or Boult maybe if they can be persuaded), maybe a overseas keeper if we can't find a suitable domestic keeper. I do think somerset need to go for a star overseas player if just to give everything a lift. De Kock as a keeper, Ronchi maybe... Shane Watson considering player county cricket next year dare I say it.

Samit Patel called up for Ansari... ffs. If you wanted a spinner who was an all rounder then go for Borthwick as he may have an England future, picking a guy who for years couldn't be bothered to follow a fitness regime to try and play for his country raises questions over his motivation for me. Or if just a spinner then Craine, Riley, Kerrigan etc to take on tour for experience.
