Back in July I posted on here asking for support for our new stadium proposal.

To those of you who responded to our County Council survey I'd like to pass on the thanks of all Oxford United fans, as yesterday Oxfordshire County Council agreed to let us have the land. It's a massive step for us, as there has been a concerted campaign from local NIMBYS, Green Party activists, and yesterday even some loon who spoke at the council meeting saying it shouldn't be built as nuclear warheads are transported past the site and we could all die!

    Good news.

Just shows how ill informed some people are…

As someone who worked for a fair time at Aldermaston, I can assure you there are no live ‘warheads’ on the missile at the time it leaves the site to harm anyone, until it gets armed elsewhere, let alone be actually ready for use (God forbid!) by adding in the firing codes by the Government of the day.

  2. The Gas aren’t Pointless!

Just had a category on Pointless quiz show asking for teams with names not including City or United in their name.
A contestant suggested Bristol Rovers which got down to 5 points - which just shows how irrelevant they are in the world of football.

5 points or more might be their new target to beat for this season to be considered a success ?

    One other observation.

The clock is now supposed to show the actual time, the clock the scoreboard, whatever.

It stopped at 90 I think and at 45.

Further, they seemed to be showing the game on the big screen??

It’s bonkers why they stop it at 45 / 90 mins, why not run it until the added time is up?

This year the screen looks far to ‘busy’ with so much advertising etc on there it’s virtually a waste of time trying to make sense of what is worth looking at with numerous ads desperate to sell stuff rather than be a place for proper information to be shown - bring back the black and white placards around the edge of the pitch at half time!

  4. Everyone around me in W6 responded 100%.

Sounds like someone has a problem with more mature supporters, who may not be able jump up and down as much as they used to years ago, for some reason, but are still there supporting the club.

You do know they use more than one ball these days yeah?

    Of course ?

It’s bit of a farce when so many balls are in play during the match that they need to claim ‘the’ match ball.  They just as well get the one which is least marked.

  6. Are the above comments applicable to the ‘dynamic’ parking app that is now in place?

I drive in to the car park, scanned the app, put in for 1 he, saw the cost was £4 so drove out and parked by B&M (bought a small cheap item for less than £4 to keep them happy).

when I got home I looked and found this thread. As I saw from one reply that parking for 30 mins is free I put 15mins into the parking app - it still showed £4!

Why do these companies have to be so deceitful, they could quite easily display minimum cost or a free period of time.
Its just not customer friendly having to navigate your way around another parking app for just purchasing something in the cafe /  shop that only takes 15 mins.
It'll also be useful if retail staff asked customers if they’ve parked outside and the fact they need to add their registration into the system.

    I’d better not get a PCN…..

Who are these people starting these stories?  Who is financing it? Is the agenda purely to cause conflict amongst people to detract from major problems in the world?

Good spot of a crazy story in woke world.

It might be a bit conspiracy theory on my part but wars don’t just happen on a battlefield with guns.
These sort of actions could be state ‘actors’ putting these ideas forward to cause division, confusion and disruption in our society to fragment it and break it down leading to more disrespect for any authority which ultimately will make it easier for other countries to move in and take over when the country is really divided and fighting each other???

As for the commentators nice and what language are they speaking? Transitional transitions???

    Agreed.
‘Transitions and turnovers’ - why do they have to create new words for parts of a game which has been played for ages, is it just to make them feel superior?

Personally I prefer an apple turnover.

  9. To reward posters who are paid up, I suggest non members cannot post any comments after a defeat for at least 24hrs?

It’ll stop a lot of the knee jerk comments by posters who may have been prematurely celebrating a possible City win and come on here spouting more nonsense than I do.

If nothing else it’ll get a few more quid in to help support this great forum.

Edit - just renewed mine ?

In fairness the Radio Bristol guy (Hadwin, Hoskin, ??) always goes first and covers all the obvious questions ..... who's available, injuries, tactics, opposition strengths and playing style Alex Scott etc etc etc .....so by the time the next two get a go they're struggling to find something relevant to ask that Nige hasn't already answered.

Which is why I suggested they get together to stop asking the same questions and embarrassing themselves.

It’s easy to see why some managers become irritated during some press conferences. Twice Nige was asked the same question about Scott’s best position and in the past might he have reacted in an irascible fashion but he responded in a very calm and patient manner.

I really think that these journalists should come up with some more interesting questions.

100% agree -  which is probably why I posted an almost identical question (without seeing this one ?) on the Luton Town away match day thread.
