  1. Excellent post. The sort of reply I would expect from most level headed true Bristol football supporters.

I can't talk for anyone else on here but I personally don't give a toss about 'Bristol Football' or both clubs competing at the highest level. I only want Bristol City to do well. Does that make me a bad supporter?

  2. our new stadium is desperately needed by the city of Bristol ( ours wasn't of course ) out of 5 major local sporting clubs, bath rfc, Bristol rfc, Gloucestershire ccc Somerset ccc, and Bristol rovers afc, four of them publicaly supported our plans for a new stadium, guess which club did not ? now some gas heads have even got the nerve to claim that anybody who cares about Bristol sport must back their application

I think the Football Club themselves showed neither support or opposition towards AV which is probably what you would expect to be fair, given that they are in direct rivalry with us (unlike the cricket clubs for example).

If the tables were turned and we were a mid table league 1 club playing in a Rugby ground and Rovers had recently been on the brink of the Premiership, I wouldn't expect City to actively show support for anything that would potentially put our nearest neighbours even further ahead of us on and off the field, I include the World Cup bid in that.

I've stated my personal view on the War Memorial aspect of this situation in the past, so I'll leave it at that.

  3. Brighton fans have been watching him for years and they love him to bits. I had a quick look on their North Stand Forum and they seem gutted to see him go. You don't get that sort of praise from football fans for acting like a big pussy whilst just picking up a wage. I'm really happy with this signing.

Welcome to Bristol City Adam, you sound exactly like what we need.

  4. Are we really the biggest team in Bristol ? We took just over a thousand to Watford and the gas took almost 2 and a half thousand.

Ha, What the does that prove?

Shall we compare season ticket sales or average attendances over the last 100 years. They're same as every other team, play away against a much bigger club in the FA Cup and they take a good following, how many did they take to Crawley?

Fair play to them for taking 2000+ to a ground they've hardly been to in 20 years, fair play to us for taking 1000+ to a ground we go to most seasons.

  5.

Ask yourself - if you found yourself out of work - would you not take a job on offer, because you may 20 years ago have not liked the company???

I know I would. If I was a football coach, I would happily work for Bristol Rovers or Cardiff City if the money is right.

Even if it would massively piss off the people who love you? What about if a sizeable number of Rovers and Cardiff fans really don't like you, would that be an issue? remember you could find yourself in line for a better paid job somewhere else if you just sit tight and wait for the enevitable vacancies to appear.

As for Marcus Stewart, I doubt he publicly slagged off the Gas before going there. Neither Alan Walsh or John Ward are actual fans of City or Rovers, you can compare them to Holloway.

A lot of us really don't want him here and I don't believe for one second he would come, I'd be amazed if he's even been approached.

  6. Why the F would Holloway want this job? Possibly alienate his adoring Gas worshippers unless he fails miserably, in which case he would damage his own prospects of future employment.

Imo this really isn't a realistic option not just for the fact that it would upset a large portion of our fans but also because it doesn't make sense from Holloways perspective especially as there is bound to be Championship manager posistions up for grabs in the coming months.

  7. Why don't sainsburys buy the land for the new stadium instead, giving rovers sufficient finance to redevelop the mem to 15k all seater or something, lets face it that's all they will ever need.

Because they would then have two supermarkets next door to each other. There's already a Sainsburys near the UWE.

  8. what was the chant at the derby "we've got our stadium"?

oh how the chickens have come home to roost

One of the first topics posted on their forum when they were given the initial go ahead for their new stadium had a title along the lines of 'Send a message to Steve Lansdown'. As you can imagine there was little or no sympathy for our hold ups with AV on there.

This will all probably just be a delay for the UWE stadium but for the time being some of them must feel pretty dumb for gloating like they did.

As for any Gas morons thinking that SL has anything to do with this, surely this hold up puts him in a very difficult posistion as I imagine the vast majority of Bris Rugby fans want to stay at the Mem. He's not going to be very popular with them if tries to bring them to AG when their spiritual home, The Mem, could be there for the foreseeable future.

  9. Not a concern for me, living in BS3 even the Southville Green Councillor has said she's in favour of developing AG.

They can hardly support blocking AV and also oppose the alternative, can they?

True, I think 'concern' was probably the wrong word to use. I would hope any planning application for AG sails through just that you never know who's going to throw a spanner in the works.

  10. Just remember before you laugh that your "Redevelopment" has to go through the Planning people.

This is my main concern, no guarentees with planning applications.

It does amuse me however that there were plenty on the Gas forum slagging off KITR accusing him of being a wum, bitter, jealous etc.

Kid in the Riot maybe Kid in the Know.

  11. I don't know a single gashead who wanted city to beat hull in the play offs. I went to a city fans house to watch the game with my gas top on in bs3..

    Tip top day....

I think you have missed my point Pepsi.

Before the Play Off Final I seem to remember Holloway saying something along he lines of "it would be good for football in Bristol if City got promoted". I heard the same thing from other Gasheads. Of course it was a load of bollox, no Gashead would ever think its a good thing for City to promoted and City fans are the same regarding Rovers.

I had more respect for Rovers fans who cut the bullsh1t and said from the outset they were desperate for Hull to win.

People think Holloway has mellowed in his dislike for City because of what he says on the TV and his comedy jester antics at the Gate. I'm saying that I don't buy it.

  12. I'm on my phone and was intending to report it but the icons aren't very obvious. Believe me, I don't like comparing anyone to a paedophile.

I don't mean to piss on your moral bonfire of righteousness but nobody actually called Holloway a paedophile...you were the one who brought up Gary Glitter's sexual preferences. Whatever 'Tinnion for England' meant, all he actually said was that they both dance like tits and he doesn't like either of them.

  13. He 'cares about our plight' in the same way any City hating gashead cares about it - he'll be laughing his hollow, skeletal head off!!

    Spot on imo.

Im sorry OP but I think it's naive to believe that any Gashead wishes the best for Bristol City.

They talk the talk of course, like before the Hull Play Off final when they were all saying that it would be good for Bristol to have a team in the Prem (just in case we did it) but the reality is that Dean Windass will be just as much a permanent fixture in Ollys 'wankbank' as he is for those scruffy looking Gypsies on that Tote End Reunion video.

  14. I don't know if the eight Pompey players tearing up their contracts will be enough to keep Portsmouth in business as I haven't really followed the situation in great detail. However, if the opportunity is there for them to become heroes at the expense of personal gain it will be fascinating to see what option they choose.

Will they conform to the stereotype of modern footballers being greedy b*stards?
