I would suggest the very definition of tinpot is rush releasing a commemorative mug to celebrate winning a league match in August 2-1
Just a reminder that they did this back in August

Didn't someone post a while back that we had the second ' easiest' run in?
Still...you've still got to beat what's in front of you I guess.
We failed miserably on the last ‘easy’ run of fixtures we had. Some progress then so credit to Liam and his team.

I can’t right a players higher than another? Okay. Sorry.
Ps, easy with the emojis, you’re gunna run out of them. Supporting the forum only cost a fiver. Maybe it’s time?
Anyone who can’t see that they’re different players clearly doesn’t understand football

Quality isn’t he. I said a few months ago that I actually rated him more than Pring. Of course, it was followed by about 15 facepalms . Love it.
Can’t wait for next season! CANT WAIT.
We need Twine.
Possibly because you were directly comparing the two when there is no need.

Storming up the league

I enjoyed watching that. Having done so, I’m still confused as to why the man, Mr Nigel Graham Pearson, is not liked or respected by all here. An absolute gent.

Probably not, because we’re consistently risk averse.
Appointing Dean Holden, FFS.
Alkmaar aren’t a big club, so if we wanted we could appoint this “type”, who could turn out to be the next De Zerbi or the next Jan Siewert, but we never do.
Would love to see it. Unfortunately it’s usually the same names and types that crop up whenever there is a vacancy.

I don’t imagine he was ever seriously linked with the job here.

India isn’t exactly the same is it?
Pub league standard.
He hasn’t gone near a job at a serious level since.
Of course it’s not the same. Pub league standard is being kind. But it’s still football, as was working for Crawley and Portsmouth.

I watched Coppell’s ATK team in India a few years ago. He had a few jobs for someone who walked away from football when he quit here.

This was against Birmingham wasn't it? Unless I'm thinking of another goal / my mind is playing tricks on me. From near the halfway line in front of the old Williams stand?
You’re possibly thinking of Trundle vs Birmingham 2008/09?

Clue is in who hosts it....I am sure all the Nige groupies will love it whilst damning the club and all things bitchy like hair loss, snakes etc yet nothing to do with any common sense or football.
You will love it .
A bit of respect for Mr Pearson, and our fans, please. Thank you.

I don't think Nige would fire shots at SL even if he's entitled to.
I reckon he'll say things like, "We felt that we'd laid the foundations for success", "Year on year improvement", "Confident that we could have acheived given time", "Chairman/board saw it differently", "Fans and players believed in what we were doing", "Nothing surprises me in football these days."
Yes. Mr Pearson is a gentleman and would gain nothing from slagging off the owners. He’ll likely say it as it is though

Without VAR, nobody questions the decision to award the goal.
I wonder how many key moments in football history would look very different with lines drawn over them.
Got no issue with technology assistance for the referee but it’s not in place of the referee and linesmen.
I’ve not watched a great deal of football with VAR so perhaps I don’t understand it. But if it could be used for clear and obvious errors that would be great.
The best use of VAR imo is for penalty reviews and identifying those who have tried to con the referee. The Coventry goal yesterday isn’t an example of that.

Looking quite likely we'll finish 12th. That is progress, is it not?
Ultimately a league table reflects how good you are versus other clubs.
Other teams results against each other are out of our control though. I’d settle for lower league position if we still made progress on points total. If we get both then great.
-
Vyner and Dickie have rightly kept him out of the team. You lose so much if you don’t play Pring. Not that he’s in direct competition with Pring anyway.
I do feel that left sided centre back is his best position. He’s just cool as a cucumber.

We wanted performances. That was one.
Well done all.- 1

Humble pie back in the oven for now. Still need to see improvement.

And just like that all the positivity coming from the club vanishes in a puff of smoke.
This is why a good performance was so important today.
