Another fad - I remember when players started wearing "cycling shorts" underneath their usual shorts (late 80's?). The one that annoys me most is long sleeved base layers under a short sleeved jersey, it looks crap bring back to good old long-sleeved jersey (see also short-sleeved GK jerseys, they just look wrong with gloves)
See also those daft across the nose things in the 90s

Ross McCrorie is a bit of a dilemma because he was bought to be a Tanner replacement once he was fit from injury (from what I believe) but Tanner has been playing great under Manning and McCrorie doesn't look natural further up the field
It’s a squad game. Don’t think he was ever bought as a replacement.

(Been looking for a reason to use that title for a while).
Was looking at the Oxford forum this morning - interestingly enough they’re having the same debate as seems to be on here, but also have the added piece of a Des Buckingham stay/go poll (and he’s been in place shorter than Liam!). Mentally, he hasn’t even had an assistant to date.
https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/des-buckingham.10056/page-98
Its quite interesting to read through - it wasn’t totally helpful (although was in part) not long after Liam left Oxford as it was a bit raw for them but now there are a few cooler heads on his reign and there is a lot of comparative between him and Buckingham style wise, circumstance wise.
Just a bit to read from the angle of having lost Manning and see what you’ve lost as opposed to what you’ve gained in the appointment
Hopefully the unbelievers will soon be convinced

In my opinion, the best centre forward we have had since Cheesley. Power, scored from outside the box, poacher and could bang them in with his head
Loved him to bits but Cole, Akinbiyi, Abraham even Kodja scored more goals at Championship level for us and surely were simply better players?

Life’s rich tapestry / everyone’s entitled to their opinion. No really they are.
But the 27 likes and rising for the post suggest to me the silent majority are nodding sagely at their screens once again.

I’m not convinced he’s some sort of number 10; he’s not super creative or a regular scorer. But a bit deeper and he’s a monster.

Because Cam Pring won't be a City player for much longer after that performance tonight.
MM love your optimism - see also the ‘best we’ve ever played’ thread.
But I think there’s the tiniest chance of rose tinted glasses on both threads

Was this a sarcastic post? He was atrocious, starting with penalising Mccrorie for skinning two of their players. Weirdest decision I can remember in a long time

He actually does a bit of research, is articulate and doesn’t unnecessarily hype the merely good. Low bar but he easily clears it.

Thought on a few occasions he looked very rusty but boy did I like the positive intent!

We’ve played two teams that have sat back and we couldn’t create anything. Not a huge surprise as it’s been like that for ages. The players we have cannot do that but they weren’t bought because they could
And then throw in 4 games in 11 days which must cause a bit of lethargy, when speed of thought and movement are the things needed to break down packed defences. And absolutely, this is still really Nige’s team which was set up to be pacy and counter attacking.

God, I’ll get my tin hat ready. I thought he was a bit loose defensively. He did some great stuff, but he got caught by quite a few long balls tonight. He’s generally the “cover” do Dickie can go tight. I thought that part of his game was a bit off tonight.
So a good performance for me, not brilliant and not a MOTM contender imho.
Similar to that Norwich goal. I think his biggest issue remains concentration (just occasionally) which used to be his big issue (regularly). That said most of the time now he looks like a Rolls Royce.

Went to Millwall 20 off years ago and had to sit in the main stand as the City end was all ticket. City go 2-0 up in the second half and the away end are reminding Millwall of the score. The chap behind me then gets up and shouts at the away end……
’Why don’t you all **** off back up north’!
i didn’t feel like giving him a geography lesson tbh.

20 years ago would it have been a notable issue?
It seems a bit unprecedented for this..how much flak do Vardy and Sharp get?
Respectfully, not sure why 20 years ago is relevant?

All tactics aside it seems to me that the franchise’s fall from grace last season wasn’t an uncommon scenario, in that teams who lose in the play offs often have a lag at the start of the next season. Now you can argue about how long it should happen for and whether the manager takes some blame, but the point is it does happen. I guess it’s part the difficulty of getting yourself to ‘go again’, plus sometimes players are sold off if promotion doesn’t happen so the team weakens.
And I acknowledge that yes it isn’t guaranteed and there are plenty of clubs who still do well the following season.
