  1. I see their “big” (in more ways than one) summer signing worked out well then… https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joey-barton-speaks-ahead-brett-6599512.amp
  2. Because he’s incredibly needy?
  3. This is better: https://sweardle.com Warning: it is what you think it is, Wordle with swearing.
  4. Still going. Run every day 2021 happened but it was a slog by the end and not that enjoyable - hit about 4000 km but felt I was forcing myself to do it by the end to get Stravas monthly km and elevation challenges. Have eased off a bit this year - still every day (currently!) but not pushing the distance and won’t go if I don’t feel up to it (hasn’t happened yet). Doing a lot more shorter ones and even running with the other half - running and enjoying it again, not because I feel I have to. Pace coming back a bit as a result of all that and twinges easing. However. I’m obsessive compulsive and on nearly a 500 day overall streak. I may tell myself I’ll quit it but that’s not happening really!

  6. The word “ask” is doing a lot of optimistic heavy lifting there…
  7. Off the top of my head: Alex Ferguson is the obvious although I admit that’s some time ago. More recently, you’d be able to say Dean Smith when going from Brentford to Villa, Ryan Lowe when going from Bury to Plymouth, Mourinho from Porto to Chelsea, Chris Wilder when going from Northampton to Sheffield United and the aforementioned Alex Neil from Hamilton to Norwich. Also Paul Lambert from Colchester to Norwich. It’s all relative and money is a factor but each left the new club in a better position than they found it having left as a success at the prior club. There will be more - that’s just a quick think through
  8. “I wanna know oooooooo Why you’ve got no song”
  9. @Fordy62! Reading the statement, I think it’s that they have established through the questioning of Greenwood they have enough to extend the potential charges, and as opposed to having to give a charge/no charge in the normal timeframe, the additional charges are both a way to increase (correctly assumedly) what he may be on the hook for and subsequently allow further time to hold him. The statement still refers to one victim, so it must continue to relate to his (hopefully ex) partner.
  10. Has been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
  11. Interesting side. Return of the lesser spotted James Morton and Simpson/Wells/Bell/Conway in
  12. Not quite sure the point you’re trying to make here. If Greenwood has done what it appears he has (and the evidence is compelling), he deserves a long stretch inside. Collymore not being punished for hitting Ulrika is neither here nor there.
  13. Which again, is why I think we go for it. Not by overspending, but retaining and adding sensibly. @Steve Watts will tell you I called Scott’s value months ago. He’s £20m. Easily. It’s chicken feed for some prem clubs for an 18 year old in the international setup with (what he will have) of 40 games and combined double digits assists/goals at Champ. That’s Spurs catnip. And it will be in a year. But if we retain him for a year that value doesn’t drop. And FFP is still not a problem. So we go for it next year, as opposed to selling. It’s totally set up for that.
  14. I think my logic here is twofold - momentum and talent. We’ve “turned the ship around”. The momentum is forward, undoubtedly. You see this in less talented squads - momentum, and teamwork, is key. You only have to look at GJ in 2008 for that. Momentum takes you high. So, talent. I genuinely don’t believe there is a better 3 in midfield at this level than Scott, Massengo and Williams. I think Semenyo has potential to be top level. Kalas is top six. Bentley is better than Max and is top 10. Weimanns goals put him top level this year, before you add the team value. The fact is you don’t need the best 11 players to go up. You need 5/6 well managed and supported. We have that. (and no, I’m not drunk. I’ve seen this coming for a few weeks, but bizarrely a loss to Luton and draw vs Preston tipped me over the edge)
  15. We’re going up next season. I know this was a three year plan, and we’re 1/3 through it. But I think it’s accelerating. Nobody could have believed Alex Scott would come in and be a top class Championship CM after this long. Massengo maybe, but his trajectory is off the chart. Nobody at the start of this season thought Semenyo could be a beast up front. Nobody at the start of this season thought Pring, excepting an error today, could be this good. Nobody saw Benarous coming. We’re currently at 18 months stage when we should be at 9. Check the trajectory. It’s insane. All we need is maturity, and that comes with games, which is happening. A couple of smart additions and we’re there. We’ve just dominated 3 games on the bounce. But more than that, it’s the thinking of where we were in November. Its clicking. it’s coming. Put your tenners on.
  16. Just about to post the same. It appears to originate in the Sun. So you know it’s bollocks.
  17. If they don’t tweet “The roof is Klosed” they all deserve the sack.
  18. Incidentally, Mark Labett is called the beast not because he’s a big imposing bastard, but due to the French translation of his name. Damn Enlightning this thread!
  19. But, as the answer is Clayton Blackmore, that means your reading is wrong and pedantry wins again!
  20. @Oh Louie louie preparing for an evening out…
  21. One of my small pleasures is each Tuesday in the Guardian reading Squires cartoon based on recent football events. It’s sharp, a bit political, and full of references. The downside of him being a Swindon fan is outweighed by his work. Anyway, guess who’s in this week… https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2022/jan/25/david-squires-on-drones-ghost-ships-and-a-weird-premier-league-weekend?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
