  1. Pfft. Rovers have been doing their bit for the pandemic by limiting their attendances to 1/3 of that.
  2. You should try Wings. They’re only the band the Beatles could have been.
  3. …in the Stoke building. Allegedly. (Incidentally why is Alan Nixon “reluctant Nicko”? Is he ashamed of his family?)
  4. I had to use the Nuffield Health one before I went to Cyprus last month. Daughter had the test at 5pm, results at about 8pm. Cost £120. Park in the hotel (£5) and it’s before the departure gates. The only thing is whether they’re bookable to take on return - IIRC the passenger locator form asked for a booking reference, so as long as that’s provided, I would imagine it’ll work
  5. No, went freelance about a month ago. Still comments on city on Twitter.
  6. Lose some weight! And some height!
  7. The offer last week was pretty good - full kids kit with personalisation for £50. They also did 20% off after the Barnsley game. Appears this offer is the worst of the lot!
  8. It took me a couple of reads to get it - it’s similar to how far you can go back in city history in the fewest steps but using the “fan” as the start point (as we’re all current). So in your example you go from now back to Tainton, and Tainton then takes you back another x years. If we were doing players, it’d be something like Vyner to Bryan to Carey and so on. That it?
  9. Agree - he was totally committed. And the number of times the ball to him from CM was on was huge. I think those highlighting “the throw in” situation are betraying prejudice against a wholehearted performance- which I agree, hasn’t always been evident
  10. Pleased to see this. Few points: - His getting the fullback a card was genius shithousing. He was a yard into our half, two players in front of him and stopped to get the challenge. He already had the better of him, and got a card from a “low chance” situation - The throw in. Our tactic is Kalas long throw. He had no real back up had he kept it in, so again, intelligent - The goal. Lucky somewhat, but the ball to Weimann for the 1-2 again, top notch. He was second only to Williams for me today
  11. Re Massengo - I wonder if Nige wants one “destroyer” and there is no chance Williams should start both today and Weds to protect him. So my theory is that it’s Williams over Massengo today, with the latter in vs Stoke
  12. Ah, so you’re after the Low-Down I'll get me coat
  13. Allegedly old Joe Barton started getting involved in fisticuffs with the Grecians bench post final whistle. Personally, I’d be shocked.
  14. George Elekobi at right back with Benik and Velicka up front. Dani Rodrigues playing at number 10
  15. I wonder. We all know Ashton was a frustrated footballer. Was this his plan in employing Rolls all along?
  16. Few points: 1. DCL is known for extravagant dress sense. What this has done is raised his profile far in excess of the fee from the magazine, and the magazine getting publicity far in excess of the fee paid to him. In marketing/media that’s called a win:win 2. It matters not if you think it’s manly or not. I wouldn’t wear it because, to be frank, it’d look shit on me. I don’t think it looks great on him but see (1) - he’s getting publicity and money to do so, so more power to him. People who have a problem with him wearing it are just a bit odd. 3. On the schools thing - I seem to say a lot on the politics forum, the plural of anecdote is not data. One headteacher, one school, doesn’t make some conspiracy to degender every child. In fact, it makes news because it is the exception - and often for a reason (as in the solidarity example) that gives more than the headline. Personally, I have no issue in LGBTQ being taught at the time sex education is in schools. But there aren’t reams of 6 year olds being taught about terfs etc… Short version: fair play to him, if you’re offended it says more about you than it does about him, and there aren’t hordes of people out to encourage your kids to go trans.
  17. U23s player, Joe Low, who was on loan at Eastleigh (conference) been recalled with immediate effect. Played 8 times there in two months. Cant see it being a recall to add to our options (would have thought Towler would be back in advance - he’s been getting good reviews), but seems an odd one as he can’t be loaned to a higher level until January.
  18. I had a vague memory of something of this nature happening before - bizarrely it stuck in my head that we’d played Barnsley and I thought the women played first, but they actually played Brighton post the men’s game: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39681629 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39604660 1,100 stayed to watch the women. Also, some classic LJ b*locks about Jaffa Cakes.
  19. Couple of quick points: - One word I do associate heavily with Pearson is integrity. I can quite believe he’d offer to resign if he thought it was the best thing for the club bearing in mind the situation. - That being said, I don’t think, as most don’t, that having NP out for an indeterminate term and no interim is tenable. As an organisation, Bristol Sport have been here before - Matt Beard taking over from Tanya Oxtoby. There is absolutely nothing wrong with short term help, and it’s best for all parties
  20. I think the problem is the 2+2 here. I don’t think it’s disrespectful in any way to muse that a man who has had Covid twice, is financially secure, has a life outside football and I think suffered a family bereavement recently may decide, for want of a better term, he doesn’t need this shit and it’s impacting his health. (Against that, he clearly deeply wants to do the job or why else bomb out Downing and Simpson) When those factors are in place, it’s quite easy for a believable rumour to be concocted that he has to step down due to ill health. And that’s where the 2+2 is, and the line probably is. It’s the difference between someone musing if his health is ok to stay in the job, and someone (not you), starting a rumour that he has to go due to ill health.
  21. “Great Boo’s up Edmund”…
  22. Webster - not because I dislike Atkinson, but the Kalas/Webster axis was quality and AW brought TK up Bryan - We’re short at LB of real intent down that side. I don’t think he’s necessarily the best defender, but he provides an all round left side Smith - it’s ironic that we let Smith go because we had Williams, and in part due to injuries. We then get Williams and he’s permanently injured while Korey is fit Brownhill - In hindsight, one of the worst bits of business we did was selling Josh and buying Wells. Wells hasn’t clicked and didn’t fit with our system at the time, and we ended up spending most of the Josh fee on an asset with no resale value that was a square peg in round hole Reid - Now, in the side below that means no real height but I would look at the passing and energy Bobby especially would bring, and it gives us what is lacking at the moment If we then lined up… Bentley Tanner-Kalas-Webster-Bryan Brownhill-Smith -Williams - HNM Weimann- Reid Its work rate, it’s aggressive, it’s pace. It’s an improved version of the Man Utd team tbf Notably only one NP signing there, and it’s because I think those five would improve us in other areas over RB. Atkinson unlucky and James on bench.
