  1. Has it been five years already? The comedy seems to have lasted a lifetime...
  2. Went out this morning and with wind chill at the start it was -9. That’s just basically insane. I intentionally went a route where if I got too cold I could double back earlier, but intent was to time it so I ran door to door, as the walk is what’s the killer at present. Other half’s got loads of aches as well at the moment - I think it might be down to the weather in large part as you’re effectively trying to run a muscle that is frozen stiff. That can’t be good.
  3. I went out just before 8am. Phone suggested it was -1 but felt -5. Took 3k to get warmed up and feeling in hands, ok once running but as soon as you stop and not running on adrenaline any more...jeez that’s cold!
  4. Nah, fifth rejection in a row. Just like my dating days...
  5. And here’s predictable gas... Huge club. Huge fan base. Huge tossers.
  6. Meanwhile, Viz nails it for all of us...
  7. That last bits the absolute truth! I’ve been sat pondering when I do today’s route again, as I’m now kicking myself for not extending into the village and Petty France! The great thing about running is that you see somewhere and think “Not been there, is it strikeable?” And you go. Seen so much more of the area (and the world, pre lockdown) than I ever would before I started this rubbish!
  8. I think mental hill climbing was the order of the day today. Thought to myself “Not been to Somerset monument before, might run there”. Vertical. The stupid thing was that it was 10k into a HM so after killing my legs I had another 10 to go. Currently unable to move on the sofa!
  9. Being reported that Matt Beard is taking over as head coach during Oxtobys maternity leave. Previously manager of Liverpool and West Ham
  10. Well, I ended up rounding off the year with a HM. Kind of Withnail-ish in that it was supposed to be 10k but I decided that my planned route would be too lethal so had to extend! Finished the year on 4,119km. A few five a sides and easier paced walks in that but reckon I met my target of average 10k run a day and there’s at least 3660 km of pure runs/jogs in there. Love to get up to marathon next year dependent on time available - not always easy with kids to get out for longer trots. Congrats all and HNY!
  11. Nope. If you zero in, the Bradley Stoke total cases is 114. c45 of those are from a primary school outbreak
  12. BCFC women’s manager, Tanya Oxtoby, just announced her pregnancy. Congratulations - and may mean a new manager is sought for the mat leave period at least!
  13. The BBC appear to have formed their opinions on Rovers’ ability to get a disproportionate amount of penalties...
  14. I would think so using the England/Wales example - she’s travelling for work which can’t be done from home which would be classed as essential and therefore was ok cross border during the “firebreak” - no reason to doubt any different here. However, I don’t then believe you would be able to book a table at said restaurant to meet her after work (or the restaurant shouldn’t knowingly let you), as the meal would involve unnecessary travel. At least, that’s my best interpretation from precedent to date...
  15. Yep, knew that part. I was more thinking that the maximum you can get in (say) Old Trafford and The Emirates is the same as you can get in Brunton Park or The Bescot, which looks odd so it has to be around the transit of people to the ground as opposed to the spacing in the stadium once you get to the 2k/4k
  16. Few thoughts (one expressed earlier) - I can’t find anywhere any news on whether at step 7 or below the prior guidance still holds (I.e. the likes of Yate Town, Taunton, BMF can let fans in irrespective of tier) - anyone seen any info on this? - The “straight line” 4000 looks odd when it’s 40% of the Memorials capacity but only about 15% of Ashtons. Assume it’s more to do with managing movement around the area than in the ground though - I can’t see any logical way that the guidance will allow someone from a higher tier area to travel to a game in a lower tier, or it defeats the object of local restrictions - Its also debatable whether people should or will be allowed to travel across areas fullstop. Even if (say) city of Bristol and North Somerset are both tier 2, then you’re still asking for non essential travel between defined areas. If everyone is sourced from the same “tier” area as the ground you negate that somewhat So, I reckon my starter is that if we are allowed fans by our tiering, it may only be open to fans local to Ashton/in the Bristol City area. I’d love to be wrong as I live in Yate and can’t wait to get back but the selling to only people in the exact region of the ground seems too obvious a regulation not to apply.
  17. I think there may be a lot of nuances. I’m in South Glos, let’s say for example I’m in tier 3 and Ashtons in tier 2 - assumedly, I can’t attend even if it’s my rotation game. Even if I’m tier 2 and Ashtons tier 2, as non essential travel can I attend?
  18. I see they’re playing Chelsea U23 at the moment. Chelsea including Billy Gilmour and Danny Drinkwater. Wael must be punching himself in the face.
  19. Years ago, just after Tisdale had signed for us from Soton, I took a call from him at my work. Spoke for about 20 minutes - really nice guy, intelligent, articulate and as has been said, immaculately dressed and plays decent football. They’ll think he’s a witch.
  20. He was, finished his career. In fairness, I believe Robbo was implying he listened to Darren on the radio in the car as opposed to Darren boring him witless in the vehicle itself.
  21. ****ing hell. Darren sounded on the verge of suicide every time he was interviewed at Yeovil. Asking him to manage Rovers in a pandemic at what with all the tents could double for a field hospital may just finish him off.
  22. Tbf, you’d think he’d come cheap as all he’d ask for would be a greggs open tab. However, that could end up being verrry expensive:
  23. The thread on their forum seems to suggest they want LJ or Paul Cook.
