  1. Best we’ve played for a long time. Nagy looks over his injury and back to his form when he joined. Weimann and O’Dowda on the wings which is the formation we should have gone with on Sunday. Got to keep focus in defence as Forest attack is dangerous.

  3. Actually, thinking about it, once you say to one group of staff please keep working with a 20% pay cut it kind of follows that the ones who are furloughed will have the same reduction. Otherwise the ones still working would be mightily cheesed off - they’d be working for less whereas the ones not having to work would still be on full pay. In terms of the players, of course we don’t know what the terms of the 30% deferral are. It might only be recouped if certain financial conditions are met.
  4. I haven’t read anywhere that we are paying them only 80 percent. A lot of companies will be still be paying furloughed staff full pay and claiming 80 percent back from the Govt. Looks like the players and staff who aren’t furloughed are taking pay cuts/deferrals. Overall this gets us through the period of hardly any income without having to make staff redundant.
  5. This (below) was the bit from the Times that the Sky article above mentioned. Yes banning events is also mentioned but I don’t think it necessarily means all events over 500 people will be banned for two years. However, given the experts were saying the peak of the virus here is expected to be end May to mid June, if the season is to be completed, I can only see that taking place Aug-Oct when the previous season would usually have started. Have a break/transfer window after that. You then finish next season later - or shorten like others have said by only playing each team once or splitting the Divisions into North and South regions with play offs afterwards. ”Police will be able to detain infected people and schools could be forced to stay open under a package of powers being announced next week to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Emergency laws to help to limit the spread of the virus will be introduced after the number of people infected in Britain rose by 200 in 24 hours to 798. The measures, seen by The Times, will also let councils lower standards in care homes to deal with staff shortages. The legislation, which ministers intend to push through parliament in two weeks, will equip the government to deal with the disease. Ministers believe that the virus will infect the majority of the population, and the laws will stay in place for two years.“
  6. I can’t see the season restarting at all given we’re still 10-14 weeks from the peak. I reckon it will be ‘season abandoned’ as if it never happened. In that scenario, glad we’re not in the top 6! And glad we’re not Liverpool!
  7. It sounded more the balance with behavioural science than economics. They said peak is still 10-14 weeks away. Lock down is tough and they will want it to be working effectively right across and after the peak. Not lock down too early because the behavioural science says people won’t sustain it for that long.
  8. Spot on. Agree that the concern is for the highest risk groups and also ensuring that the NHS can cope by delaying the peak to as far away from Winter as possible (because NHS is under most pressure in Winter). If NHS can cope better that also helps patients who need treatment for something that has nothing to do with coronavirus. So yes most people will have mild symptoms but that’s not the point. If everyone was at high risk then clearly we would be in lockdown far earlier and longer.

  10. Just had an (unfortunate) thought: what if we make it to the play offs and then we win the playoffs and make it to the Premier League all behind closed doors? Haven’t fully decided what I think about that yet, although I think I’d prefer they postponed the play off final in that situation. It would be very strange finally making it to the PL with no fans there. Hopefully it won’t come to pass (the behind closed doors part, although the play offs part is also become more unlikely looking at other results this afternoon).
  11. Yes the station was mentioned when the Ashton Gate phase 2 plans (which also included those houses) were announced. See from 4.40 on this video:
  12. Positive news. Where was Ashton Gate station precisely - interested to know how far away from the ground it would be compared to Parson St?
  13. BCTV audio not working for me. The app just takes me to a black screen and via internet it won’t load. Perhaps for the best though as we’re winning!
  14. Really good goal. Weimann won the initial header from the throw in on the left touch line and then popped up on the far post to score.
  15. I had the email as well. Glad I’m not alone! The 5 point preview was riveting, especially this bit which made me chuckle: "Blackburn have won the Premier League for example so managing them in League One comes with sky-high expectations - similar to managing Bristol Rovers in the Conference!"
  16. Tough to take but we’ve had a great December. Need to have a look at our defensive walls at free kicks though - both v Man U and tonight it seemed to go straight through our wall.
  17. Despite the FA, I am feeling strangely confident. I’m not convinced we will see Tomlin today either.
  18. Think I'd rather see COD on left as he is all left foot. On the right tonight, he was always cutting inside and going across the pitch rather than driving forwards outside his marker to cross from the byline.
