Who said those comments though?
All I’ve seen from actual Fleetwood fans is that they are surprised, disappointed and say that the problems at the club run much deeper. Some even wondering if he walked rather than was sacked!
The negative comments are all from Hibs, Sunderland and still weirdly Villa fans.
Even if all the Fleetwood fans are singing his praises, which I can’t imagine to be true, it’s significant that his reputation at the last two “big” clubs he managed is still negative.

Some comments from fans aren’t complementary:
“Just give up mate. You're not meant to be a manager."
“How do you get sacked twice in the same season before the new year? Please, ffs, no one ever give him a job again. Worst manager in the world."- 2

Plus way back Herbert Chapman was the first to introduce hooped socks at Arsenal as he thought players are mainly looking down when the ball is at their feet so usually see the boots and socks of the fellow players first. Thus if teammates are wearing hooped socks that catches the eye that bit quicker than plain socks.
The modern equivalent is players wearing pink boots, though I’m sure they do it for totally different reasons than Herbert Chapman cunning plan

Teams play in their away kit on a regular basis when there is no colour clash. It’s due to one thing - money. Clubs want to sell as many away shirts as possible and the more they are worn the more they sell

I said earlier in the thread that everything about Birmingham is dull and drab. The first 45 minutes confirms this. It just needs City to create and take a chance to put some pressure on Birmingham. If they go one down the natives might become restless.
-
There is something about Birmingham that’s just dull and drab. The City, the ground and the teams over the years just been awful. Now there’s Rooney to throw into the mix and he’s dull, as a manager, as well. I find it very difficult to look forward to a Birmingham match with any enthusiasm. This time it could be different because of City’s recent wins but I don’t want to be too positive as that would be tempting fate.

In theory Torquay should be challenging Yeovil at the top of the league but they have a lot of injuries. This post from their forum yesterday:
“This is an interesting subject and to put some flesh on the bones I have looked at the season to date.
Excluding Dawson who has yet to play I looked at 7 players who if fit would start with 1 possible exception.
Asa Hall. Club Captain. Has played only 6 League games out of 23. Sub 2 Games.
Tom Lapslie. 11 games in the League but injured on 5 Dec via Weymouth in 27th minute.
Aaron Jarvis. 13 games but injured in 95 min at WSM on 24th October. Knee injury likely out for 3 months.
Finlay Craske. 11 games 3 of which were as a sub. Injured at H & R 28th October.
Jack Stobbs 20 games until appeared to pull a hamstring via Weymouth on 5th December.
Brad Ash. 21 games but sustained a stress fracture via Weymouth on 5 December.
Will Jenkins Davies. Ever present 11 games until injured at Hemel Hempstead on 23rd Sept.
Recently returned to fitness.
In the circumstances I think we have done well to be in 3rd place at Christmas.” -

I have absolutely no idea why he’s still in the game.
Bit like someone who had a couple of massive hits in the 80s now playing gigs in a South Bristol pub.
He’s probably in his late 60s now & obvious what he once had doesn’t work anymore.
Still our most successful manager since Alan Dicks though & his achievements at Yeovil are phenomenal.
John Otway regularly plays (if you can call it playing) at the Thunderbolt on the Bath Road and he’s great. Admittedly it’s an acquired taste. Cor baby that’s really free!

I’ve already booked a hotel at Wembley to stay overnight after the playoff final. I don’t want to drive back after a big celebration.

Another Christmas Steps fact - Graham Manning had a very good Mod style shop at the top of Christmas Steps in the 60s

Oh no - other people have had the same greeting as me! I’m distraught as I thought it was a personal message, just to me, to thank me for putting up with my years of suffering.

I thought he had a good game but long-term he needs to add a bit of variety to his game. When he gets the ball near the penalty area he usually cuts inside onto his right foot to shoot or cross. It worked tonight and he hit the post against Sunderland but soon teams in the will get wise to his style of play. He just needs to go outside the defender occasionally. He can do it

Yeah, I’ve never been to a senior reds lunch, though sadly I do qulaify, but I remember when Steve L used to do a Q&A at an away ground every year it was very much something that he didn’t want reporting and I think banned all media attending.I'm not sure if this is similar but I don’t recall any other of their meetings getting a comprehensive report. Perhaps regulars can shed more light
I used to go to Senior Reds lunches and have heard Steve Lansdown answer questions. He didn’t want anything reported because what he said was his honest option and some of the things were confidential and / or a bit controversial. That was in the days when he was interested in the club. That was a bit different to the recent Hen & Chicken and Senior Reds events where the answers were just waffle

I'm bored of saying it but Nige is really unwell and couldn't properly carry out his duties. I hate the City board as everyone will know, but I do have sympathy with them on this point. Nige probably had to go.
Na, I'm talking unpopular with general staff.
If JL had taken the easy option and said we’ve got to replace Nige because he’s unwell and can’t do the job it would have been accepted by the supporters. Maybe not happy, but excepted. Instead there were a host of convoluted reasons given which just didn’t stack up.

It’s worth mentioning that Ray Cashley, City’s keeper, scored against Hull in September 1973 with a kick from his own penalty area. It was a very windy night, a bit like the forecast for tomorrow. Unfortunately I can’t see O’Leary repeating the feat as he just doesn’t have the feet

Stuff it, I am going back to the links instead then

I can’t be the only one who thought Hinds was gonna go on to be a championship regular after his performances in the cup ?
I can remember that game, and he was good. Unfortunately it was just a flash in the pan. A lot of players are like that - they produce one brilliant game now and then but just haven’t got the consistency to forge a successful league career

@robinforlife2 I very much doubt that Harry Cornick is on more than what what Chris Martin was on. Martin signed pre-Covid. Martin had also become disruptive according to Nige through lack of game time.
At the time, Cornick seemed a sensible signing. It hasn’t gone to plan. It hasn’t cost us a fortune and he still contributes, just not as much as we’d hoped.
Had Cornick not had a heavy touch on Saturday, most on here had been saying that he’s been playing a bit better and vying for a start because he’s been doing alright off the bench.
But we let one action put him back to square one in peoples minds!
That’s the whole point - he did have a heavy touch. For all his effort he just hasn’t got the skill and goal scoring instinct City need
