  1. Who wants Manning out? I’ve seen a few posts of frustration but I’ve not seen a single one wanting him sacked?
  2. Completely with you @CliftonCliff. I fully expect it to be someone mediocre, and to be completely underwhelmed. And the cycle of disappointment of being a passionate fan of BCFC to continue unabated. God I feel cheerful this morning
  3. Such a sad and needless situation. Pearson was and is exactly what this club needs and I have a horrible feeling we’ll really miss him. Christ knows who we’ll get to replace him but they’ll be hard pushed to achieve anywhere near the level of popularity that Nige has with the fans here.
  4. This is exactly the kind of appointment I expected when Pearson was sacked. Lower league man who will toe the line, not rock the boat, and tell everyone what great owners the Lansdowns are at every opportunity. Very underwhelming and pretty depressing… at least the Lampard stuff was amusing for a while.
  5. This nonsense just gets better and better
  6. Not sure about everyone else but I’m finding this whole thing absolutely hilarious. I’m still in mourning for Nige and think I’ve reached the delirious stage of grief now
  7. I’d be amazed if this happened. Can we really see SL paying the money someone like Lampard would need? And is there any way Lampard would want to put his currently battered reputation on the line by joining a club in the midst of an injury crisis who won’t spend any money on players? And be told what to do by Tinnion every step of the way? I just don’t see it.
  8. Was chatting to a Blues fan earlier who knows his stuff and he absolutely loved Eustace, said we should be delighted if we get him. I’m far from convinced, and would have Nige over him every day of the week, but it sounds like we could have done worse based on what my mate said.

    The Return

I’m told that Tinnion was up at the training ground yesterday watching the academy so it’s very possible he was present.
  10. I think there’s every chance we could be sucked into trouble. If and when we get most of the injured players back we should be fine, but as others have said there’s always a club that drops like a stone during a Championship season and that could easily be us. I’ve said this on another thread but there is absolutely no top end Championship experience at the club right now. There’s not even any football league experience to speak of, other than Tinnion who seems to have been made kingmaker now. The board behind it all are clueless so bringing a Head Coach type in rather than a manager is a huge risk as they’ll need a ton of support to get us going, and I can’t see where the knowhow is that will give them that support. It will all depend on who we bring in but I think there’s every chance we could really struggle. And it will be no more than Lansdown deserves.
  11. I find this whole episode utterly depressing and I’m at a point where I have had enough, until Lansdown departs at least. We’ve all seen this coming for the last week or two but it’s a disgraceful decision and it’s been handled terribly. The incremental improvements made under Pearson may well be lost over the coming months, and whoever the new man is has very little chance with all the injuries we currently have. The players were playing for Nige in close to impossible circumstances. Even now the dust has settled for a few hours, I am still disgusted with the situation. It’s a mess and the only experienced football man we have at the club now is Tinnion, who is fantastic with the academy but unproven at best as a ‘Technical Director’. As others have said, the fact that we’re looking for a ‘Head Coach’ rather than manager is very telling, and points to a typical yes man style appointment. I’ve got my season ticket and will be there on Saturday, but I will be loudly voicing my disgust at this whole debacle. I won’t be renewing while Lansdown is still here either. We will never achieve anything tangible while he owns the club. His ego and his complete lack of ability to stop meddling and accept criticism has held us back for years and I for one have had enough.
  12. All the best Nige. You saw what was wrong with this football club and set about fixing it. Lansdown doesn’t like home truths and here we now are. You did a great job with both hands tied behind your back - all the very best to you and your family. You deserved better.

    He’s gone.

It’s laughable, all of it. I’m absolutely disgusted. Bewildering.
  14. I’ve been saying this ever since Bentley left. O’Leary is a decent goalkeeper and a perfectly serviceable number two but the situation we find ourselves in with no competition at all for him is ridiculous really and a very good barometer for where we are. If he got injured we’d be in all sorts of trouble and it’s so blindingly obvious but we never did anything about it…
  15. Properly depressing to lose to that scum but given the side we had out it was a worthy effort from us today. Just hope we can get one or two back in time for next weekend… Sheff Wed is a game we really need to be winning.

    Roberts

Agree with this. Nige didn’t sound at all impressed with a player ‘limping around’ and said that he’d be fit for Saturday. Got the distinct impression that he’s not a big fan of Roberts based on that, and him being hooked early in the game at the weekend.
  17. According the the article in the Post, Nige’s prognosis is still uncertain to there has been no operation yet.
  18. Great report… not sure I completely agree with it though! I do agree that Rotherham were comfortably the better side before the break but, despite how poor and lacking in ideas we were on the ball, I thought we at least put bodies on the line and showed resilience to stay in the game. We also should have had a clear penalty. After half time, it was still a poor game of course but we had a lot more of the ball and I felt we at least matched them. It’s not a high bar but I didn’t think we were outplayed in the period at all and we probably had marginally the better chances. And, of course, we had a trump card to come on in Conway who showed us just what we’ve been missing. Overall I’d say we lacked quality for long periods. But, their goal aside, we battled hard to keep the ball out of our net and at least showed some fight and commitment. I could easily see us having lost that game in previous season. Oh and I would also say that was the best I’ve seen Dickie play for us. He was outstanding at times last night. COYR
  19. Conway is pure class. Two great finishes, we’ve really missed him.
  20. It’s amazing how we all see the game so differently. I thought the subs made perfect sense…. We’d lost our intensity, especially on the press, after they pulled one back and the subs all put in a massive shift to help us get that back. With us having 2 more games this week, it all seemed sensible to me. Of the players that came on, Cornick had the best game I’ve seen from him and Weimann gave us the energy that you’d expect from him. I agree with others who say that Yeboah just isn’t quite ready to affect a game of that magnitude yet. He’s full of running, power and pace but is miles off being an effective championship player in my opinion. Ultimately I thought we deserved to win the game but for some dreadful defending. It was incredibly frustrating to watch.
  21. Nige is having back surgery and will miss the next few games apparently. All the best to the fella for a quick recovery.
  22. I couldn’t agree more with this post and have been saying it for years. The atmosphere at AG, or lack of it, is nothing to do with acoustics or the layout of the stadium. The place can be absolutely bouncing when it gets going. When there’s a string of poor refereeing decisions, when we pile forward and get some momentum going, when there’s a real edge to a game, or when we’re playing a big cup tie the fans get fully engaged and there are no problems with acoustics at all. It’s just that none of those things have happened often enough over the past few years (apart from poor officiating). It’s an extreme example but, Bristol derbies aside, I’ve never heard a better atmosphere than the big Man United game because everyone was bang up for it, the game was huge and we played magnificently against one of the biggest clubs in the world. There were problems with acoustics that night. To say there are at other times is a convenient line and a load of nonsense imo.
  23. As many others have said, this interview really didn’t tell us a lot that we didn’t already know, or at least suspect. SL has had enough of funding huge losses and isn’t going to do it anymore. That has seemed obvious from everything Pearson has been saying in his press conferences for a long while. It’s absolutely his right to stop doing this, but it doesn’t tally up at all with the repeatedly stated (in this interview) aim of us pushing for the top 6 this season. SL is asking Pearson to perform a miracle which he knows isn’t going to happen and, when we’re predictably falling short, will bin him off saying his failed and bring in the next yes man. If Nige achieves a top 10 finish under these constraints it will be remarkable. One thing I’ve not seen commented on that Alexander said more than once was his keenness to get it out there that he was ‘honoured’ to lead on the Alex Scott negotiations. Lansdown had implied in his own interview that he’d overseen it and I read that as Alexander trying to prove his credentials and show that he’s the boss on the football side of things. A small detail but I thought that was telling. Other than that I thought the interview was exactly what I would have expected. A defence of Lansdown’s record and a load of fawning about the money he’s put in, a reiteration of budgets, a load of rubbish about how expect to finish top 6 like Luton and a load of corporate waffle about cash flow. Overall I’m in the same camp as most others on here now. SL appears to be slowly pulling the plug and wants out. I think we need a new owner but it’s so important we get the right one. I’d hate for us to become a sports washing project like Newcastle or be bled dry like Cardiff or Birmingham. The next year or two will be very interesting as we see which way it all goes.
  24. Can’t see this on here so thought I would post. There’s an extended interview with Phil Alexander on Sound of the City tonight. Hopefully this should address the concerns that many of us were talking about last week, particularly around lack of communication. Should be a really interesting chat https://x.com/bbcbristolsport/status/1698682471317946508?s=46
