  1. This is highly unlikely to be a straight forward infection . Post viral fatigue/long Covid/mental health issue. I guess if they don’t feel it appropriate to tell us and it may well not be ,then speculation will continue . As for the medicals at this level ,they rarely have enough time to cover everything thouroughly. In the premier league they often have a full day with scans as normal part of procedure .
  2. Unfortunately can’t see us getting anything tonight. But I thought we’d lose at millwall and smash Birmingham, you can’t really second guess us at the moment.
  3. I believe Hull is the largest city with only one football club in the country, despite having a couple of rugby league teams they aren’t as small as many other teams that have been to the PL before us.
  4. I think most of us are fairly pragmatic about level of performance. However got to be said the years and years of perennial underachievement doesn’t half start to grind!!
  5. Yes hernia op leaves 3 small holes ,no big scar anymore. But can still get infected I guess. Infected Ingrowing toenail could drag on ,but who knows ,clearly not minded to let us in on the secret.
  6. My wife said to me this morning ,do you want to stay in and watch the women’s World Cup final or come shopping with me. Message sent from Asda
  7. I’m in a town in Spain ,there are 2 tvs in the bar ……..both showing rowing.
  8. Cornick clearly divides fans like many before him. We have the super fans who cannot countenance any criticism of any city player however poorly they perform. Then we have the super pessimists who criticise every city player when we lose however well they may have played, but focus mostly on the current flavour of the month for giving a verbal kicking. For me it was a great win today ,where everyone played their part. I’m hoping Cornick will morph into more than a long throw expert and show why we invested our precious cash on him ,it certainly may happen. At times he does remind me a bit of David Clarkson who I had high hopes for ,but unfortunately turned out to be not great in the air ,not particularly quick, and not a great finisher. Lets all get behind him and hope with a bit of confidence he proves to be a great addition to the squad. Shame Bournemouth got an equaliser today……….I’m not bitter.
  9. As others have said ,the truth around transfers is often fairly misty. I think what will be more frustrating if it occurs is if the fee is undisclosed.Although selling once in a generation talent like Scott is possibly v short-sighted if we have any intentions of reaching the prem,I understand all the arguments that make it almost inevitable that we have to sell .However I suspect we accept it far better if he goes for the much talked about £25m ,when if fee is undisclosed it may be that the actual fee (with fabled add ons) could be as low as £12m or less ,Scott is no big name yet and with minimal interest,it may well be we settle at a much lower fee. Thst could explain NP’s surliness on the subject. As his war chest will be considerably smaller than anticipated. Unfortunately we will probably never know.
  10. Great performance so far,but let’s not get carried away. Oxford lost 2-0 to Cambridge at the weekend and they are at the level of teams we were battering pre-season. If we can repeat this at the weekend then hopefully a better season than recently thought may be expected. Roberts or Pring is a nice problem to have ,although keeping them both happy may be tricky.
  11. Jeez another disappointing start.Dress it up any way you like ,I was expecting a far better performance than that and i really should know better having followed city for 50+ years. Only positive is I cashed out my £50 city to win bet 5 mins before they equalised,it looked on the cards. Hoprefully NP will have learned a bit more about the squad and his best 11 . Obviously long way to go ,but will have to improve from that .
  12. What a dreadful performance that was .We were desperate for something different up front . All ifs and buts I guess ,the LB for Brighton that day was a certain Nathan Jones the popular manager on this board!!
  13. If you manage to catch the Gold Coast suns aussie rules team up there ,their head physio was one of the City academy physios about 10 years or so ago.
  14. I don’t think it does any harm to player at least one better team to test the systems. I just looked up a couple of our competitors at random -Cardiff are playing Porto and Braga ,stoke have notts county ,derby and Everton. So can be done. Back in the day one of our pre-season games was the Gloucester cup game against Rovers. Now I appreciate they are probably no better than Swindon ,but it definitely was competitive and attracted ok sized crowds.Downside being the risk of injury. Feeling surprisingly optimistic for the season.
  15. Sorry to start two topics at once ,but always interested in catching bands early in their careers and I suspect many of you have done that . Saw the pogues in Hampstead village hall for a quid in early eighties only reason we went was it had a late licence. Saw Catfish and the bottlemen at the Louisiana (and the thekla). Saw Robert Plant at the Granary-but long after his led zep days.
  16. Love all these music threads with no football to discuss. The two I guess that fit the bill for me are Duran Duran supporting Hazel O’Connor at the colston hall (beacon now)and James supporting the Smiths at Brixton academy ,I suspect many of you have better examples.
  17. Sat in front of Somerset changing rooms ,some disappointed looking faces as they walked back in after getting out for what most of them would have thought were too low scores. Batting looked very tricky yesterday,I like Edgbaston as a ground, but I’ve been to several finals day and it is usually low scoring affairs.Very different to the action at Taunton. Roy as he walked up the steps (Surrey’s changing rooms above Somerset’s) when it started raining before Somerset inning said “jokingly” to cricket official “and that’s why you should play it down south!”. Anyway amazingly finally won it again with two subpar totals.Brilliant bowling and fielding.Brilliant but nail biting day!
  18. Not a massive surprise. The population is increasing every year so undoubtedly the crowds are likely to continue increasing. The population in the 50’s was probably 15-20 million less than now ,so no real surprise.
  19. Looking forward to seeing how he goes next season.Definitely keen for us to have more height in the team. If I recall correctly the last centre half we signed from QPR was Damion Stewart, let’s hope this works out better.
  20. I could be wrong ,it as a long time ago ,but from my spot in the east end I thought he ran forward and kicked a ball coming towards him,is there any old film of it as I was 100% there and that is my memory.
  21. I’m afraid your memory is a bit off ,he ran and kicked a bouncing ball to score as I remember it.
  22. Unfortunately I think it will not be any sort of a fortress and too predictably they will return to the championship likely bottom of the league . If they’re sensible they will do a Burnley and not overspend in a futile attempt to stay up ,but with parachute payments be in a great financial position to compete in the championship and possibly go up again with a stronger team that has more of a chance of survival.
  23. In 3 weeks time it will be my 53rd year anniversary-city 0 -1 Sheffield united.April 4th 1970,just before my 5th birthday. Looking at the final league table that year (old div 2)we finished 14th ,Huddersfield and Blackpool were promoted and Preston and Aston Villa relegated. Only had to wait another 6seasons to see us promoted to the promised land.I guess my generation were very lucky on that front.Got to happen again soon ,surely.
  24. Great opportunity for Cornick to show us what he’s about and get some confidence with a goal.He must be better than we’ve seen so far.
