  1. On the derby forum they mention a strategic report referring to downing and simpson assisting holden whilst he was 'interim manager' Is this true ? If so are we rewriting history?
  2. Let me preface this by saying I love Weimans commitment, effort and commitment. This might be an unpopular opinion but the fact Weiman is our first choice striker sums up what we need to improve if we ever want to get promoted. Someone will quote back his goals but to be a truly top team we need to get to a position where weiman is 4th choice and on the bench. We need players who are a real threat and defenders fear and I dont think any championship teams are particularly concerned about Weiman . Also, let me be clear I'm.not criticising weiman, he IS our first choice striker and justifiably so. I'm just saying as a club we need to aspire to be much better going forward.
  3. 'Walking in a Wilson wonderland' belted out in the closing minutes from memory
  4. So with Pearson seemingly out for the forseeable , first of all I wish him all the best. We have no idea how serious it is so really hope he is resting up an can return soon. It does leave us with the mess of who covers or replace him. In the past the club hasn't been afraid to appoint from within, almost always because it's cheap. In my time supporting city Tinnion Millen Holden All three unsuccessful with Millen probbaly doing the best. The Holden debacle was a real own goal for all parties and I hoped the appointment of Pearson signalled a change in direction. However we are now left with Fleming in charge. I enjoyed Flemings forthright honesty after the coventry game but being honest and straight with the fans doesnt make a good manager, look at Holden who never tried to make excuses despite our dire form last year. If Peason is out until the new year or beyond will we get the assistant I.e. Fleming or will Lansdown opt for anyone with experience . Who are some realistic names who are available and could actually be tempted to come in for an initial 6 weeks? It would probably.need to be someone genuine connection to the club or not really doing a lot towards the end of their career. Danny Wilson , Roy Hodgson (very unlikely ), Tinnion (would be ironic given I've listed him above too!)? It a really tricky situation , hopefully by the next game there will be some clarity either way on a short term way forward
  5. Isnt it a bit sad that we all seem to be wishing ill on Ipswich in this thread? I was certainly no fan of Ashton and am glad he has left but isnt it a bit tin pot that we have a 13 page thread (no doubt WAY longer by the end of the season ?) I wonder what we will all say if they end up getting promoted !
  6. A real warrior of a player and great competitor Wish him a speedy recovery
  7. I wonder if an unspoken reason is that police and paramedics will be needed to reopen all grounds but in 6 weeks time these same staff may be needed in hospitals etc ?
  8. Because prem clubs are shelling out for bale , thiago, sancho, jota at the same time as the announcement today. Unfortunately it's a dog eat dog world so I wont hold my breath Dark times ahead
  9. So what do we reckon...fans at the villa game ? Fans at the sheff wed game next Sunday? Hopefully club is doing all it can to do something
  10. Articles suggest 'the next 48 hours will be crucial'....is this comment related to trends in the number of cases nationally or some sort of decision point happening this week ?
  11. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/report-chelsea-women-9-0-bristol-city-women/? Correction...if you go to the womens fixtures its listed there. Can you imagine if the mens team lost 9 0 and the site just pretended it never happend.
  12. Still nothing on the website ? Actually embarrassing
  13. The comms team are keen to promote all things related to the womens team normally....well it's now 3 hours after the 9 0 loss to Chelsea and there is nothing on the website! I'm all for promoting the womens game but you have to promote it when they get embarassed as well as when they win (if the mens team lost 9 0 it would be up on the site like normal )
  14. I think we will do well if fans are regularly back in stadiums at the end of October onwards . Not because of the current numbers but because how the numbers will be trending come the time. They're only likely to get worse as winter comes unfortunately. Going to be a tough few months as up to now the weather has been a real friend (generally) in allowing people to regularly meet outdoors where it is much safer.
  15. Wonder whether clubs will follow same policy re:refunds Could be as many as 10 to 12 games potentially they need to either offer streaming, refunds, credits for
  16. https://www.google.com/amp/s/footballleagueworld.co.uk/isnt-going-to-happen-dont-do-it-many-sunderland-fans-react-to-off-pitch-update/amp/ They may have 24,000 season ticket holders but this shows how corrupt football is really. Game needs an overhaul
  17. https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2020/may/club-update-on-ticket-and-membership-rebates/ I would assume all clubs will follow this (as an option alongside other options potentially) Looks like a full refund for the remaining games will be heading to season ticket holders
  18. Yeah..I really dont see the EFL being completed if it doesn't start by mid june (parry said end of july deadline) Given that the premier league is aiming for mid june and has far more resources than the EFL then it looks pretty unlikely city will play again this season.
  19. Premier League: More clubs open to using neutral venues if relegation removed - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52517532 Is it April fools ? Look forward to Lansdown announcing 'We support neutral venues but only if automatic promotion extended down to 10th place '
  20. This is all true....however i think its pretty clear that those 5 games left will not have fans attending OR will not be played.
  21. I think all clubs are very lucky more fans aren't asking for refunds now Clearly no one will be attending the last 5 games so in principle refunds could be offered now. Feels like the climate has changed economically in the last week and that businesses including football are beginning to creak. There is a real push to open businesses and get football on again .
  22. I think it will not take long before fans ask for their money back. At the moment clubs can hide behind 'we dont know what's happening yet' but just think how much of our money the club has currently which will definitely need to be refunded (certainly the last 5 games of this season for sure ). There are people who could really use that money who have been laid off /on zero hours contracts .
  23. Things could get quite complex. Premier league may well finish so teams can come down and be relegated but not so sure about our league. Despite all the money there isnt enough money for teams to be on 'lockdown ' for 6 weeks, especially if the premier league is doing it at the same time . Also, even things u take for granted like refs and linesman will need to quarantine. With the money in the prem this is no problem but in our league it wont be as easy a sell so perhaps a 'points per game ' style finish will be implemented followed by the play offs. It's so annoying (from a purely football perspective) that we aren't sat in 6th rather than 7th
  24. You can't charge people 20 pound per match though when they aren't actually attending. Plus for bigger teams like Leeds , why would their fans be happy at being charged 20 pound per match AND their sky subscription when the game is on sky. Multiply this times 10 for Liverpool , man u etc... I think they'll have to offer refunds and then ask fans who want to watch to pay on a game by game basis. Also...working in IT I cant see them building a system that recognises season ticket holders from everyone else in the current climate...they can barely operate a decent ticketing service online in normal times !!
