You could say this about any striker we sign though, if we signed Thomas would he go straight in the team or would he be on the bench? Same dilemma. Barnett is a decent striker at this level and is certainly more of a goal threat than taylor, if we can bring players who can improve our squad its only a good thing. And Barnett definitely makes it stronger. Oh and Wes Thomas is on the raidar of a few championship clubs, so its a bit unrealistic.

I disagree completely. We weren't gelling, we were giving away soft goals, passing it round at the back and getting no where, picking up the odd point and in big trouble. As much as I wanted odriscoll to do well, it wasn't happening. It really irritates me, at tamworth last week the bloke behind me said to his mate 'I hope you brought your neck brace', SOD's team was NOT playing football, was NOT picking up results and was in the relegation zone. We played long today but at least at the end of the game we were going for it.

I actually feel for sod. We have been in every game this season, silly mistakes have cost us 15+ points! I suppose that could come down to coaching or the players just not having the metal. I question the timing, but I guess if your going to do it now is the latest possible it could come, and after almost half the season we have picked up a mear 15 points, pretty pathetic. I can see why the board have done it, but there was just such a fine line for sod doing well and not doing well this season. I think what also let him down was his focus on the opposition and negativity, we shouldn't be where we are- the question is who would want to come into this merry go round circus of a club!?

Yea they are refurbing underneath the atyeo, putting offices in place of the dressing room etc.

Hopefully because there is already a stadium on the site there wont be as much opposition. To be fair we already had planning permission for 29k before we started the av debacle, so I hope we can start in the new year without any hitches, but I wont hold my breath. As for your second paragraph im in complete agreement, we need better of the field facilities asap, not in 10 years, now. Whilst the capacity doesn't have the same ability to increase as av, I personally think it will be ample even if we do get to the prem. Look at west brom for example.

It was always a given imo. Ferguson is behind it so the revamp will happen. Im with kibs on this one, I was all for moving to av but having looked at the ins and outs, pros and cons- redeveloped gate is just as viable and imo still looks impressive. It will be interesting to see if safe standing is still at the bottom of the ee and not the top, as a lot of fans requested a change.

Why don't sainsburys buy the land for the new stadium instead, giving rovers sufficient finance to redevelop the mem to 15k all seater or something, lets face it that's all they will ever need.

No your right there are no 'designated' standing areas in the top two divisions. I was just making the point that you can in effect stand at a lot of games, and big contingent of fans actually prefer to. Hopefully by putting in place safe standing we can be the club that trials it, and gets the laws changed back. Lets not forget the reasons for the laws have been shown as basically bad policing, totally different to safe standing, hell if its good enough for 80k plus crowds at Dortmund it should be good enough for the top flight in England!

Some clubs already 'allow' standing. If you go to watch villa a huge section of the holt end stand for most of the game-without being pestered by stewards. Similar at Tottenham and watching games on tv you can always see fans standing, its almost an unwritten rule at some grounds.

Well said. Plus the club HAVE confirmed that the non match day revenue streams will be the same at ag once redeveloped as av would have been anyway. All this talk of we cant redevelop the gate was the club trying to push av through. The gate once redeveloped will be light years ahead of the mem.

What goes around..... Those are my first thoughts, although I do share the sentiment that its a farce neither club looks to be able to build a new ground to help move into the modern footballing era. We are lucky to have landsdown to be able to redevelop ag and still get all the facilities we need to progress. I know it has been discussed in the past, but could city and rovers look at viable options to build a stadium that we can share? If ac and inter , Lazio and roma can do it...... Although if we do redevelop ag, we could just let them rot in the mem? Choices, choices.
