Well i finally got round to watching a Women's world cup game? I was bored and there had been a lot of hype, so i thought i would see what all the fuss was about? It is so easy to criticise from one's armchair, and I really wanted to enjoy it and appreciate the skill...but i have to say that it was disappointing, i appreciate that taking one game in isolation is unfair, because it's a big occasion, and players are tense, and it is a long tournament with lots of ups and downs. But i thought that all three goals were of a poor standard, that would be unlikely, IMHO to occur in a men's game? Apparently the winner, according to the screeching commentator was "Deadly"..but.I put it down to appalling defending by the Colombian team, and as for England's and Colombia's first goal's , the least said the better? I had heard that the standard of goalkeeping had improved, something that i thought had let down womens football in the past? Again, in isolation it is unfair to criticise, but i thought the standard of keeping was pretty poor? For all it's technical ability and moments of skill, compared to the men's game.........it just leaves me cold .....but that's my problem. Good Luck, and I hope England win it, but quite honestly....... it was not a patch on the Arsenal v Notts Forest game?

NP is enough of a pragmatist to understand the situation....however I genuinely believe that he thought Scott would be staying until at least the next window. His philosophy is that you don't sell your best players if you wish to be successful? It is extraordinarily sad that we have sold our best 2 players, when he wants to build a side to compete at the top, and I do not blame him for being pissed off. Bristol City have now acquired the reputation of being a selling club, whether we like it or not? You constantly see it on this forum?, that as soon as a talent emerges, all every one talks about is how much he is worth? As if it's a game of Football manager? Trying not to be too bitter? But it is hard to take, that after 40 or so years supporting Bristol City FC .......we have now become merely a pheckin feeder club for Bournemouth. Why is it that every time the prospect of a "Big" player coming up through the ranks is mentioned..............the VERY first thing that is alluded to is "To be sold for big money" I am a pragmatist, and i am fully aware of how certain clubs operate . But FFS can we not enjoy the talent? Instead of looking at the balance sheet? If we could have retained just 50% of the blank cheque players that have moved on.........then maybe we wouldn't be stuck in the morass of mid table obscurity!? And WHY is it an "exciting future" when Scott moves on? Surely it's pheckin depressing, not spine-tingling ? I like the way James Piercy in his article makes the point that due to Scotty's failure to play against Preston.....it actually increased his value? There are a lot of PNE type teams in the Championship, and you really need something different or special to crack their type of set up, and Scott is just that man, his exceptional talent can really make such a difference in our league? He is almost irreplaceable, unless somehow our scouting network can turn up a better replacement than they have managed with Antione's successor? I am desperately hoping that there is some way we can hold on to Scotty for just one more season(Wishful thinking i know?), as he is that one player who can turn a game on it's head at this level..........Preston showed us that there are players out there in Europe that can be found, with their recruitment of Mads Jensen, at a snip of a fee, who i thought looked just the type of player we could do with? But our lack of loan players, lack of a quality European scout....and, probably our lack of the wonderful (probably) Alex Scott............. means that at best it will be a season loitering near the edge of the play offs............i sincerely hope I am wrong, of course!

i know we have Scotty...(But for how long?) But Watching Preston's Mads Jensen today, made me think that he is just the type of creative midfielder we have been looking for for the past 4 seasons or so....and a snip at 1.3 Mill? Oh well, I'm sure Knight will come good, given time.
