  1. His daughter just competed at the British Gymnastics as well!
  2. Exactly, that is exactly what an acronym is, taking the initials if something and creating a word with them. It seems perfectly valid to me! When you just say the letters (as in R.I.P.) that is an initialisation.
  3. Exactly, and a word made from the initials would be an acronym, and a valid word once it is in general use. Radar and scuba are good examples. (RAdio Direction And Range, Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) R.I.P. wouldn't work as rip is a word with a different meaning already.
  4. Agreed on R.I.P. VAR is an acronym so is a word in it's own right, though maybe it should be Var rather than capitalised.
  5. Names are still there in the Atyeo.....
  6. I would have thought a montage of the current squad would be the most appropriate. That could go for every season!
  7. I visit the footbasll side of this forum with a heavy heart these days, just because the overall mood on here is so damned negative and a million miles away from what I experience at the ground. Things aren't perfect but, in general, the change of manager was met with understanding, and the mood is still one of support for the team and manager despite the last few results. If you only read on here though, you would think we are at our lowest ebb for many a year with a board intent on destroying the club. With this ST launch though, I can't help but feel that something, somewhere is not right behind the scenes. They must know that Tinnion is not exactly popular at the moment amongst a section of the fanbase, yet they still chose to put him on the radio on Monday and figure him prominently in the promo for this. It feels deliberate for some unknown reason. The increase in prices of over 10% with barely an acknowledgement feels cynical too. I do think they have made the right move in trying to move the £50 U12 tickets to the family area and have no reason to complain about that, but the messaging about what is going on with SS tickets is jumbled and not very clear cut. I think it is almost inevitable that we will see a drop in ticket sales, just on the prices alone. This year the hype definitely feels unjustified. Having said that, I will be renewing, but for possibly the first time ever I have been given a reason to think about that choice and it's not comfortable.
  8. Can't imagine that was a match to sway opinions in either direction
  9. You would need to supply a false name and address to buy tickets in the first place, which while not impossible would soon get you caught out I would think.
  10. Not a clue what you were thinking of saying there, any chance of a clue?
  11. Pulp Fiction Rocky Horror Picture Show O' Brother Where Art Thou? Tommy Frailty
  12. The commentators did, made a mention of it, something along the lines of you hardly ever see full on hoof it goal kicks in the Premier League any more
  13. Just checked, moved into the new ground in 1990
  14. Walsall is the obvious one that we seemed to go to every other week back in the day! Or was that just redeveloped?
  15. If you guys listen to podcasts at all you would probably appreciate https://500songs.com/ - an absolue tour de force, though I should warn you he's only up to the late sixties at present, 1974 might be reached in a year or two edit - Oh how wonderful - I have my very own forum stalker!
  16. Did anyone ever think that? It's what the people selling the rights told us....
  17. It's Us v Cardiff, always happens. Mainly due to trouble in the past. You may think it is unneccessary now, and I would agree, but they obviously have a different opinion.
  18. Not sure the police did much wrong here, they requested the kick off change months ago, it was the club that held off announcing it in the hope that it would be picked for TV, and then delayed the announcement for 11 days after it wasn't picked!
  19. Another 70 or 80 online would have sold out just as quickly as the first batch did. Having no stock at all in the shop would have caused uproar.
  20. They are a very strange breed indeed...
  21. They were commenting on how Southampton's style can quieten down grounds when they are away, and you can see that, the way they just stand with the ball in defence and try to draw teams onto them
  22. "He doesn't know" was referring to a poster who was asked why he thinks Southgate is a puppet. It was not a reference to Southgate himself
  23. Think you might have got the wrong end of the stick there
  24. All this stream searching online - has anyone actually tried ITV4?
