  1. How is it 25 years of under achieving? You would be hard pushed to find a 25 year period in our history where our average league placing was higher. We haven't been wildly successful, I will grant you that but seeing as most of our time has been spent as a yoyo between Championship and League 1 level we are now firmly established as a mid table Championship club with a better platform than we have ever had to push on. Be careful what you wish for when the Lansdowns move on. You might think there is disconnect between the club and the fans now, it will only get worse...
  2. At one point with Ashton in place we were riding high in the Championship, had just beaten Man Utd to reach the semi final of the League Cup, we were being cast a lot of envious glances by other teams and being justifiably described as a Premier League team in waiting. Then Frankie got sent off against Wolves and somehow the whole house of cards began to tumble.....
  3. Top left quadrant I think? Above Dave Smith (I'm sure I saw him bombing down the wing around 1990?)
  4. But definitely separate countries in a footballing sense....
  5. That'll be because nobody has cash on them
  6. I just ignore the people asking to see tickets since the phone thing, not been stopped once.
  7. On a personal level I am happy about the fixture move to Friday night, got a big family event on the Saturday and would have missed it.
  8. It was moved because of the Rugby, but not because it was due to be played at Ashton Gate. They just didn't want a fixture clash and moved our match to give people the opportunity to go to both. The location of the rugby was irrelevant. I think that's what has been said anyway.
  9. I have no red button coming up on Sky Stream. Is it working for anyone else? Thanks @Lanterne Rouge
  10. Anywhere near the Deepings? I lived in Deeping St James for a while a few years back
  11. Have you mentioned Marvelous before? It was a mention on here that made me seek it out a fair while ago, and I love it. Will look out for The Mighty Penguins
  12. It will be whoever the caretaker is, nobody else would touch them with a bargepole right now surely? They will then carry on in their own irrelevant manner on a footballing basis, whilst continuing to provide comedy gold for us.
  13. He has had a reasonable start, but wayyyy to early to describe the change to Manning as 'succeeding' which is what you did above.
  14. That is all reasonable, though I would say that I don't think any mistakes have been repeated here, it was just a case of they felt NP had done his job and it was time to move on. It wasn't handled very well I agree, but I think that comes down to more of a clash of personalities and the Lansdown's not getting on particularly well with Nige. I have met Brian Tinnion a few times, and whilst I will keep my thoughts private regards comments elsewhere about how bright he is, he is football through and through and has the best interests of this club at heart.
  15. Attending games about 40 years, ST 27 years. I think we all know that Lansdown's biggest mistake was giving Mark Ashton free rein over football matters off the pitch, and he has made other mistakes over the years, but the fact remains that Bristol City are competitive at a higher level than they have been at any time during my time supporting the club. The Lansdown's are far from clowns, although I will grant you they are far from perfect. Personally, I am happier with fans owning the club (And Jon being a fan is the only reason Steve got involved in the first place) than selling out to some corporate entity. Then you would really get to see what not caring looks like. I don't think history is repeating itself here, we are not going to go splashing money on deadwood this time round. All I am saying is that things are nowhere near as bad as the prevailing mood on this forum would suggest. It is not a mood shared by the majority of the fanbase either, in my experience. Pearson did a decent job, very true, but his being replaced is not that surprising given the lack of progress seen this season. I know Alex Scott was sold from under him, but selling your best players is what all clubs at this level do, it's a fact of life. I am not 100% sure that Manning was the right appointment, but wil give him time to prove himself. There was a lot to be positive about yesterday for sure and I am certainly not feeling the doom and gloom that you are.
  16. I think the options for them have dried up since we appointed Manning, they can't get away with calling potential managers, just saying they are from Bristol and would they be interested any more?
  17. More than welcome to your opinion (as am I), but I think you will find yourself in a minority. Not the required groupthink in here I know, but the vast majority of supporters have had a collective shrug of their shoulders and moved on.
  18. I didn't say we played amazingly well, I said it was an exciting game, first 30 minutes aside, and I stand by that. Cannot think of a better one in that respect. There were obviously games we played better, had easier wins etc., but that match was more exciting than anything I can recall recently. 20 shots on target split between both sides, woodwork being hit, a penalty for a change, snatching a winner after letting a two goal lead slip....what's not to like?
  19. It's bizarre. All you see in here is browbeating about Pearson going, and comments about the Lansdowns being clowns, awful, finished at this club etc. I have yet to find a single person, either sat around us in the SS or amongst friends, who isn't a regular on here, that feels even close to that. The vast majority, so far as I can see, were maybe a little nonplussed at Pearson going but could see why, and quite enjoyed the most exciting game at the Gate for several seasons yesterday (first 30 minutes aside).
  20. Griffin Park was the greatest away end in the league, although I do seem to remember they put us at the opposite end for a couple of years at some point? My personal favourite was Ipswich, that felt like a proper ground to me.
  21. I think your Jevons opinion may be negatively influenced by the fact that he was a Gary Johnson favourite RR, he wasn't that bad. Somewhere in the middle ranking over the years for me.
  22. Undoubtedly the worst striker I have seen play for us, and I include Bas Savage in that list
  23. I certainly wasn't an LJ hater, though I do feel his time was up when he left. But to say we would have gone up were it not for the pandemic is just nonsense. The only time he had us anywhere near challenging was the Man Utd season, where we were right up there but fell apart after Fieldings rush of blood to the head vs Wolves
