  1. Always thought that some of the comments about our blue friends were over the top as in fairness most of my blue few mates are a bit strange but alright really.

However a recent experience in Spain would make me review that.

Me and my city supporting friend went to Malaga match against Athletic Bilbao. We often go and watch Malaga .

Anyway on the train back to fuengorila where we were staying we got talking about the game when a rather portly gentleman who was sat next to us asked us in a thick Bristol accent what was the result of the game. Thinking this was odd as he was wearing a Malaga shirt I asked him if he had been to the game and he told me that he had but had gone early from the match because he wanted to get a taxi all the half or so mile to the railway station.

He had missed the two late Malaga goals but also admitted he didn't get into the game to see the early Athletic goal because he was late meaning he had missed all the goals.

I was thinking what a nice chap he was and asked him if he was a Bristolian which he said yes and what team he supported which he replied " I was born on the right side of the river" which I replied "the red side?"

Anyway said nice chap becomes very aggressive towards me and starts to rant "you're not a f*****g s***head are you. I f*****g hate s***heads. You b******ds are everywhere. I am going to text my mate and tell him". I told him to make sure he told his mate there was two city fans to the one R*****s fan so normal service had been resumed even in Spain.

Well this rather nice chap who had turned into a real nasty git then got his phone out and showed me a video of when he went to Sabadell in the summer for a friendly saying " we took 850 fans you S*** heads would have only took about 70"

The train journey took twenty minutes and he continued to get more agrresive and tell us how rubbish Ashton gate is and how their so called new stadium would have a 33k capacity.

If I am aboard and I meet fellow Bristolians I like to chat to them and maybe have a drink with them even if they are r****s fans.

This guy proves everything that has been said on this thread about them being nasty and hating us more than they love there own team

That game was the epitome of a game of two halves.  Superb in the first half with a great game plan to stifle their midfield, Bannan in particular.  Pack played a bit further forward than most would have expected and it worked.  Wednesday had zero chances in the first time.  We had three and scored two goals - the opposite to Saturday.

Pretty much every player was on their game in the first half.  I just don't know what happened in the second.  We were still 2-0 up when I told my mate next to me that we would lose this.  The players seemed to forget the plan.  Perhaps they thought, being 2-0 up, that they didn't need to play to it anymore.

Obviously the penalty and O'Neill red card changed the game and proved once again that it is the fine margins that are important.  It looked to all that GON got the ball so I don't blame him.

We had lost our heads before the red card but the wheels truly fell off afterwards. The ref looked at his watch five times before they scored.  It looked like we were slow to close down.

    Ratings: first half/ second half

O'Donnell - 6/4 - nothing to do first half.  What is he doing for the second goal?!

Little -7/3 - solid first half and got forward. One of the worst displays in recent times by a city player in the second.  His head went and he was all over the place

Flint - 7/6 - headed everything and marshalled back line well.

Magnusson - 8/6 - read the game well first half.  Missed a few headers and got bullied second half

Bryan - 8/8 - did nothing wrong and was everywhere

O'Neill - 9/7 - incredible first half.  Obviously red card ruined his second but think he got the ball

Brownhill - 8/5 - hassled everyone first half and good run for the second goal.  Disappeared second half big time

Pack - 9/5 - pressed very well first half and was immense.  Run ragged second half when we needed a calming influence

O'Dowda - 5/5 - defended pretty well but offered nothing going forward all game

Tomlin - 5/3 - a passenger for pretty much whole time he was on the pitch.  Left Bryan exposed time and time again.  If he scores penalty then we win

Abraham - 10/9 - MOM.  Incredible game from the loanee.  Completely isolated second half.  Offered zero support from his teammates but kept going and had the two centre backs panicked. Won plenty of vital free kicks.  Looked shattered when the winner went in.

Truly gutted with tonight especially when they showed what they are capable of first half.  The makings of a very good team but that second half was truly awful.

Excellent well written post thank you
