  1. Problem is they are only reopening one of the platforms at Pill, they are doing the whole job as cheep as possible, this will mean it can only ever be a hourly service to Portishead, You can bet that within a few years of opening they will be spending way more to update Pill to a passing station then if they just did it now,
  2. This meeting of the planning committee was ment to happen in May but was cancelled due to covid, its really delayed the reopening, the latest guess seams to be that it's now not going to be open until 2024, The only plus with this is that the work on making the main line 4 track between temple meads and Parson Street should hopefully be done by then so hopefully the new Portishead gains will be able to stop there, as until Parson Street is back to 4 platforms they can't, On another note and hopefully of interest to city fans from the Yate area the proposed Bristol metro half hourly service between temple meads and Yate has been dropped, they will now not be building a siding at Yate to turn trains back there, after Gloucestershire council got involved and offered money to make it an hourly Bristol Gloucester service with a new station at Charfield dont think this can really be called a metro service anymore
  3. Went to my first live football since February lastnight, went and watched Bridgwater Town v Buckland athletic , was so good to see live football again, Thought I would post here so people knew what it's like no to go live, when u get there u have to put your name and phone number in a book, then use had watch before paying at the turnstile, where u got you cup of tea was no sitting down and different door in and out, in the stands it was 1 seat in use then 2 taped off, Point is all this could be easy enough done down the gate , and probably to an even safer level as there would be lots of people to control things, Anyway Bridgwater won an entertaining game 1-0 think I will be going a few more times to get my live football fix before this government lts me back in the gate,
  4. Why if you are a key worker who had to go work every day as normal all over the covid time it shouldn't matter what that job was you where still risking your life, I work in a supermarket distribution center that makes me a key worker, where I work covid killed one and hospitalised many some who are still not well enough to work, no one clapping us for keeping everyone from going hungry, If city did key worker then all key worker should be treated the same
  5. Just seen on points west news that Ashton gate capacity with social distance is 5000 with 2m distance 11000 with 1m distance Hopefully the government goes for 1m as that's most the season ticket holders getting in,
  6. This is going to be for premiership games so should give a good idea how the English league may get larger numbers of fans back into grounds a month or two later,
  7. At the moment the thinking seams to be that there will be no away fans allowed for the whole of the 20/21 season, so no need to worry about getting to away games with all the hassle of using public transport etc,
  8. It's got more to do with the amount of seats you can provide after the match, Brighton works becouse it's in the south east so lots of big 12 coach trains that take the commuter to London in the week but have nothing to do at the weekend, Manchester is the same a rapid transit system designed to move large numbers of people , If they built a station at Ashton gate it would suffer from the same problems the one in Coventry dose no extra carriges to cope with the football fans, Plus its worth remembering that the final approved plan for the new Portishead line has no station at Ashton gate and also made clear that trains going to and from Portishead will not be able to stop at Parson Street or bedminster, so once the new line is up and running it will be of no use to anyone going to the gate,
  9. Thanks for that had a lot of fun filling it in, would love to see the faces of those reading them
  10. The station at Ashton gate was dropped from the plans back in the spring, sure I posted on here back then, they have basically cut the plan back to the bear minimum to run a train service, There will be no passing loop for passinger trains at Pill so it will only be one train an hour on the line , the loop will be there but only for fright train use as only putting 1 platform back into use, the plan now is to make the platform's at the 2 stations on the line able to take 6 coach trains for peak times, No parking planned for Pill as they don't want people coming off the M5 and using it as a park and ride, They have now agreed the Portishead trains can stop at bedminster as they are going to put the slow line back into use but only between temple meads and bedminster so the trains will still not be able to stop at Parson Street, So really the new trains will be no help at all in getting us to the football,
  11. Reading it that's the cheep proposal I talked about earlier in the thread, deffenalty not a stop at Ashton gate, Only one train an hour on the line no passenger trains passing at Pill, looks like to only tweek if the post is right is that they have found the money to make temple meads to Parson Street 4 track so that the new trains will be able to stop at Parson Street and bedminster,
  12. Love the use of prevalent makes being gas sound like some sort of anti social behaviour
  13. Totally agree, i beleive the draft timetable sees most of the freight paths moved to the night with one path every 2 hours from the port but only from 75mph freight as else wise it will not be at Parson Street before the passinger train needs to leave Pill, think the hole thing has ended up being a lot more complex than some thought when it was first talked of reopening it,
  14. Yes the up slow line is there but will need to be completely relayed to make it a level where passinger trains can go over it but more expensive is the down line as this was ripped up years ago needs a complete relay all the way from temple meads to Parson Street until this is done it will be impossible to path the trains between Parson Street and temple meads if they stop at the 2 stations as they will make other trains late,
  15. Everyone needs not to get there hopes up to high, I went to a presentation last autumn about the current proposal for the new line and its now down to the bargain basement level, there is no station at Ashton gate, only intermediate station is at Pill and this will now only have one platform so only one train an hour will be able to use the line, also the new trains will not be able to stop at Parson Street or bedminster as to do this they will need to reopen the closed outer platforms and relay the slow lines, So really this will be no real use to most city fans as you could I guess catch the train from Pill (but I did see there are going to be many parking restrictions around the station) but u will have to go all the way to temple meads and then catch a train back to Parson Street so will not be that quick
  16. Sorry but Taylor should be starting at 10 we need goals and that needs two strikers on the pitch, he's on forum at the moment should be making the most of it,
  17. Today some plays who where mentally tired after a lot of hard games in not many days made mistakes that cost is the game, not the end of the world we where always going to lose at some point, what's important now is we go again and learn from this, also it shows just how much we need so more players we really could have have done some changes today
  18. That was a good professional performance to, it shows how much we have grown as a team that after forest got the fluky goal, we gave them no real chance for the rest of the 2nd half, Midfield today was best I have seen in ages Pack just won everything perfect cover for our defence, and Smith and Brownhill where everywhere so much pace beating forest to the ball time and again, The only thing we need to work on is starting the 2nd half better, that's a few teams who have got something at the start of the 2nd half, maybe send them out after 10mins to do a full warm up again
