Semenyo joined the academy miles off of ability needed and it was City coaches that helped improve him to where he is now. You give no credit to City for improving him which is odd. An academy is not just about taking players at 9, 10, 11 and turning them into first teamers. It’s also about spotting local talent and improving them.

Another reason is taking players aged 10-13 from the likes of Bristol Inner City and similar local academies. I won’t name kids of that age on a forum but there are 4 they have signed over the last year that are incredible players, already playing up a year. Obviously the fruition of these moves won’t be seen for a while but we are now planning years in advance which we weren’t doing before

A player cannot carry on with a broken leg. The temptation in the past with concussions is for either the player or coach to say ‘I’m fine’ partly so they don’t waste a sub. This takes that temptation away. Concussion subs are now in play for rugby and cricket for that very reason. It is critically important that football does the same and it’s good to see it happening.

I’m assuming you’ve seen the Coventry line up where Weimann, Massengo, Atkinson and Bentley started? I would bet it won’t be that XI as well. To correctly predict an XI for a League cup game is almost impossible. Maybe you predict one and we see who gets the most correct!

I appreciate the sarcasm I really do but mid table would be a big step forward. I can’t see how we have the squad depth for any better than 10th which was my prediction before a ball was kicked. We still get our fair share of injuries even if that has improved and Williams can’t play Saturday and Tuesday
