Let's just drop the generic "he's one of our own" bs and use "We've got Sammy Bell" and all is good.

“And we got him cheap” ??

Funny thing about them lot, if they tried to stay humble and grounded no one would really care…but they can’t help themselves. A sniff of some form and out the woodwork they crawl.

In a way, their manager suits them nicely. A classless gobshite whose lack of self awareness makes him blissfully unaware of his own shortcomings - publicly at least.

Barton and the blue few were always a perfect match.

My least favourite of our managers by a huge distance.

I’ll never forget the joyous scenes in the away end at the game at Bournemouth after he left. The sense of relief created a carnival atmosphere.

That match was fantastic. The team were unshackled, Thorpe back in from the cold and a 3-2 win.

I nearly toppled off the back wall of the terrace trying to stand on it at full time, in celebration  ?

  4. Bet their forum is positively seething right now. Spanked at Morecambe, then have to see the ‘gert teds/82ers/whatever nickname they create for us’ drawing Man City in the cup.

The absolute mental gymnastics their puny minds must be going through to justify their worldview that somehow, some way, they’re the bigger club ?

It's mad. Other than Wells, Weimann and Williams there's nothing left from the Ashton era that is contributing despite £40 odd million of outlay

The more I look back on those days the more I shudder. For every decent but there were about twenty others who clogged up our wage bill.

Hello, City fans, I took my wife to the game today, in fact this was her 3rd game she attended, her first game was against Watford, we drew 0-0 she said to me, who is no 14  to which I replied that's Weinmann, she was very impressed with his movement on and off the ball, Marie who is my wife, got upset when Semenyo was sold to Bournemouth because she thought he was brilliant player! today beating West Brom 3-0 Marie loved it, she has never been to a football match before, she has now been to 3 games she feels welcome at Ashton Gate, she does not feel uncomfortable and loves watching the City play, thank you fellow City fans for making her welcome, it has made her mental health so much better.

As someone who suffers with depression may I say following City never helps ;)

In all seriousness, I’m glad it’s made her feel better, and, in my experience, watching City has brought me more pleasure than despair over the past 28 years since my first match.

Even when the football is rubbish the sheer joy of seeing the ground as you walk towards it on matchday is the perfect tonic, the post match chat, and then listening to Radio Bristol on the way home still makes me smile  :D

Their fans don't have the metal capacity to ask basic questions. The Barton foundations are built on sand i.e. loan after loan. You can only pick five loanees at a time. Is he really going to bring in five or six players on the fees required to guarantee winning two thirds plus of their remaining games which is what is needed to challenge the top 6 (they haven't even paid a Tilson since they bought A Tilson 30 years ago) or are they looking at more loans meaning he will leave them in a situation where half of the players he's brought in cannot even be selected from week to week? The only thing that Wael has actually bought and paid for are half a dozen of Joseph's scouse mates on decent wedge to join the backroom staff......literally run like a bog standard Toolstation outfit where a Manager gets the job and immediately brings their mates in.

In fairness to them, they lack the basic critical reasoning to see beyond magic beans….

Plus, I hate those rugby lines showing on the pitch, it makes it look like a 1st or 2nd division stadium. Wish SL would build a separate stadium for the rugby and just use Ashton Gate for the important stuff.

    Hasn’t done Brentford any harm…

Absolutely yes. More at away games. At Millwall a few years ago I stood next to a group of 4 or 5 young guys who spent the entire match flicking the Vs/flirting with a corresponding group in the Millwall home end.

Same at West Brom in the autumn.

An away day is basically speed dating for some of these chaps it seems. To each his own.

They probably claim it’s ‘fan culture’ or some other label to justify it…?

Disagree about him not being brilliant on the ball. I think he is superb on the ball. Always looks calm and composed and rarely gives it away. His balls over the top are usually weighted well and when he played RCB he played some superb through balls (Weimann pass vs Sheff Utd one example I seem to recall).

He just needs to commit more with his runs down the wing and take players on occasionally. I think that will come though because he’s shown it in glimpses.

Definitely. He’s still young so plenty of time to develop.

We’ve all had a moan about our right hand side . It’s been a problem for years. I fully agree with threads for cam & Zak , George deserves one as well . He was ******* mint today . Especially in a back 4 . He loves a tackle , never shirks one & got forward well

He was fantastic. Looked composed and comfortable at RB, a really solid performance.

  12. I sit in B block, so here’s what I saw. Positives: good atmosphere, they made some noise so there’s that.

Negatives: the newbies to A block treated it as if it were unreserved seating. There were a number standing on the stairwells….and you could see the regulars looking peeved at not being able to get to their seats.

If it’s to continue then there needs to be some give and take in order for the club to allow it, the trouble with some fans is if they’re given an inch they’ll take a yard.

    Another good post.

It’s hard at the mo’ isn’t it?  OTIB I mean, not City ?????

Seriously though, it’s really frustrating, but I don’t got to any game thinking “3 points today”.  We are a team where 8+ players need to have good games to give us a chance of winning.  I still look forward to going though.

The morning of the match, the walk to the ground, grabbing a cuppa, and enjoying the build up still gets me even now. Even when the team’s on a poor run, that pre-match buzz is always a joy.

The 90 minutes spoils it but I’m back again a week later. Suppose that’s what makes football so great-it’s that the highs are fleeting, but when they come God do they feel good.
