Very good at QPR, definitely an element of nostalgia though IMO.

Could it have been due to the refusal to sign a new contract? Not that I condone the booing obvs, given as you say the integral role to the not just promotion but double season under Cotts.

    Agree.
Where on the ‘boo-ometre’ scale does ‘not wanted to sign contract for personal/professional reasons’ fall??

Easy to know what would be at the top end of such a scale though. Such things as saying not wanting your child to grow up talking Bristolian is one!! Shame when Maynard scored what is possibly the best away goal I’ve seen live for City!

  2. Think Bronze was at fault to a large degree. However, she got herself into a position to pass and then if you look the referee stands in the way of the pass - she hestitates - then loses the ball. Spain have been great in all areas but especially in not allowing England time on the ball which other teams have allowed up to now.

  3. Hi.
Every now and again I recall that when I was maybe 8 or 9 - I went to Ashton Gate to have my photo taken (along with lots of other kids)  in amongst the City squad. This I would assume was as part of the annual team photo session. It was in the late 1970s during our time in the old first division.  I have an awful memory so don’t remember much about it. I have very vague memories of sitting amongst the likes of Gow and Ritchie…

For some reason I never received a copy of the photo which was part of the deal. My dad waited for its delivery but it never came and for some unknown reason my dad never chased it up.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? Does anyone have any of these photos? Would love to find the one that includes me.

  4. Have complete empathy for you. I sit in the Dolman and behind me is what must be the biggest whinging granddad I have had the displeasure of listening too. I do sometimes watch the game with my fingers in my ears as I just can’t stand his negativity. Every misplaced pass, every shot that’s off target and in particularly the screaming of players of what they should of done. ‘Oh ‘f*****g Vyner’ ‘Vyner again!!’. He particularly has in it for him and yet Zak has a good chance of player of the season this year.  I really don’t know why he pays a season ticket to watch what he often sees as a horror show. He’s the quietest around us when we score as he’s got nothing to moan about. All this with a grandson alongside him who is beginning to mimic his ways.
I love the familiarity and routine of my regular seat. If it wasn’t for the fact I’ve made good friends around me I would of moved by now. We all like a moan but hey ‘Where is the joy?’

  5. No you are not the only one that thinks this. Max has done a great job establishing himself as Number 1(well 12…actually) and is a good stopper and catcher of the ball. However, please please Max kick the ball forward not sideways. You are asking far too much from our wide players to keep the ball in play. We give away possession again and again. Aim for the opposite corner flag is more likely to stay in and play to our strengths.

That aside soooo proud of the team today. Played their hearts out. Pring reminds me of the kind of players we had back in the 1980s90s. No messing, aggressive play - gives 150% and leaves the pitch looking like he’s been on a battlefield.

  6. Yes Roger was awful. If Roger was my dad, he’d be the embarrassing dad dancing in the disco or on the mic at a karaoke who thinks he can sing and dance. Roger thought he could commentate but in truth he sounded like an enthusiastic but untrained dad trying to ‘impress’ his family on TV.

    Nice bloke though.

  7. Yes all a mess and i feel sorry for all you guys involved. Me im away and would miss the game either way. Not sure what the reason for it being on the Saturday in the first place was but it does make me wonder if both clubs and maybe the FA have recognised that the Easter weekend has become even more massive than normal for so many teams - must be about 15-20 teams still in with a chance of relegation or promotion- and teams involved playing out of sequence with all of the rest may have a disadvantage or advantage depending on which way you look at it. Just a thought.
