"Educate yourself" isn't going to cut it I'm afraid. I would honestly like to hear more about your stance on this.
Who the **** do you think you are exactly ?

Oh okay. Shy away from actually explaining your position when someone calls you out on your baseless agenda. Cool.
Or can't be bothered to explain myself to brain dead idiots. Try googling wet markets of China, or maybe read the book published in 2011 predicting this exact thing and how it would start. But yeah a baseless agenda you absolute belter. Now toddle off and bury your head .

I believe in the monarchy yes. Didn't say less important and your dad could easily get a test for copd if he's showing symptoms like Charlie as your dad clearly in the high risk category.
Covid19 doesn't recognise class or privilege or gets everyone.
What does I believe in the monarchy mean ..?

Do you get the feeling we're not being told the complete story concerning this virus.

Thank you gents. As I mentioned, it doesn't affect me personally but i have many friends that are self employed and they just don't know what happens if and when they have to stop working.
I am self employed, so am waiting nervously for the announcement

And just how is China responsible?
If you don't know, I honestly cant help you.

Sorry Delta, my question was badly worded.
i'm not saying a self employed person would pass savings on to a client. If they cannot work and claim the figure quoted by the gov't, would that be tax free or would that go to the business and be taxable on any self assessment in the future?
The talk is of a 3 year average of net pay.

Just.... wow.
Could you elaborate a little please?
SARS ,Avian flu , Covid 19...can you see a pattern emerging or is it just me.

I can't see it collapsing because there is too much money sloshing around in the Premier League; individual clubs can mess up but for every imploding Sunderland or Bolton there is a Bournemouth ready to step up and take their place.
The only thing that would rescue English football would be if the Chinese league really took off and became the de facto best in the world league that the EPL is at present.
Then all the top players would head there for the money and the TV subscriptions would follow leaving the EPL with much reduced TV income and much more reliant upon gate receipts.
India has done similar with cricket so maybe this will happen at some point. I can't see that anything else will save English football.
I hope China crashes and burns after the shit storm it's put on the whole world to be honest.

You tarred an entire sector with the same brush.
If somebody has low tax returns, then naturally, they would only be entitled to minimal support. However, currently, they don't even have that.
People always think the grass is greener on the other side. Your view of the self-employed being some kind of Del boy figure with wads of cash in their pockets and under the floorboards being an example.
You should try living the life of the self-employed for a while. My experience of them is that it's not so rosy - Certainly, many are not in the position to turn work down (to sit at home instead) because someone offers cash. In fact, in this day and age, cash payments are becoming rarer and rarer as people realise the importance of keeping paper trails and proof of transfer of funds.
Many self-employed don't even have a choice - They are told that is how they are going to be employed by unscrupulous employers. They work on zero hours contracts and don't enjoy many benefits and rights that others take for granted - Again, I urge you to try living that life for a while and see how you enjoy it. Many will already have been told there is no work for them, no notice, no holiday pay, just dropped like a lead balloon with no income moving forward.
Taxi drivers are normally self-employed for example. We all take them for granted - Pick up a phone and one appears to take us from A to B for a few pounds. I dare say they don't declare all of their earnings. I would go further and suggest that if they did, once running costs are factored in, they are more or less working for minimum wage, perhaps even less.
Tax evasion is rife - From the pennies that the self employed don't declare, right up to the thousands of pounds that big businesses don't declare or the millionaire football manager who opens foreign bank accounts in the name of their dog.
I'm self employed and totally agree with this.

Indeed, but they have to come up with summat very quickly as people won't give up working as long as customers are comfortable with it - no work, no money, unlike salaried employees.
Thats why they should have had the self employed sorted before announcing a lock down.
Had a fit out tomorrow booked in took 3 days to build in the workshop. Van loaded out for the morning, customer rings and cancels after tonight's announcement.

It would have helped if an announcement re self employed was made before a lock down announcement.
Fingers crossed m8.

Decent point. Has to be an announcement concerning the self employed soon surely.

You sure mate? I really hope you are as it means I can still get some income while all this shit is happening. Do we know for certain that you can still go to work if you are unable to work from home.
Merchants will be closed though won't they ?

Been told the police have been given Gold Command. No idea what that is tbh, but it sounds ominous.

Can we just cancel 2020 now. I’ve had enough.
Here is mine so far...
January 3rd - brother diagnosed out of blue of having 3 aggressive brain cancers and has ‘short months’ to live
January 10th - paralysed down his right side he is discharged from hospital to die, where he lives with his girlfriend and our 90 year old mother
January 20th - take over my mothers pension and bank account as brother is paralysed to find out they have extracted and spent over £50000 of her savings. I have no idea what is was spent on and they are not saying
January 22nd - I predict to my partner that now the raping of my mothers finance has stopped, so will her care so and mother will be dead in 6 months. Try to get her extra care, social services not interested
Feb 25th Get a call from brothers sister that mother had taken a fall and had been rushed into hospital
Feb 27th mother dies with fractured skull from the fall. Coroner refuses to release body for funeral as the body needs to go to autopsy due to ‘unusual injuries’
March 9th autopsy completed, cause of death obvious, how it happened open to interpretation. No further action taken
March 13th. Finally received death certificate and funeral booked for March 24th
March 19th funeral postponed due to corona virus
anyone able to ‘beat this’?
Sorry for your loss.

If you think that Johnson goes up to the scientists and says “what is our policy then?’ And they tell him what’s best and he says “okay, thanks. We will do that then”, you are woefully naive.
Or you can say we are on course to repeat Italy despite having two weeks on them!!
I'll stand by my original comment.

You are coming across like a bit of dick in this m8, let it go . The government is acting on the scientific advice what the **** else are they meant to do. They're politicians and they genuinely don't want people to die. Vote Labour in 4 years if it makes you feel better.

Just watched channel 4 news interview a woman in a crowded London street proudly saying she won't follow social distancing advice because "it means we're just giving in" to it. Unbelievable.
Hopefully natural selection takes care of these belters. My local butcher told me today that this is a government conspiracy. Be careful these people walk among us.

Ok I'll pander to you. Let's call me John .
John is a self employed Carpenter with a small cabinet making business. John has a 9 year old daughter. John enjoys football on a Saturday and spending time with his wife and family. Now one day some sick minded Chinese person who likes to stuff live animals in cages so they can eat them ,sometimes alive ! Scoffs down **** knows what bat, lizard ,dog ,******* unicorn maybe and guess what this new virus is born. Obviously they didn't think it would happen, apart from the fact it had happened a few years previously. Now back to John and his boring life . Suddenly John's family are in danger his older frail relatives have to self isolate and are in real danger of death due to underlying health issues. John's business is ****** it relied on working in people's homes. Now John is home Schooling his daughter because obviously all the schools are closed. They can only leave their home for essentials which are sometimes difficult to get because of panic buying .This situation is repeated in every city across the world . So to summarise
**** YOU CHINA.
Hope this helps.
