Against Bournemouth in the JPT on the way to the final in 2000.
That's the one. Cheers. Thought I could remember one about that time.

I remember one against Colchester in the League cup, but that was when the Atyeo opened.
Wasn't that one I was thinking of. I was overseas in the Navy for most of 1995. I'll try and think.

I've got it in my head that we had a penalty shoot out at the Gate at some point in the late 90's or very early 00's. I seem to remember the opposition manager moaning like **** that the ref chose to have the penaltys taken shooting towards the Atyeo and that it wasn't fair.

Important news from Radio Bristol. Liam is heading down the tunnel to visit the dressing room for a piss apparently.
Not sure how they've got that scoop.

An back to square one.
I need to know if anyone's been chanting rude things about Roger Malone?

Old skool
If you're looking for it in the Evening Post it will be in the small box on the bottom left of the back page under the headline article claiming that despite the defeat to Fleetwood the sags are still on target for promotion.

Here's the video of the incident, elbowing Megan Connolly in apparent view of the ref...
We did say on the day that the Ref was a homer. She may as well have been wearing a Villa shirt at times.
Thankfully it's been dealt with now.

I like the one about half way down where I think Connolly & Daly had a slight disagreement, Daly had a go at one of our other players later if I recall.
She didn't like to mix it up. Came across as a bit of a moaner hence the "Rachel Daly's in a strop" chant which raised a laugh even from the home support.

He's looking longer term than you. I thought it was a good interview (must listen again), explained lots of things, and even accounting for how bullish he is on everything Bristol City, I see a good plan and a decent execution in this window. The proof will be the performance of the players over time. But for me, he seems to be continuing the good work that has been building over 2 years.
This may be very true and in any normal season, the long term development of the squad is not an issue, infact its welcomed. This season however, the comments made in the wake of NP's sacking will hang like a noose around his neck. "Top 6 Squad" and "Should be doing better with the players we have" etc. If what was really needed was the long term continued development of young players to carry the club further forward and higher in the table (Another attempt at the Lansdown Plan) then great, but what would be the difference doing that under a new manager to doing it under the one we already had?
This was a long term transfer window. It clearly shows once again, the top six bollocks spoken about 3 months ago, was just that. BS. Another season goes by where we are in a holding patter while we wait to blend in the new lads and bring them up to speed.
Back to the topic of the thread, we did some decent transfer business in this window but nothing that's going to see in the short term. As long as we understand that then we are all good.

Really enjoyed the game. Hopefully the ladies can take some confidence from this point. It was great to see the effort to come back twice from going behind.
I think we showed Villa a little too much respect with the really poor first 15 from us not helping with that. Villa didn't cope well when we ran at them but we didn't get the quality of ball forward often enough to cause them real trouble. The best aspect of our play was causing Villa to lose the ball in midfield where we pressed them well at times. We picked up a number of loose balls and mixed it up well.
The "Rachel Daly's in a strop" chant got a laugh even from the Villa fans.
A final minute of putting ourselves under needless pressure in our own box led to a heart in mouth moment and I'll have to watch the game back tonight on TV but it did look like the ball struck one of our players on the arm / hand. The Ref seemed to be a homer with a couple of decisions going against us or missed for us.
Overall though, it was a good point. Only time will tell if that's something we can build back on.

Went to sleep at the back 2-1 Villa.

The first 15 minutes were poor and we were almost 2 goals behind before Villa scored their first. We have slowly grown in confidence over the rest of the half and our goal was well taken. Pressing them well in Midfield now. Fingers crossed we keep pushing on in the second half.

Well that's a bit shit.

Feels like we are very disorganised at the back so far. Riding our luck at times.

I see Matty Taylor has joined the Dog Botherer for the third time, moving from FGR to Cheltenham Town.

Short-sighted and useless from those in charge
Trying to actually pin down who the hell is in charge is something of a puzzle. According to the main site, Gavin Marshall is the Chairman but he's not listed as such on the companies house website. He does though have 9 different dirctorship roles across all of the Bristol Sports groups. There isn't one person who is not at least doubled up in various other jobs. The main site also shows Kevin Hamblin as a director however, he resigned according to companies house, in December last year.
Its a bloody mess and a slap in the face to the players and those fans who have turned out and got behind the ladies this season.

I just don't get it. It was clear the last time we went down that the Womens game was getting bigger and bigger and yet our ownership did next to nothing to prevent us dropping out of the top flight and now, with great support and the WSL very much a place where decent investment brings bigger rewards, we're slipping out of it again.
The Womens Championship gets stronger each season which makes it more difficult to get back up again.
Why do the Landsdowns bother if they're not going to take it seriously? They binned the first City Womens team in 2007 and then, when it soon became apparent that was a mistake as the ladies game rapidly grew, they bought some one elses team. Then, after going to all that effort to bring it back into the City fold they preside over a season by season decline in the WSL and then relegation. When we get back into the WSL, they standby and watch the team struggle all over again. Bizarre.
