Pretty much ever manager at every club operating at this level is working with hefty operational losses.
However, at this club, signing fees were paid with selling fees.
But only we have outspent all other clubs outside of parachute payment recipients under LJs tenure, and increased our wage spending in the last 3-4 years by near 50%.
In hindsight the MA/LJ era has set us back to 2011, outside of infrastructure. Culture is toxic, wages are a mess, scouting nonexistent. Relying on our academy now.

I see Swansea having appointed a progressive young manager won 4-0 at Reading, why oh why don’t our club have the imagination to appoint someone like that
In theory; whats so different between LJ and Martin at the times of which they were appointed to oursleves and Swansea respectively?
I'd argue it was LJ's inexperience and lack of playing identity - along with Ashton's poor wage control and contract lengths that utterly fudged us - but overall we needed an old head to sort things out. We'd become and still are a bloated misshapen husk at the moment.
The real devastating about the former two's stewardship - is that it stripped all leaders, cohesion, and identity (i.e. Cotts era) from the club. No matter if thats us, Swansea, or another clubs entirely, its a horrific job to try and tackle - even if you're NP. My comparison would be Stoke when they came down - basically the sane scenario, but 3 times the wages blown; or Forest, if you're talking similar standard.

We always get dominated in midfield when Nagy and Massengo play every time.
Fulham away would disagree with you.

Fair to say.
It's going to be a long, interesting, tough summer.

Really?! Reading this forum in recent days you'd think we were relegated already, reaction to one loss - against a top, top side - has been frankly ridiculous.
I think more worried we wouldn't be staying up due to our own quality but the situations of others.
Of which QPR are a prime example.

Not ideal. Not the best performance. By far and away definately not against the best opposition.
I stated we needed a win tonight. And thank **** we managed it.
Momentum and the confidence from that could be priceless. Performances need to improve, let's go to the Liberty and just go for it. We need to play without the fear.
If Pato's back in that team however I'm going to be so annoyed. O'Dowda in for Watkins would be my only change.

In fairness Kelly is primarily à Centre back .
Issue is that Sheffield were much more disciplined and professional in the first half. If situation improves that drastically at HT, only one person to m blame imo.
And thats not counting the season since Jan.

I think you are forgetting a certain SOD
SOD didn't have the club record for games without a win, not to mention this number of losses in such a short space of time.

Does our current style of football have an identity though? We dont even have a set team selection that has lasted more than a match, have we? I honestly dont know.

If they sack LJ, I want you as manager.
Gary Rowett. Set style of football and stupid how he lost his job in the first place. Although Finbarr would be a close second.

Thing I dont buy is this "I need X time/tranfers-windows" bullshit that LJ prattles on about. Jaap Stam has spent something along the lines of a 5th of what we have, mostly signing free agents. Reading have no proven goalscorer, yet play in a disciplined pressing style.
We cant close down the ******* guy crossing the ball.

Pretty weak defence of SC when LJ came in and they improved tenfold last season
To be completely fair, that was namely because of some wise acquisitions by Pembo before LJ came in during Jan, and put his stamp on the team e.g (at the time anyhow) O'Donnell, leading to a stronger defence, and allowed LJ to experiment.

For those who are saying there are people with an 'irrational' dislike of LJ, its hardly irrational. I have at no stage had anything against little Lee - personally; but I'm hard pressed to accept his recent team selection and tactics, nor his seeming endless tinkering and rotation policy.
Some people obviously feel that there are mistakes being made, people will have differing opinions, such is life.

Just seen Flinty's goal. Brownhill is playing well, but more importantly can take a corner.
Unless hes injured, and he doesn't play against
ReadingIpswich due to Jonno's rotation policy with the midfield, I'm going to be fuming.- 1

This is the first time since Wilson where we seem to have a decent core of players for all positions.
Yet when we have such a scenario we play people out of position...

To put it in perspective, as results stay as current (Rotherham winning, us loosing), we will have a worse record in out last 9 games than bottom of the league.
Putting it blunt. Thats ****ing disgraceful. And worse than the December run during which Cotterill was sacked.

The decline started when McIndoe and Adebola left, both have never been replaced, hence why we're back in L1.
And Carey despite the fact he never left...

From what I recall from the Maguire posts on Twitter - we at least did it two season runnings (18-19, 19-20).
The latter we spent upwards of £25m.
