A couple of 'City rejects' showing us how it is done tonight too. How is it we sign players and they immediately become less effective, a la Bailey Wright? Preston must be laughing all the way to the bank; just look at their goal scorers - how many did they even pay fees for, or sign from a higher level? We started with a midfielder we signed from a team who were third in the German top league; Preston's first goal scorer was a free from Morecambe.

Terrible set of fixtures for us today if we can do no better than a point; Burton host Forest (draw is rubbish if we can't get three points; either winning is a problem too), Blackburn head to Norwich (the former in decent form, the latter now managerless and apparently sporting a divided dressing room) and Wolves have a visit from Rotherham (so I would suggest a home banker there). Another weekend where anything other than a win is unlikely to help us at all. Just hope the players know that (not bothered about the coaching staff; they are just an unfortunate complication now). A freshly hammered team? At home? Sounds like the ideal match for a new head coach to use to run the rule over his squad. That said; don't expect anything to change on that front - imagine Norwich will come here wanting to correct that result, and being we tend to be accommodating on the front, think the Canaries will give us a hiding.

And they missed an open goal. Forget the minutiae of individual games; we're here after LJ has had two windows, significant investment, plenty of time with the current squad, and all the rest. We are now in the bottom three; I don't believe that if we cannot beat Burton at home (after we beat them away first part of the season, as we did Villa, Leeds and Fulham too) at this point, then we are unlikely to get the wins we need to get out of it. As I've said; we might go down with someone else in as head coach, but I believe we are more likely to than not with LJ in charge.

Nil nil. Please, LJ; explain how one win in half a season, and our pirouette into the relegation zone represents any kind of process - we beat four of our last five opponents in the first half of the season, which suggests something has gone wrong since, and all on your watch. LJ out. Now. We might still go down without him, but I am now convinced we'll go down with him.
