I sort of get your point and I was going to argue that this is a forum to discuss all things football, but then realised that we were talking about the Gas and my argument just fizzled away really.
-
I had the DAB channel on at kick off before I realised it was going to be the GAS on there, even their summariser (the equivalent of Adam Baker) has bought into the bullshit, saying how they had become one of the richest teams in football overnight! That's ALL football apparently, I kid you not!

It's ok he has been told they have "potential" they night even reach 8000 by the end of the season.

He is in the middle of building a ground we can all be proud of and has written off almost as much in investment than these Jordanians are worth. In what way does he need a kick up the arse and what else should he be spending his money on? In terms of FFP he can't just go and spend a fortune on players can he?

I am sure that Higgs and co have followed the route of previous Gas Chairmen and boards. Played the "big I am" for a few years made lots of promises and then got themselves rescued at the last minute. They are running down Gloucester Road now with most of the money in their pockets, hoping no one notices them behind the smokescreen they have laid behind them. The only other people to benefit from this will be the venture capitalists who they had borrowed the money from.

I am not so sure, I haven't read all the thread on their forum but does it go into so much detail about who is involved and which son would be the driving force on the board? That seems quite detailed for a cut and paste job. More to the point, have these guys been shown the books and be happy to fund UWE?

The mistake was made by their accountants who ever they maybe. Maybe they made the mistake of employing "Turf" accountants It does seem a strange error to make though, a typo would have maybe transposed a figure or two, I wonder where they got the 1.5m figure from?

The Return of the Five Pillars .. Yayyyy...

Not really, their stated aim is to try and build a team within that structure. However if a key player that could complete the team became available, a 28 year old striker for example, they would look at that situation on an individual basis. The problem would surely come if you were to stick to a policy so rigidly that it was to the detriment of the club. -

Remind me how much Bolton owe? Do you think they will be able to right that ship anytime soon? Portsmouth really? I might be wrong, but as things stand they look terminal cases...... -

I am pretty sure (although I can't point to specific quotes) that SL has always said, that if the right player becomes available that falls outside that rule that they would still pursue that player. -

I worked in the Casino industry for 15 years and I can tell you that just throwing more money at a problem is not a recipe for success. People cite Pompey as an example of getting short term success at a long term price, but there are many more, some had a bit of success for longer, but all are struggling now. Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn Rovers, and so on. I am sure there are people out there that would swap an F.A. Cup win or a spell in the Premier league for the long term life of the club, but I am not one of them. -

Leicester City are top of the Premiership with a team that cost them £22.5m to put together, they have tried to buy success in the past and got themselves into lots of debt, but they must be getting back to a sustainable financial setting by now. I realise that their position is a rare, but teams like Swansea and Southampton had to build themselves in a similar way. I think it can be done, they may have to revise their idea of what they will have to pay out to get the return they want, but that will be their decision. -

I am not so sure CR, the return of Ashton in a more permanent position suggests they are serious in their intent. As regards to my take on things above, I think they are unable to be too critical of SC, because he had such success it would upset fans even more than saying nothing. -

I said in a previous post that I feel this is where the conflict with SC came about. I think they ripped up parts of the "5 pillars" on a temporary basis because they were taking too long to implement (in the case of the stadium) or provide results in the case of bringing kids through. Cotts was brought in to firefight the situation and was actually more effective than anyone could have thought possible. When this season started I think they wanted to return to this process, but Cott's was clearly not happy to have his control reduced. I think the board were waiting for an opportunity to hit the reset button and he gave them the opportunity by being so obstinate in his tactics and team selections. I am happy to have a long term plan in place, you can only firefight successfully for so long, before you have to employ other tactics. -
Well that was Sheringham's first and maybe last taste of Management whereas LJ has already proved himself to be a manager. If you read Harry's post elsewhere you will see an excellent run down of what he has done already. I am interested in your "circus" quote though..... what circus was that? The one that got us promotion? the one that got us within a goal of the premier league? You're right we don't want anything like that again do we?

Has recovered Barnsley from an incredibly bad run to get within 5 points of the play offs. The run they went on was reminiscent of the one his dad had here initially. Luckily for both of them their boards, held their finger off the fire button long enough to turn things around. He may not have Championship experience, but he was around the club in the Championship under his father and he must have picked some tips in that time. Personally I think he will show loyalty to Barnsley in return and see if he can reach the playoffs.

Agreed but WBA had some big players in there (seems to have been a club trait over the years) and I didn't think Bobby was out muscled on Saturday. I think that tiredness may have played a part tonight, but many on here have decided he will never be good enough based on this game so I find myself in the minority once again.
