I know it was wrong, but Martin was such a **** about it.

    As usual.

Just saw that on the replay, absolutely scummy behaviour trying to get his opposing manager sent off for what was a clear accident. Zero respect.

  2. With all this talk recently for blue cards for cynical fouls, why are the refs not protecting the current system they have by booking players who commit them? Numerous times Saints players did this in the first half and the ref did not book them.

Agreed. I'm surprised so many were fairly keen to let him go at the end of the season.

James was excellent tonight and deserved MOTM. Also a shout out to Dickie and Mehmeti who were worthy MOTM contenders.

To be fair I think most were happy to see him go thinking we would persist with the 5 at the back and 2 in midfield which leaves him exposed.

He is a monster in a midfield 3 like tonight and has many more good years in him if that is the way we want to go. I hope we do!

They were, most because it was 2 slow midfielders against a team built around quick movement and creating overloads all over the pitch, which more or less meant that there was nothing to shield them.

Yep, I find it hard to point fingers at individual players tonight because the system clearly did not suit them or the match and it was insane to not try to change it.

Knowing Nige like we do laughing I would think as he knew exactly what was going on and what would happen; as did we to be fair.

It’s all a bit jarring but Max Bird is a good player so no denying that I think.

The deal is another interesting one. Is loaning back to the clubs our new strategy of getting deals done? Not sure where all this leaves the academy now, maybe it’s complimentary. The going back on loan approach is clearly a risk but there is less chance of him getting injured with them than us!

I think we wanted this player in the summer and this was how to get him. Derby were not going to let him go in Jan, and we still have James on the books until the end of the season. So this was the smartest way of doing it.
