Oh to have a goal scorer!
Please sign one - we are in such desperate need for someone to be clinical in front of goal!
We have a goal scorer, the problem is that he is isolated and we don’t create enough chances.

Been exceptional recently as well as last weekend. Has made one error, as many Champ goalkeepers will do from time-to-time.

Pretty low quality half this, hopefully due to the pitch more than burnout or other factors.

When will the replay be? Will have to try and make the trip

O’Leary has been CLASS today.

Manning FFS do Wells for Knight just once
Shape is working well this week so no qualms from me on this occasion.

Why did he not put the flag up

We really struggle with crossing the ball, none of our players possess a great cross.
it wouldn’t matter if we didn’t focus play down the flanks

I mostly agree although if I were to counter I would say that our attacking options are limited at best and going 3 at the back means having to do yet another significant change in terms of playing staff, tactical setup, etc which is very unlikely to happen given how much it woukd cost.
We pretty much do go 3 at the back in the build up, Tanner tucks in and Pring surges forward. Less noticeable today but McCorie mentioned it on comms in the Brum match.

He's being hampered by the fact he's stood almost man to man, Tanner needs to overlap more. The threat of it would force a cover and eliminate the 1v2 doubling up.
Meanwhile TGH needs to get closer to Anis when latter cuts in. No option when he cut inside to another 2v1 towards the latter end of that half.
Small issues are accumulating to a very mediocre performance. Sloppy passes, too casual.
We are playing a back 3 with Tanner as the third centre half on the build up. McRorie said it on comms, so Tanner is not overlapping for that reason.

Best half of football under Manning.
Back 4 have been immense. Pring gets all the plaudits due to his physicality, but Tanner, criminally underrated by some, has also been outstanding defensively and makes us so hard to beat.
TGH needs to be signed up immediately. He is everywhere. James is a class act but I think with the style of football LM wants to play, the mobility of this midfield 3 is the best fit we have.
Mehmeti looking confident again and it’s now exciting to see him on the ball.
Conway is getting in some good spaces, needs to work on his link up play a little as has been a bit wasteful, but that will come!
Watching this on a beach in Jamaica and so glad I am… COYR!!

Lot more dynamic with Williams on for James. I wonder if there is something in that.

Hope the emergency services switchboard is well manned. There will be a record number of robberies reported if we win this.

Hull will be disappointed with this score so far!
-
We’re always wide open in midfield under Manning.

I’m aware that he needs time, but it is alarming to see the number of attempts on goal the opposition regularly have, as well as the lack of clear cut chances we seem to be creating.

Controversial but this is mostly Nigel Pearson's team, and according to most on here we are not playing well or are not very good, so who are we blaming?
We aren’t trying to play in the style we did under Pearson so your point is a bit moot.

Nige would not have put up with that pen being given, I’m not convinced the ref would have the balls to give it if he was still in charge!
-
They were lucky to win that pen, but I am very impressed by Hull.

This is taking me back to the LJ days where I’d realise through the match that I’d spent more time scrolling through OTIB than actually watching it.

Can’t remember wanting the season to be over so early.

It’s great having more possession but not when you just kick it straight to the opponent after 3-4 passes
-
He is clearly training with the first team and that will benefit him just as much in the long run as getting minutes just for the sake of it where he is perhaps not quite there yet.

So do you think if we brought a goal scorer in we would start scoring goals? I would argue that we need to focus on our chance creation more. No point bringing another number 9 in to also have no service.
