He would have had 12 months left on his deal and therefore his value would decrease. His injury was known as well as he missed the first game of the season because of it. He would not fire us to promotion as he would be either injured or out of match fitness for almost half of the season. So I would call that more of a “pipe dream” than a “promotion gamble”.

So would you keep Scott for another year, when he can’t play for 3 months injured, and then sell him at £12million next summer? I would say that is mediocrity in terms of decision making.

To counter the doom and gloom, I think we were the better team but not clinical enough and wasted some good chances on the final third. Stoke were the worse team but took their chances. Look where we both are in the table. Performances will average out into more points even with a result like today

I found it crazy that he never got an offer from lower Prem or just relegated Champ team, ridiculous amount of assist and always had a good work rate and loads of recoveries. Only had 12 months left on his deal too if I remember properly

I think it’s very optimistic to think that he will be anything to us this season even if he is back on the grass. He has done his ACL twice in a row and had his development stifled significantly. It could take years to get back to any sort of level and he might find it hard now to cope with the rigours of the modern game.

I thought that Sam Pearson had left! Is he ever likely to feature for us again?

Think it is fair to say Bell was exceptional today but is still improving and when he finds that consistency will be wanted at that next level, e.g. Semenyo. I think he is a lot better when he can get the ball out of his gf his feet and best defenders for pace.
