    That's brilliant

Really enjoyed those years in the East End, used to just go along on my own but you didn't feel like you were there on your own once you got in the stand. I've been to a lot of games as a neautral and not seen many home atmospheres like that in the modern era

As you appreciated that sketch heres another.

    Geordies away.

Large group of West streets finest are in one of those club come pubs places.

The DJ thinks he a top comedian big noise.

Cracking jokes about Wurzels blocking the motorway and sheep.

The club come pub place is running a karaoke competition for a bottle of champagne.

DJ top noise dares the Bristol City fans to pick a song.

    Our usual suspect strides up.

Gets handed a list of ditties.

    Comes to our boys turn.

Gets asked what’s what and its just the microphone and no music ”.

DJ top noise “ Whoa we’ve got Tom Jones here .. “

    And then the education begins..

“When the moon shines on the Cowshed and we’re rollin in the hay ..”

The place erupts with gangs of City Lads all around the club joining in the chorus.

In a time and place like that there was no need to ask who won.

Our boy drops looks at DJ former top noise tells him to keep the champagne and walks off leaving the mike in Deejs hand with his jaw.

I’m not as old as some, so my most prominent memories are being an ST holder when the East End was reopened. Used to love when the east end would sing I am a cider drinker in full from start to finish

Ive missed away games so much through the pandemic, hoping to get to millwall this week as it’s local for me

Chap who started that was one of the Legends Scooter mates a part of Ingerlund away for years.

    Croatia away.

Over the tannoy came the familiar "When the mooon shines on the Cowshed and were rollin in the hay ...".

Chap had got hold of the mike.

Locked himself in a booth with the PA system waving at his mates and wasn't coming out till he finished.

    Escorted out the ground.

I remember back when the East End was open the accepted issue was the low roof projected sound onto the pitch, and the other stands couldn't hear it even though it sounded really loud in there.

    Top venue that.

    An amp of stand.

    Brilliant to now.

And some may never get that.

    Bristol Sport won't.

Then they moved to the back of the Williams, that was too high up with a large open area in front.

Not that good back in the day alone  .. Good clobber mind.

    No choice but move.

    Rubble was behind the goal.

    Tiny v the Eastend.

    No amp.

Then the Atyeo, and that was too open and too far for the noise to build and people couldn't wait for them to move away from it.

Then the Atyeo that was never a draw v the Eastend for the right sorts.

Now in the SS corner, that's not behind a goal which is apparently part of the problem.

    Christ.

The progress that proper chaps wanted to avoid.

    An embarrassment to lad culture.

  4. Anybody see the Skids at the Locarno?

Strange incident with the support band.

    Called the Edge.

Can't remember what they played or what it was.

But remember that gobbing was a sport.

And the Edge were the target.

Couple of songs in off stormed the lead guitarist after a series of direct hits.

    Then the bassist.

The singer and drummer were made of stronger stuff and using one of the symbols as a gob shield the singer completed their set of only drums and vocals behind the shoulders of the drummer.

Saw Killing Joke in Baff Pavilion supported by Aztec Camera ..

The crowd were about as warm to Aztec Camera as somebody taking a dump on yer carpet ..

  5. When you are young you want to see how far you can push things.

How extreme and mad can we be.

Things went too far that day.

Know a few now regret it.

Had a mate who got eighteen months in the big house for the Reading game.

Wasn't a bad lad and it made a mess of his life.

  6. Don't know if the Baff half is big.

    But ran that.

    Few years back though.

    Aimed for sub 1.30.

    Could have done it.

Started close to the Runners world sub 1.30 pacemakers.

    And at the start ..

Well the pacemakers disappeared and I was surrounded by a close knit shuffle.

    The shuffle lasted a mile.

    Then it was a jog.

Didn't even pant or sweat for three miles.

And then I could start running.

    Finished in 1.34.

  7. A proper serious runner has their nipples removed surgically.

Please tell us how you get on.

You will find they toughen up after lots of running … Seriously.

Try breathable tops and avoid cotton.

    Glide works …

  8. Yes chief.

Was a teen and saw the Clash and the post City Gas dust up … That in 2019 would be front page it was full scale.

And the Damned and the post City Gas dust up.

Crass new Trinity was the gig. Yes there was a dust up but pre gig v the British movement. That small gig changed Punk in Bristol and its politics. For some anyway.

Do you remember gangs of Punk Rockers congregating outside the Virgin Records shop? Yes twas also the eighties.

Thrash and anarcho of the eighties could be Bristols punk heyday Chaos UK, Disorder, Lunatic Fringe, Amebix in squats around St Pauls and the Vice Squad but the not the Vice Squad of now.

We had kicks todays kids can never know … Can smoke, cant squat, drink is expensive, can't protest like the eighties and can't dive off the stage if I could muster enough energy to climb on one.

Is there still a Punk Scene in Bristol? Yes. Check the exchange. Check St Nicks covered market. Easton Pubs. Its not as big, numerous and spiky and has a lot less hair but is still there.

  9. there were no coins being thrwon then? no seats were ripped out then? no officers injured then?

People who have been banned deserve it banter is banter but a small bunch always take it too far and don't see it as a problem

Deserve what? Birching? Branding? Ducking stools?

    Some of them?

    All of them?

As retrospective LIFE bans are being handed out to the wrong sorts for virtually sweet fa how about CRB checking all the fans, employees and players to check they are made of the right stuff to enter this virtuous paragon FC's gaff on Saturdays??

  10. I agree with this entirely. Absolutely nobody is going to be banned or arrested simply for swearing. It's aggressive thuggery resulting in breaking the law that will get you arrested and banned (if convicted). Is it that difficult to understand?

People get banned without conviction from Ashton Gate.

People get banned without thuggi thuggery happening.

With respect all the escalators are not reaching all your floors.

  11. The people arrested are innocent until proven guilty. The violent scum will be proven guilty. The chances are that only those caught on CCTV being violent have been arrested and will therefore likely be convicted.

Seriously is this hard to understand or something?  You may be better off going back to colouring in, just remember not to eat the crayons.

    Madam, sir, baby, child, whatever.

Peoples family and mates are getting life bans for NOT being violent.

  12. For information:

Each year the release of the new kit attracts comments both for and against. The 'lemon peel' shirt of two years ago came in for a lot of criticism from some quarters, yet ended up as our biggest selling away shirt ever. Last years 'star trek' shirt was also not universally liked, yet sold very well, particularly taking into account what a poor season we had and the difficult financial times we all had to face.

As part of our kit deal with Adidas our choices are restricted to the available templates. We also have to order up to a year in advance, to make sure kit is available in the right quantities. So this year's kit was indeed chosen quite some time ago.

Since then, we have set up the Fans Parliament, and embarked on a policy of wider fan engagement and consultation. This means that in future, decisions on kit will be taken in a much more inclusive way.

This is the last year of our current deal with Adidas, which gives us an ideal opportunity to make sure that in the future we get as many supporters as possible involved in how a new kit might look.

We've already started having internal conversations about this. We'll be coming back to fans in the autumn with some proposals for discussion which we hope will address a lot of the issues raised in this and other threads.

In the meantime, if you like the new kit, we very much hope you buy it. If you don't, then of course you have the choice not to.

So why choose bog roll on the arms?
