  1. Was a bit hit and miss before Christmas but the major developments then were behind the scenes. NP had a clear idea of the direction he wanted to go, the backroom and playing staff that needed to go/stay and the style of play he wanted.

Then it all clicked after the WBA game and since then very enjoyable if not a bit frustrating as I don't think we've always had the decisions/luck we've deserved and we quite easily could be sitting 10 points better off. Momentum and positivity are so important in the success of any team and we have started to get it.

Excited about next season but sad that it will be without Scott. Very important transfer window to improve the quality of squad without negatively impacting the togetherness.

Really believe we can do top 6 next year.

It does not tell you that at all

For all you know the team with 39% possession could have had 60 shots and only score twice

The team with 61% could have had only one shot and scored with it

Fair enough, you could interpret it like that too. My point is, it has meaning.??

Possession stats are meaningless. City had 39% against Stoke and won the game…….:dunno:

That stat in its own right has meaning - it tells people that the team who had less of the ball were more clinical in taking their chances and won the game. In my opinion, you have used the wrong word describing them as meaningless. Pointless or irrelevant may have been better.

Style of play is nothing like either of them. Lazy comparison.

I don't really think they were trying to compare, just using 2 players we know to say he is a bit of a mix of the 2.

The energy/running levels of O'Dowda and the flair/excitement of Eliasson.

If so, picked 2 suitable players imo as I got exactly what they meant.

Your seeing the same as me city west , could be nothing in it but ummm I don’t know

I've thought it for a while now whenever he is asked in pressers but the most recent one made me really question it. How can he still be so far behind the others when he has had 2 weeks with no games.

Pearson said it is hard for any player who isn't playing games to be at the right fitness and that they have to work harder in training even though training isn't really suited for them and doing fitness stuff when there's lots of games as they do less, but we've just had 2 weeks with none. A perfect time for him to increase his fitness side of it.

Like I said, something just doesn't feel right. Hoping it's nothing and next year we se a fit Wilson challenging for the rb/rwb birth.

  6. Whenever Pearson talks about Wilson, something just doesn't sound right to me. He seems to say about him having to train flat out and that he is still behind the others on fitness. Who knows, maybe it's nothing and he just needs a preseason but ...

  7. A lot of comments on here talking about the quality before it's even been seen first-hand. One of the comments was about how the data vests could be seen through the yellow shirts but here is a picture of Joe Low playing for Wales in his white Adidas kit with his data vest clearly visible through it. So are Adidas also rubbish quality?

But even IF we did that, for 70 to be enough you'd need either Millwall or Luton to suffer basically relegation form from now until the end of the season, us to better all 6 other teams above us (which we are currently not doing even in our 'good' form), and hope it's one of those freak years where 70 is enough - over the last 10 years or so you typically need 75 minimum.

It's fun to see if we can make it, and it is technically possible, but it is not happening.

Agreed and it is a big if. Bit equally we could also improve our form and get more wins in the next 9 and be pushing on 75.

I just want to keep believing but I accept reality is it is unlikely.

So hang on a minute, Let's get this straight for a second .

You make a point that we could make the play-offs, because our form since Boxing Day has been so good.

It's then pointed out to you, that despite our 'good' form since boxing day, we are now further away from the play-offs than we were then and that it is nowhere near enough.

And you think that if we continue that form, maths will magically rewrite it's rules and we might make the play-offs?

Robbored with his outstanding logic as ever .

It doesn't matter that we are further away points wise imo. If we repeat our form from the last 9 over the next we'll be on 61 points with another 4 games to play. If we can win 3 of them we get to 70.

Yes a lot of ifs but our form is there, so mathematically not rewriting of rules needed. 70 points gives us a fair chance.

  10. If we win on Saturday against Cardiff, that will be 20 points from the last 10 games.

Now forget about how many teams are between 6th and us amd who has to play who, if we can do the same from the following 10 and then pick up a win from the remaining 2 games, that will see us on 70 points.

70 points will be enough to give us a chance of the play offs. It may end up being not enough but we just need to concentrate on ourselves and what we can do.

The rest is out of our control and, as Nige would say, there is no point wasting too much time or energy on those things.

  11. I'm as bad as anyone for checking results and being eternally optimistic but I'm trying to fight my instincts.

Regardless of what anyone else does, 70 points gets you close to the play offs. If we keep up our 50% draw and 50% win ratio from our last 6 games we get to 69 points. If we can do slightly better than that and cross the 70 point line, we'll be in with a shout.

    Keep believing.

  12. How I see it is that we have a very fluid front line.

Most, with the exception of Sykes and Mehmeti could spearhead a front 3. All could play on the right, maybe with the exception of Mehmeti tho always nice seeing a left footer play on the right and cut in. The same for the left with maybe the exception of Sykes. Weimann, Sykes, Cornick could all operate as a 10 I would have thought. And if we wanted to play 2 up, we could have multiple pairings. I would have said probably Mehmeti and Sykes are the only 2 who I don't see as 'out and out strikers'.

Love that we have so many options and others have said, succession planning for when Weimann and Wells need to play less.

  13. Would love us to beat Man City but obviously staying in the Championship is more important. Just ondered if people would take a win and only get 4 or 5 points in the next 5 league games or prefer to lose and win 12 points?

    Thoughts?

Those stats wouldn’t just be the keeper , it’s the whole team defending better . A keeper alone doesn’t just keep the ball out of the net .

Agreed, defending is more than just the keeper but the stats improved when the keeper changed. The players in front of him were largely the same.

Cost cutting and not signing a contract are to sides of the same coin. We can no longer offer the wages he wants in his contract.

Honestly this is potentially some very good relegation preparation by Wolves. Sign a cheap experienced Championship goalkeeper with stats in the top ten of keepers in the division. Simultaneously send your young lad on loan to the Championship. Then if you go down and have to sell your current main man you've got a ready made no.1 and a no.2 who's already cut his teeth.

Nice little fee and when saving for us. Win win.

Depends on what stats you use. Sure I read a stat saying this season for us he was averaging more than 2 goals conceded per game yet since Max came in it has gone to lower than 1.5.

Not sure if I was a Wolves fan, I'd be excited about him. Those stats aren't exactly Championship standard let alone Prem.

There’s no way in hell it costs that much. They plucked that figure out of thin air IMO.

When you think you now have to pay £1 for 5 stickers even if you were the luckiest man  in the world and got them without any swaps it would cost over £100 as there's usually over 500 stickers to collect. I could easily believe that figure.
