    No

I had this conversation the other day, about how Yorks - Lancs, Middx - Surrey are ALWAYS shown live, but none of the Glos - Somerset games are

I think that Sky have chosen that classic local derby of the Birmingham Bears v the Worcestershire Rapids ahead of Glos v Somerset!

So who's going to the big game Friday night?

Hopefully the first of two local derby victories for Somerset this weekend

I'll be there in the "home" end, well in front of the flats, hoping to catch a few from Michael "Maxi" Klinger in what well may be his last appearance in Bristol (unless we can squeeze into the top 2!).

    up yo 2nd !

I don't believe we've been in the top tier since its inception ?

I had a feeling that we had a brief stint in Division1, found this on Wiki:-

    2 divisions since 2000 (2000–2003 D2, 2003–2005 D1, 2006– D2)
    Division 2 – 2003 – 3rd – promoted to Division 1, 2005 – relegated to Division 2

    DONE!!

What a run chase- what a week for the 3 sides supported on this forum!

I refused to believe until it came down to 10 to get- not that we'd lose but cautious etc...we do seem to love the late drama, similar feeling to the Leicestershire win though that was different in size etc.

You were quite right @Super you called it early that the win was on- I refused to believe until late on of course...

What I should add too, not only the 2 late wins chasing but winning by 13 runs when it looked unlikely v Worcestershire- what a run!

Somerset too found a way to win and really pulled it out of the bag well. Hope they win the title and we get top 3- next season West Country derby.

Also brilliant news for Bristol, Glos CC, and the West Country cricket scene in general is that England play Australia in the 3rd ODI in July 2020 in Bristol.

Important win tonight but they should really have knocked those off in some overs fewer to up the RR. 100- 1 from 11 should have been 140 from 15 max not 18

Yes a great win after a good start from Hants, we pegged them back really well.  I know what you mean about the run rate, but it is probably getting the balance right,  Hampshire suffered when they started trying to whack 6's after the power play and were constantly getting caught on the boundary.  Would agree though that once we were virtually home and dry we might have upped the ante a bit.  Still pleased with the win, shame City lost but hey-ho it was only the cup!

Shame the rain came today, Glos were well in that game.

As a big Glos fan, not so sure that we could have squeezed M'sex enough in the last few balls, especially with Malan still there and they had plenty of batting if required, so will have to take that one.  We need to beat Hants on Tuesday in Bristol (going to that one) and then see how things unfold in the 2 local derbies.  We are suffering big time with Michael Klinger's lack of batting form and Benny Howell's injury could be a problem for us.  My prediction is that we have no chance of a top 2 (home tie) finish but could get into the quarter finals, but worried that we  might miss out on our inferior run rate. Still all to play for though!

  7. Just got back from the Glos game, totally outplayed by an Essex team who were thrashed last night, and seemed a lot more up for it than we did. Higgins and Taylor gave it a good go near the end but too little to late.  Our fielding, and "body language" when fielding was atrocious (unusual for Glos)!  Oh well won't be going Sunday afternoon as otherwise engaged at AG!!

  8. That was a great game, with an incredible finish. Thought Glos were dead and buried before last 3 overs, a great bit of luck with AJ Tye's 2 boundaries over the keeper and then down to 3rd man area, but he rode that bit of luck with a brilliant 6 and I felt a tinge of disappointment that we only got a "Tye", but the way the whole game was going will happily take the point and hope to beat Essex tonight (got my ticket so looking forward to this one)!

Glos beat Midzex in the hit and giggle cup. Got no interest in this form, but apparently, we always beat them at this game .........so if you like ,they are like City's  Fulham !

Yes a good win, although they made slightly harder work of it by losing wickets near the end.  Watched it on the live stream, as this one sold out weeks ago.  Love all forms of the game, but I know The Blast/Big Bash isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Agree about the Fulham thing but, it seems for as long as I can remember (which is a bloody long time!) we seem to have a disproportionate amount of success in any form of the game during the Cheltenham Festival.  This festival we have won both our 4 dayers, today's T/20, and we would surely have beaten Glamorgan in last weeks Blast if not for a downpour, which washed out what was left of Glam's innings, and we couldn't start ours.  But I remember regularly going up there back in the days of the John Player Sunday League and, however good or bad our season was going we always seemed to win at Cheltenham! Edit: not sure why this post ended up looking like it does!!

Was mentioned indeed and covered- just, but we're still alive for top 3 and maybe even race for 2nd.

Yes, my mistake, had been out during the evening and hadn't noticed the Glos stuff.  Looks like today's T20 at Cheltenham v Glamorgan could be affected by the weather:grr: (severe understatement!), shame as this one sold out weeks ago

  11. Never mind that team from Taunton, the official "One Team in Bristol" of County Cricket, the mighty Glos, had a fantastic last over win in their 4 day home game against Leicestershire (albeit at Cheltenham?!!)

Anyone off to watch England tomorrow? Any idea what the attendance will be?

Yes, ordered my ticket on Saturday after taking a weather check and watching a good deal of the game at Southampton.  Quite a few of the stands have sold out, but there are still a few pockets of seats available, so I would imagine that some would be available on the day, probably best to phone up the club or get there early, gates open at 11.00am.  I have got myself a seat in the back row of the no-alcohol stand (by choice as I won't be drinking and am happy to watch over-the-top Mexican Waves and beer snake constructions from a safe distance)  in front of the flats.  Really looking forward to it.

I think, with the additional stands, there is a capacity of around 14,000 - 15,000.  Looking at the Glos site, I think they had a bigger capacity for the England v India T20 last season, but that was played in July, with the season in full swing,  and sold out before Xmas, but that game was on a Sunday afternoon.  When I originally saw this one was mid-May when it is usually cold and damp, thought I would leave it until nearer the time!

  13. Very sad to hear from their official website that Gloucestershire spinner Tom Smith's wife passed away on Thursday of last week. Condolences, Tom is around 31, I'm guessing his wife was around the same age, and she leaves behind 2 young children. RIP.

  14. Watching Glos play Sussex at the Brightside tonight reminded me of watching Lancs v Birmingham on TV last night.  Glos already qualified for the QFs , but Sussex really needing to win to have a chance of the QFs, be it home or away.   Lancs, already in the QFs, were crushed by Birmingham last night as the Bears had to win, same with Sussex (although not a crushing defeat), they wanted it more..

  15. Off to see Glos v Sussex later today (Thursday), most recent forecast looks OK, rain ending around lunchtime then mainly sunny, should be good for scheduled 6.30 pm start.  A win could see us through to a home tie depending on other results, one more to play after that (Hampshire away).
