  1. Vyner has been on the receiving end of some pretty bad abuse in the past, often the scapegoat. What he feels he owes us I don’t know. If there is an offer on the table and it’s as yet unsigned that may give an indication. Has there been any official word on that? Just a fear of mine. He oozes class and there’ll be a long line of suitors particularly if he is somehow improving even further. Of course, you could argue the club itself stuck by him and they did, but I remember being in away ends where he was quite viciously singled out during bad team performances. Online too. All love now, but that sort of thing tends to linger for the individual.

  2. Munich is a wonderful city. The club have a grand history and seem like fun to play for. Maybe he doesn’t give a shit about the Premier League goal record and simply wants to experience something different in his life (and career) before the chance has gone? Would be a refreshing move in my opinion.

  3. Surprised by some of the outcry I’ve seen to this. Can see exactly why Scott would prefer to play for Bournemouth. Or at the least what they can convincingly sell to him. Ambitious club on the up, new ownership, exciting manager wanting to play energetic front foot football, new stadium around the corner, big wages, and a strong chance of holding down a first team spot. I don’t think it’s a bad move if he is given game time, they may not have a big fan base but they can still offer a damn sight more than we can right now. That’s just the order of things, even if not historically.

Was more excited about the Currie signing, made more sense. Pring as first choice, Currie as cover. Not sure how JB fits in there.

It would probably signal to me that we are going to see quite a lot more movement than expected in terms of outgoings this summer

I don’t think we’ll be changing formations for one player, especially with the reasonable success we’ve had with this new formation.

IF Bryan signs he will compete with Pring for left back, or could even play further forward as left side of 3 up top. Pearson wants more players with good physical attributes (strong, quick, good stamina) that can fill numerous positions so Joe fits the bill.

I would hope he is being signed primarily to play further forward and to compete with Bell at LW.

Pring, Bryan and Bell. What a left side that would be, spanning an entire decade of academy talent.

  7. So I edit this magazine. Real labour of love. Positive comments well they’re music to ears. I think it’s important we look back In years to come and have reference points as a fan base, when you dig slightly deeper we are one of the most creative out there and I think it’s a shame that isn’t exploited more. There’s a lot of talented people that support Bristol City, I think that should be demonstrated. At the same time, i love the fact it’s all new to certain people/groups, it shouldn’t be a closed off thing. The magazine is on a great tracjectory, I’d love to see where it ends up. Up the City

Who are the next players coming through the academy and are any of them likely to be able to fill some sort of role in the squad?

Few expected Scott to have the prolonged impact he has had, Bell wasn't seen as ready to step up, for a while neither was Conway. Most of the 'tips' from the academy over the years have ended up in the builders leagues. In all likelihood the next starlet, and the one after that, will come largely out of nowhere. You've no idea if a player is ready until they get their chance!

The Motson situation is a most odd one and I really don’t understand it.
As far as I was aware, most clubs had a minutes applause for Motty at the games last weekend.
We were at home. If we were going to pay our respects to Motty, I don’t know why it wasn’t done on Saturday vs Hull.

Similarly, we didn’t have a minutes applause pre-match on Saturday for Colin Sexstone, a man who was our CEO for 10 years. All he got was a minor announcement before half the fans were even in their seats.

Then, we decide to respect Motty last night, when we could’ve done it Saturday, and still no respects paid to Sexstone and it gets completely ballsed up.
The players were all lined up and ready for the announcement. Where I was sat, everyone was rather confused - why did the beginning of the announcement take so long. Everyone was just standing there waiting for it to start. Then we were unsure if it had actually already started. Then Downsey started waffling on and the applause started and he just kept chatting for about another 40 seconds.
It was a total shambles, but I’m just more confused as to why we did it last night and not Saturday.
Of all the many many positives that have come out of last night, this situation is a total embarrassment.

God, you’ve just made me realise we’ve had two home games since Sextone passed and not a single meaningful tribute. That really is a disgrace

I did have a nasty thought last night, what with all the positive publicity around the impact Nige is having, that some cr@ppy struggling Prem outfit might try to tempt him away.   Hopefully his experience at Watford will put him off, but you can see why he must be of interest to bigger, struggling clubs.

Absolutely no chance he leaves. He loves living here, has bought land in the area, and isn't shallow enough to chase a bit of extra cash at this stage in his career. He comes across as someone who is really keen to see this job through.

As for contract talks, we've only just come through a patch that had us three points off the relegation zone. In terms of what could be read from JL's words, it sounded like he probably wants to make sure we continue making good progress on the pitch before offering an extension. And as he says - there's still a year and a half left and he's not going to discuss the matter on the radio before discussing it with NP.

What it showed tonight is that Kalas is an international centre back who happens to play in the Championship, as our most expensive ever transfer deal, while Zak is a Championship defender, who came through our academy and whose weaknesses, particularly in terms of distribution and ball control were exposed by one of the best teams on the planet. Fortunately he doesn’t often come up against such good opposition so it doesn’t matter so much.

That’s not to say he wouldn’t improve playing against this kind of opposition either. It’s a one off game and something he can learn from going forward. He is a much improved player who has only recently settled into himself here, but that’s not to say he can’t make further adaptions to his style of play going forward. Plus there are just things you can get away with in the Championship that you can’t against Manchester City and this is the first time he’s played against world class opposition to find that out.

There wasn’t a player for us out there that didn’t struggle with having less time to think at some point tonight. Vyner is nowhere near culpable for singled out criticism if that’s why this thread has been bumped

Thought they were pretty good all game tbh, yeah not the loudest but kept going. Liked their Fleetwood Mac chant, was quality with the oouuuhhh ooooouuuuuuuhhhhhhh tale end. Not very creative though!!!!

Thought we were fairly quiet for large parts of the game. Then again ManC's ticky tacky 70% possession almost sends you into a trance like state.

I’d agree with that, pretty mesmerising football to be seeing for the first/second time, a lot of the time hard to take your eyes off it and tear into a song!
