  1. Btw I'm all for developments, I live in a new development myself, however I feel supermarkets are best situated put of town, such as cribbs causeway, everything all in one place and not impacting on any residents. Building super markets in residential areas with poor access and infrastructure just isn't right imo. Chuck them next to ring roads motorways etc where their impact is minimal.
  2. Anyone remember the battle tesco faced to build at Golden Hill?? That was for a much smaller store and wasn't building over a war memorial, just 4 bloody lime trees. If people can be that protective over some trees then it would sadden me greatly if they are not prepared to do the same for a war memorial. The gates are not the memorial, the ground is a memorial. There is a sainsburys at Stoke Gifford, fairly decent size, is there really any need to build another just 5 minutes up the road?? In this area there is already a Tesco at golden Hill, just 2 mins away, maybe tesco are the mystery backers for trash, surprised they have been rather quiet about a huge store being built right on their patch and them having nothing to say about it. Then there is a co up a little further down the road plus a little sainsburys and morrisons. A little further there is a tesco extra at eastville, then there is various little tescos dotted around the area, plus Lidl bottom of monks park, waitrose in Henleaze, new asda next to where UWE stadium site. Then of course tesco at Bradley Stoke and Morrisons and Asda at Cribbs a bit further away. Plus all the independent stores dotted around everywhere so is there really a need to build a sainsburys on a war memorial?? I would say the area is pretty saturated when it comes to super markets so I think the JR has a decent chance of success. I don't think the council has given much thought to this so can see why there is to be a JR, That area is effectively already served by two tesco's and Sainsburys and Asda at Stoke Gifford. I guess BCC failed to take them into account considering they are in South glos. It would be interesting to see the planning docs for the existing Sainsburys to see what area they plan to serve. My guess the Horfield area would be in the area they serve. If anyone can find such a document it would be a gold nugget for trash.
  3. if we started work in January then I would expect the new stand to be open by the first game of the season in some form. The EE is a tin shed so wouldn't take long to be knocked down, however I do remember reading a while ago that the land under the EE is contaminated, if this is true I don't know bit could slow things down. I visited Wolves during their reconstruction and your right it's an impressive stand, has a huge club shop in it which gives it a unique wolves feel. You look at it and you know it's the Stan culis stand. It sort of reminds me of Old Trafford. Our plans will be nothing like Wolves unfortunately ours is being done one the cheap compared. The point I'm trying to get at is following their redevelopment they have suffered two relegations. Had they built a new stadium would they really have suffered the same fate?? The effect a new stadium can have shouldn't be underestimated, Southampton now back in the premiership doing well, Swansea went from the brink of non league to premiership, carling cup winners and now playing in Europe, Cardiff also in the premiership, Brighton now a solid Championship club, Rotherham got promoted etc, Man City have grown into a massive club and their new plans for the surrounding areas are amazing. What I'm trying to get at is a new stadium in most cases leads to a promotion, it gives the whole city a buzz, it gives the club momentum and brings in a air of positivity. A redevelopment simply does not do that. Tbh in our history we have mainly been crap, call me superstitious but maybe Ashton Gate is on some cursed land orsomething. A fresh start aat a new stadium is exactly what we need to push this club forward. Redevelop Ashton Gate and in 20 odd years were gonna need to do it all over again. I don't see the point really.
  4. Doesn't count if it's with their sister.
  5. I did mention that I believed work would start as soon as planning permission is obtained, DaveL stated no it wouldn't but it has always been pretty obvious. When season tickets went on sale there was a note at the bottom on the website that said as much. Not long after January the 1st I expect the EE to be pulled down. I hope for just one game before the old lady goes the club make the whole end available to only home fans.
  6. This is of course dependant on JET actually wanting to leave...
  7. At the Derby game someone near me was hit by a coin, had they not have been wearing glasses they would have been blinded no doubt. This was reported to the police, even the culprit was pointed out yet the copper just shrugged his shoulders so the victim feeling let down by our justice system took things into his own hands and returned the coin, what did the copper do this time? Oh yea arrest the victim. The policing that night was a shambles. There was no control. It was a free for all. The police failed to do their job so some of our fans took things I to their own hands.
  8. I got given a conditional discharge once at an away game, I was picked out of a crowd and arrested, why?? Simply because two coppers apparently heard me swearing in the street and at that exact same time a lady pushing a buggy was visibly distressed and had to cross the street. I was basically told by my brief, the two coppers would have been on overtime, by arresting me they would have got a nice afternoon at the station filling out paperwork instead of doing some work. Easy money. I was screwed as it was two coppers word against my own. I now got a conviction that has affected me in life simply for attending a football game.
  9. Over a year ago I was attending a match at Ashton Gate, Just after half time I was returning to my seat and approached by about 5 coppers, I was arrested on suspicion of assault and handcuffed and taken tothe cells inI the ground. After about an hour I was released on bail, no charges were ever brought against me. What had happened was someone who I know from the past saw me at half time briefly, that person then found the nearest copper and made an allegation of assault against me. The police then reviewed the CCTV and found I had not assaulted this person, in fact it showed I did not go within 20 meters of that person. Great I thought my name had been cleared. Wrong I was! A few days later I received a letter in the post from Bristol City informing me I was banned for 6 months following my arrest. The letter said I had no right of appeal and any attempt to enter Ashton Gate during this period would result in a life time ban (even on non match days) following this period I then had to sign a behaviour contract with the club. All because someone had alleged I had assaulted them. I never knew you could be found innocent by clear evidence (the cctv saw me walk to and from my seat) yet still be punished, I missed over half a season with a season ticket I already paid for and still on a probationary term now. Yet the accuser didn't get done for wasting police time or anything. That's justice for you. What would your take on this be Nibor?? Should I have been banned for life simply because I was accused of something that I didn't do?
  10. Unluckily for me my first season following City ended in relegation from division one to division two (championship - league one) however I still became hooked. What I remember of it is again we had to rebuild in the summer as half the players left but we was left with some hangers on. Pulis was the wrong appointment. Screwed this club right over and gave long contracts to crocked or past it players. I'm not lying when I say everyone danced around the stands when he left us and we got compo for him too!! Our last relegation was horrible, years and years of dull boring football getting beat by teams like Brentford, Gillingham, Colchester etc. Crowds of 8-9 thousand at home. Back then at least it was made interesting by the derbies with Rovers or the games against Cardiff or Swansea. Just thinking back through my memories of league one teams like Wigan, Cardiff, Swansea etc all overtaken us and moved on to the prem whilst we return to league one. Very sad. League one wasn't enjoyable one little bit and we only got close to getting out of it twice. Returning to them days are gonna be hard. The club does seem to be in a better position this time around, academy, training ground and hopefully SOD is the man to rebuild us but I hope he gets it right otherwise were looking at years more of dark days. But I guess this roller coaster ride is exactly why we all love bristol City and what always keeps us coming back for me.
