Absolute war here between Davies and La Femina.

Evening Stortz..
Can't see Usyk winning but hay, I've been wrong before.
Great card on BT/TNT tonight.....
Evening mate, we shall see eh!
It is a good card- shame we'll have to listen to those Stoke gets singing their dirge later though!

Calling it now, Usyk SD. Bookmark this post!
Usyk will beat Fury on 17/02/24, and in any subsequent rematch.

Wallin has only ever fought one decent fighter and Parker is second rate. Doubt this will create much interest.
Disagree mate, this card will do serious numbers, even with only 5 weeks of build up.
Wallin and Parker are decent enough fighters to marinate a Joshua Wilder fight next year.
Wallin's style is all wrong for AJ imo, especially as he's apparently got Boxercise Ben in his corner for this one rather than Derrick James. Madness.
And how could you not want to see the return of the human pharmacy when Dubois fights Big Baby?!

Loads of big announcements in the next couple of days.
Deontay Wilder is in London for the presser for this card tomorrow:
Interested to see who gets the broadcast in the UK- I thought Riyadh Season was exclusive to Queensbury and TNT, but I'm not sure DAZN would want Joshua on there given their contract. Could be a joint one I guess. It's certainly an unexpected Christmas bonus.
Fury Usyk apparently announced the day after too for 17/02/24.
edit- just saw Dan Rafael's tweet of the invite to the the conference tomorrow- 23/12 is a Queensbury show. DAZN are really rolling the dice with AJ, what if Wallin beats him?
Also, Bivol is fighting Lyndon Arthur now, not Rivera.

Sounds like another dodgy decision, and I'm not talking about the red card.
Evening Owl, hope you're well.
Were you in BS3 today? Hope you enjoyed your visit other then the result if so!

There’s a certain irony to this being posted on OTIB just now!!
Hi Dave, I'm sure Gavin is excellent in his field- and that's why he should stay in it, imo.
I do see your general point though!

Who the **** is this gonk to pontificate about football matters?
Matey can create a pivot table and thinks he knows more about the game than Pearson ffs.

Couldn’t be that Fury took Ngannou lightly, along with plenty of others?
That's exactly what happened. Fury didn't look like he'd trained for the fight at all. Billy Joe Saunders says Tyson's too surrounded by yes men, and that certainly appears to be the case as he pisses away any legacy.
Fair play to Ngannou, he was as basic as you'd expect and gassed hugely, but stuck to the task.

At least you know what you are getting with the YouTubers. Can you explain what tonight was supposed to be?
An exhibition match under boxing rules that lots of people let TNT and Queensbury convince them was of any importance whatsoever.

Haha, Linares trying to boss the foot game!

So the real answer for any long term progress is to sort out the board level of the club, not just put an increasingly tired and ****** off Nigel Pearson on a new contract.
That's all I'm saying, Pearson alone is not the silver bullet for our problems.
If people are suggesting a short extension of Pearson to allow the board level tidy up to occur then fine, but I've no confidence in Lansdown to do that.
Thus it matters not if it's Pearson or another in the dugout, the course is already set regardless of who is at the helm.
No, but look at the difference to our club when an experienced manager actually stands up to the interference from above rather than tickling their balls like Johnson, Ashton and Holden.

Great learning fight for McGrail here, Mendoza is no mug.

Surely Tinnion wants Nige to stay too, he must know full well how the fans feel, and he can see how the club has been dragged back to a competitive level on a shoestring after years of shite.
If the Lansdowns let Pearson walk, I don't think they'll ever be forgiven.

If boxing was in a good way this wouldn't have been allowed to get as popular as it has. Some of the blame must be directed towards the other circus in town which is the current Heavyweight champion. He's been encouraged to make an absolute mockery of a serious sport unchallenged by the boards of control.
I just don't agree with this. It's like blaming FIFA for Soccer Aid being crap.
Very few real boxing fans watch influencer boxing, because it's absolute shit. Very few influencer boxing fans watch real boxing, because it doesn't have the characters they are interested in watching 'fighting'. They cater for entirely different audiences.
'Boxing' cannot decree that all influencer boxing is forbidden, the same way as the 'football' can't stop a load of useless muppets kicking a ball around a park because they're playing so awfully.
There are an awful lot of legitimate things you can criticise the sport for, but the fact it's been embraced as a money spinner by a bunch of YouTube arseholes isn't one of them imo.

Not sure why people are saying last night reflects badly on boxing as a sport. It was literally unlicensed other than by a body the promoters made up to make it look semi legitimate.
No credible board of control would touch it with barge pole, so I would argue that pro boxing has in fact turned its back on this shite to preserve (what's left of!) its integrity despite the temptingly vast sums of money involved.
As @petehinton said, by the sounds of it everyone who paid for that got exactly the spectacle they deserved!

As long as you don't class it as proper boxing then don't have a problem.
Buatsi v Azeez next weekend I'd the proper stuff.
Caterall v Linares on DAZN too.

It is, but you can’t deny the numbers they bring in. It’s absolutely insane. This will probably be the biggest boxing PPV event of the year, by a distance potentially too
Yeah it's a good money spinner alright, but the standard of the fights is far below the quality you'd find outside a kebab shop on a Saturday night.
It's boxing for people that have no interest in boxing.

Not wishing to be overly critical of HGT, but all that says is that the person posting it doesn't want to be overly bothered by people calling out the behaviour of Joey and that they've got a lot of other things going on.
Which is fair enough - you can't expect one person to be the answer to everything.
But.... You would expect them to add to their message that 'we're deeply concerned with the statement Barton put out and have contacted the club for further comment and/or asked the club to clarify their view on things, even if they don't reflect the views of Joey'.
Just reads a bit like, 'we started a group, it's expanded and is going well, but having started it and engaged with a number of other clubs, you can't expect us to actually follow up on things'.
Hopefully they'll get some sort of answers and they'll be able to celebrate that they've spoken to the club who in turn have spoken to the manager and everything calms down again.
There is an opportunity for HGT to earn some easy capital from this, but it doesn't look as if they're able to take advantage of it.
But, as I say, I wish the organisation success, it probably doesn't help that they're supporters of a club with a less than perfect record in this area (which, for balance, neither are we after employing Simpson).
Nothing but respect for what HGT are doing, but if you're prepared to take the fanfare when you're winning campaign awards ceremonies, you can expect a bit of criticism when the club you support take a giant shit over the values that you're (quite rightly) trying to advocate for and the same campaign says nothing.

Felt it was Conlan again, took a load to get in the trenches.
Yeah, Wood stays so calm and measured, no matter where he is in the fight he's still able to pick devastating punches.
I thought it'd be the uppercut all night the way Warrington was rushing in with his head down, but I'll take whatever haha.
