Your wife has a very valid point.

I think she does. It was a terrible non-atmosphere today. I ordinarily wake up at 2am each week to be disappointed by City, so can understand the frustration… but if you’re paying cash to be in the ground, surely you’d give it your all.

I was sat next to a guy today who moaned from kick-off to final whistle, slagging every player off and comparing everything to Spurs and how much better they were. I appreciate different opinions but don’t understand why you’d pay a decent chunk of money to do that.

Lucky you. Brazilian women are the most beautiful in the world in my eyes and living in Portugal I've been lucky enough to date a few, can't get one to marry me yet though. This could have something to do with them being half my age I suppose

Get yourself to Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Portuguese is pretty much the native language.

  3. Times have changed. I remember back in the early 90s when a 7’ish year old boy behind the goal would shout “**** off copper” every time a police officer walked past. Always got a laugh and a cheer from those around him, including his dad. I think it was more to do with a tiny, squeaky, voice saying it rather than the actual intent.

    try some judo

In a thread about a very good interview, you’ve just given me flashbacks to LJ claiming he made Massengo by getting him to do Judo (like he did).

Regardless of what people think of Nige’s attitude towards the press, they have to admit it’s a whole lot better than Lee’s.

why dont we have some players who can stand up to birmingham away?

You can’t just buy a certain type of player, drop them into the team and expect success. You need to move the squad as a whole over time. To use a clumsy analogy, it’s like getting a cricket ball to swing.  It doesn’t happen straight away, you’ve got to put the work it and shape it.

The next question is: do we really want to be playing a big, physical style of football?

Any chance of copy pasting this for those of us who don’t subscribe to the paper please

If you hit a paywall that you don’t want to pay for, use 12ft Ladder:

    http://12ft.io

Almost every page that’s behind a paywall has a hidden version that isn’t. It’s so Google can still find it. 12ft Ladder pulls up the hidden version that isn’t behind the paywall.

  7. Over Christmas and New Year, I’ll be back home for the first time in years. I haven’t been to a game since 2013 and want to go see WBA on Boxing Day at least. I also want to take my wife and 5 year old boy as well.

My wife is Brazilian and thinks the atmosphere at Ashton Gate (and football) isn’t going to be as exciting as at a Corinthians game. My five year old genuinely believes Bristol City is the best team in the world… but has the attention span of a five year old.

Has anyone got any advice for match day activities that would entertain both and, as I haven’t been to Ashton Gate since the redevelopment, where to sit.

Is the Silver Heineken Hospitality Package worth it?

  8. Smart move by Scotland. I can imagine them trying to lock him in with some first team minutes if he continues how he’s started this season.

In regards to the song suggestions earlier in the thread, surely there’s a Frank Sinatra “My Way” song that ends with “He’s Tommy Con-way!!!”

The new shirt is also 100& recyclable and made from recycled plastic bottles

I'm definitely in support of green initiatives and positive environmental action - and see this as a step in the right direction -  but a shirt from 100% recycled plastic bottles is still one of the biggest contributors to plastics entering the ecosystem. The majority of microplastics in the ocean come from the washing and laundry of synthetic fibre clothing, so all this really does is shift the problem from the ocean being filled with plastic to the ocean being filled with recycled plastic.

The real issue is that global plastic production has doubled between 2000 and 2019 and is continuing to increase at the same rate - although I don't really blame Reading's home kit for this.

  10. I’m a fan of the new Patrick Thistle kit. Brown tartan shorts, with the face of their club mascot, Kingsley, on the top.

It’s worth noting that the angry, jagged Kingsley was designed to represent the pain and frustration of supporting Patrick Thistle.

  11. Lots of similar stories from my school days but perhaps the craziest one was when a kid in my brother’s year told a teacher to f!@k off. The teacher got him round the neck and proceeded to slam his head repeatedly with the changing room door - like Vinnie Jones with the car door in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Nothing happened to the teacher and he kept his job there for many years after.

  12. My 4 year old’s kit arrived this morning. He didn’t like the home kit as it “looks like a singlet”. He instead opted for the purple training top with the purple goalkeeper shorts and socks. I’ve got to say it looks great and the details are very nice.

I also bought myself an Ashton Gate co-ordinates t-shirt and the print quality is terrible. The ink is thin, the lettering is slightly deformed and the small badge is smudged as well. It looks like a market knock-off. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m asking as I want to send it back to my brother to exchange it but if they’re all bad, I’ll just send it back for a refund. That said, the postage here and back again is more than the cost of the shirt.

    Really?

Yes. Both things are true. He had one bigger arm to begin with but the difference was made much more significant by only ever training that one arm.

He did this to keep his total weight down as arm wrestlers compete in weight divisions.

  14. To see a game it was sometime in 2013 for me. SOD was in charge. I can’t actually remember who we were playing but I was fearing the worst given all the despair on here at the time. I didn’t think it was that bad, or I could at least see what we were trying to do. We drew due to a shocking attempt at a back pass by Flint that put them through on goal.

Other than that, it was a trip to the club shop in 2018. That was a lot more depressing than watching City failing in League One.
