  1. I have plenty of friends who are City (although obviously I could never count them as close mates :)) The thing is I think only real football fans get the rivalry thing. I have mellowed in my old age and don't stress so much over how City are doing but I absolutely still want them to lose every single game. It's not a jealousy thing, I don't wish I was a red or anything like that it just seems that part of loving Rovers is disliking City to me, that isn't something that was drummed into me as a kid , my dad wasn't interested in football and any of his family who were, were all Celtic, and on my mum's side they were mostly Millwall/Palace etc. The one thing that does annoy me about Bristol rivalry is at times like now, when City are flying, you get people who have previously shown no interest, start having a pop at me (this has happened a few times over the years) for not supporting Bristol football when in actual fact I do support Bristol football and have done for 40 odd years spending my money on a relatively unsuccessful football club while they have gone shopping on a Saturday but they suddenly think football is great because a team from their home town beat Manchester United!
  2. This thread probably isn't for you then
  3. Well that's why we are where we are , and you are where... oh hang on.
  4. Isn't it obvious? You play Preston in March, which - if all goes to plan- will be about the time the heels have come right off at your place, Billy scores a hat trick, you drop out of the top 6 to be replaced by Preston. We know what we're doing you know
  5. Fraid not, but don't let the truth ruin a good story Our PA system is dire, and sometimes when the mike isn't turned off you can hear people clapping (although obviously the clapping thing doesn't happen often at the moment)
  6. Well it worked well enough for City in the past I think it's clear there are some problems at Rovers, however, someone saying on the internet 'It's definitely true, honest!' doesn't convince me of anything.
  7. Undoubtedly the other night was special for you, but it's all relative isn't it.
  8. I haven't, but if we do beat you anytime in my lifetime, you can pay for me to have one done commemorating the event
  9. What makes you think I haven't got one already
  10. Not really, I just enjoy winning local derbies- it's fun
  11. The thing is you can't knock what City are doing at the moment but that doesn't stop me from wanting it to stop! Currently we are light years apart and that doesn't look like changing any time soon, but things do change and in football it can happen quite quickly. A year ago Lansdown and Johnson in particular were getting some horrific stick and the prospect of us facing each other again in league competition looked odds on, a year on and it looks as far away as ever. I'm 53 next week, and at the moment, I'd take just beating you once more in my lifetime.
  12. Well I would, but then I'm dead classy Anyway, congratulations on your win, all the best in the semis. Only joking, hope you get battered:)
  13. I was on my Xmas do last night, so I expect the rest were as well
  14. All joking aside I would have thought if any club did a book like this most fans of that club would enjoy it. Everyone has a favourite away day and memories like that are the ones that you will take to the grave.
  15. Well I was going to wait for 3 wins in a row but I really have been missing you all and didn't want to miss out on any Xmas presents you may be sending me (Any single malt will be fine btw)
  16. Funnily enough, I used to really rate him, not so much these days though
  17. Don't worry, once we have our new stadium/modified stadium/bigger tents I will be back, then you will al be sorry you took the piss How are things going south of the river btw, is LJ a little more popular these days?
  18. I must be getting more sensible, because I never stopped using them (Nectar point whore that I am)
  19. I wasn't joking about never letting Hireite vans out in Traffic and I know plenty of Rovers fans who stopped drinking Blackthorn after they sponsored you. I like to think I'm a little bit more sensible these days!
  20. My mistake, I thought Ron just ceased trading and ran with the other company of his Universal Components who were on the away shirts.
  21. I never used to let their vans out in traffic!
