  1. I agree entirely. Apart from the first line and the red bit in the last line.
  2. No, he was shite at that as well- he got caught!
  3. I can't really remember why I chose it, I wish I hadn't really , because I always struggle to remember how to spell Dennehy when I log in! As a teenager I remember thinking he was the worst Rovers player I ever saw, little did I know a few short years later Andy Spring would join us, and the subject of 'worst ever player' debates between Rovers fans was forever reduced to a shortlist of one.
  4. I think I will manage to get over it. There, I'm over it.
  5. No, my personal 'Gas logic' was in response to this below. City got the family award this year, Rovers didn't, but neither decision had **** all to do with Rovers or City ahem 'boys'. FWIW I suspect the family award is some sort of box ticking bollocks anyway
  6. Maybe we should have tried this- it obviously worked in your favour.
  7. Again, I think you are confusing ALL fans of one club with SOME fans of one club. Some people talk shite- that's just a fact of life- which team they support has nothing to do with it.
  8. I don't actually know for sure, although apparently we did pay money for Nathan Blissett ,anywhere between £50K and £100K, depending on which rumour you believe. Nathan seemed a lovely bloke, but I think it's fair to say we didn't get our moneys worth. I hope the new owner doesn't force 'big 'signings on our manager, Clarke has done a very good job without the need for that so far. Equally, I also hope our manager doesn't start splashing the cash 'just because he can'. I think Matty Taylor will leave on a freebie in the summer, so my guess is that we will find out very soon what the gameplan is. So, how much do you want for this Kodjia bloke ?
  9. That's the bloke! I knew it was Dave something. I remember watching the press conference on TV and thinking what a load of old bollocks. The word of anyone making rash promises like that should be taken with a very large pinch of salt. I'm pretty happy with our new owners so far, the bloke seems a decent sort, and certainly hasn't made any promises. I think the real test for us will be if we begin to struggle next season some halfwits (and trust me we ALL have them) will be demanding to know why we aren't signing Jamie Vardy instead of a Burton Albion reserve.
  10. Okay, let's pretend for a second Cole is a Rovers fan (he really isn't honestly), a quick count up suggests there are 17 different posters on that thread (excluding Cole) and of that 17 no one actually agrees with his assumption (and it's not even really an assumption- he just suggests we 'could' be in Leicester's shoes in 10 years time). In the same vein I am sure there were some City fans who lapped it up when your board of a decade or so back (maybe even longer) promised a major trophy, European football etc within a certain timeframe, and equally there were far more sensible City fans who could see the empty promises for what they were.
  11. Hark at Oscar Wilde! Cole- (the OP on the Rovers forum) is a City fan, he has been caught out a few times before. Still, as long as it keeps him out of trouble at school there's no real harm done.
  12. True, but when you consider the thread was started by a City fan pretending to be a Rovers fan suggesting we could be 'the next Leicester', and then that the HUGE majority of posts after that ( from real Rovers fans) tell the OP not to be so silly, then it kind of turns the whole thing on it's head! Still, the media never let the truth get in the way of a good headline, so why should football forums be any different
  13. That's twice you've posted on this thread now -just sayin
  14. Congratulations to Fishponds Fishing Tackle.
  15. Okay- you may have just snuck one of those names past me
  16. Electric Center will be just fine thank you You can knock our shirt sponsor draw all you want, it's a great way to give a chance to local businesses involved, and probably raises more money than we would attract as a 4th division team.
  17. I'm afraid sick chants are not exclusive to any one particular set of supporters. I remember the Aberfan chant well, and even joined in with it on occasion, until I found out what it was all about .I was born in 1964 and have nor had any recollection the disater so blindly joined in with mates, who also joined in, in fact it was one of my mates mothers who put us right, when she heard about the vile chant. I believe United and Liverpool supporters still taunt each other with sick chants, and probably will for years to come. It wasn't all that long ago City fans mocked the death of Micky Barratt, and Rovers fans did the same about your chairman (apologies, but his name escapes me at the moment) I do think things are changing for the better, and I know I can post the following without any worry or fear of malicious comments. On Saturday before our game against Crawley I had my normal pre match pint(s) in the Civil Service club, surrounded by friends who I see at every home game. One of them was John, normally there with his son Paul, both good friends of mine through AEK Boco & Rovers. He explained that Paul was on a charity bike ride, and would be joining us later. Sadly, tragically, Paul collapsed and died on the ride, he was just 42 years old. John is broken hearted, as are the mother, brothers and children he left behind. Paul was one of the good guys, upbeat, always positive and Rovers through & through. Pre match pints at Rovers, and watching kids matches at Boco will never be quite the same again, but I suppose the best we can ever hope for, is that we make a positive contribution during our short time on earth, and Paul certainly did that.
  18. Yes , good shout. I just think football forums- which are only supposed to be a bit of fun after all- can be a bit lame when everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. Good luck for the rest of the season (obviously that last bit is a lie)
  19. Bollocks. As I aid previously, there is a thread on here lauding a Radio Bristol presenter for slipping a 'Mind the gap' reference in. Any**** that gets remotely upset at trivial comments over football is a bit of a *****. Some Rovers fans are *****s, some City fans are *****s , and some say 'amusing' things, that aren't really all that amusing.
  20. I think Clarke's comments were - at best- ill advised. Odd how there is one thread lauding a local radio presenter for a 'mind the gap' comment, yet others get a little precious when a joke is made about non existent displays on an electronic scoreboard! I do despair of football fans at times, some really do need to grow a pair.
  21. I didn't hear the comment, but I can assure you when Keith said it, it would have been said flippantly and you are reading far too much into what he said. He may even have meant the comment to be heard by his wife, who is an avid a City fan as Keith is a Rovers one.
  22. It must be at the very least 2 years since City scores were shown on the scoreboard , and Keith Brookman is the matchday programme editor not the stadium manager. Still, lets not let the facts ruin it
