  1. Some good possession & decent footy from us. Just had good shot saved
  2. 1-1 oh dear. We had a good chance for a second - R’ham go to other end & we don’t defend cross terrible defending
  3. Mine arrived today…. Thankfully I’m really looking forward to the Rotherham match. It’s a 5.30 am set off from Hereford to meet my nephew & family in Sheffield - then onto Rotherham. 3 points for us followed by England beating France would be the ideal weekend
  4. I bought 5 tickets over a week ago, they were supposed to have been posted to me…. but no sign of them yet. doh !
  5. If Williams hadn’t slipped, he would have passed to Semenyo who would have had a virtual tap in for an equaliser
  6. A win is important as a decent cup run would help with our precarious finances. Potentially a cup run could help us afford that new centre back that Pearson has been after.
  7. I would be appalled at the two Glasgow clubs being allowed into the Premiership. It would make it even more difficult for the likes of Bristol City to make it to the top tier. Perhaps more importantly the two Glasgow clubs playing in England would exponentially increase issues of disorder & crowd control. Fans from both clubs perpetuate sectarian hatred with their vile songs and lack of mutual respect. There’s nothing wrong with local rivalry, but the sectarian hatred is not something we want within the top English league. I remind myself that Berwick is in England but plays in the Scottish league - curiously their fans were banned from displaying English flags at away matches. it is appreciated that there’s rivalry between English & Welsh clubs and people - but generally it’s little more than that. Both societally and in football terms, it would be a retrograde step to allow the Glasgow clubs into English football.
  8. I share views of those who thought we might have changed our wing backs. However with all the other changes (especially O’Leary & Klose in the starting line up) I guess it would have been a case of too many changes if Pring and/or Tanner started.
  9. In place of Williams who will need to be rested to ensure he’s fully fit for Wigan on Saturday.
  10. Pearson with arm around Massengo talking to him. Odds on he will start
  11. Earlier this week I asked the club a similar question about a parking season ticket at Long Ashton School. I was told it should be sorted soon. It seems contract prices etc have yet to be finalised. last season my car was one whereby I’d have had to pay a parking zone charge, when it’s introduced- that was one of the reasons for changing my car (along with my old car being clapped out). Those of us who don’t regularly live in Bristol will need to be aware of the forthcoming charges, with accessibility by car being so difficult (and expensive). It’s a pity the park & ride on the Portway isn’t utilised to have a shuttle bus service to and from the ground.
  12. I’ve been away and have got home too late to watch today’s match. On Monday I rang the ticket office to ask how one was able to watch as a season card holder. I was told that the system would recognise my email address. presumably codes were allocated for non season card holders who paid the relevant fee. Is that correct?
  13. ? I was 7 years old when we beat Chichester, it was 61 (or so) years ago. I was seven years out of the womb ?
  14. 5 November 1960, 1st round of the FA Cup. Bristol City 11 (yes eleven) Chichester 0 John Atyeo scored 5 goals If my maths are up to scratch, this makes me 61 years old.
  15. Sean Dyche was a very good centre back, albeit not for us. He played his debut whilst still not fully recovered from an injury & City fans got on his back. morale is an important feature of football players. If we had got behind him & not got on his back, he would have done far better. liam Fontaine is another centre back who lost form & confidence (it started after he nearly went to Southampton on a large fee but had an injury so it was called off). A fine player for us in his prime but with fans lacking in support he lost confidence. it’s often said that fans who pay to watch are entitled to cheer or boo as they feel appropriate- but we can be cruel sometimes, occasionally affecting players in the long term. Dyche was excellent be for he came to us - he was excellent after he left. His time here wasn’t a success, but was in part due to us supporters.
  16. Last season we were (most of us anyway) saying that if the season had lasted a few weeks longer we’d have been relegated. Most on this forum said success for this year would be avoiding relegation and blooding some of the youngsters - which is what has happened (with something to spare). Pearson’s post match comments were wholly accurate, we don’t have the personalities to provide leadership on the pitch. commenting that maybe we wouldn’t spend in the summer was also accurate, a result of FFP rules might require us to sell to avoid a points penalty. A sale might enable Pearson to spend. Whilst the debate is both healthy and interesting, I’d be very disappointed if Nigel Pearson left for whatever reason. He needs 2 to 3 years to turn the club around. My view is that he’s the ideal man for the job.
  17. I’d be both surprised and disappointed if he wasn’t offered a contract.
  18. Slight tangent but after once winning the Welsh Cup, our winning the Anglo Scottish cup arguably made us the only true champions of Great Britain. ?
  19. I’ve bought tickets for Tuesday’s match against Barnsley. When I asked how many were sold, I was told it was a very small number. Hopefully this will add to our away support on Tuesday. I wasn’t at today’s match but sooo hope we can win on Tuesday. Today has been surreal: the game changed by a last minute goal - incredibly from us - and - a clean sheet for the first time in ages wow!
