  1. It’s about perspective and balance. Did we lose 5 nil to Wigan? No, it was a team who will be in the premiership next season. Did we compete throughout? In my view, yes we did. It was a game of few chances for both teams, but the team with that bit more quality edged it. If I focus on the season and how we have evolved rather than Tuesdays performance I see the following 1. A “team” and style of play which has been missing for 4 seasons 2. A recruitment strategy and a more financial sustainable approach to the playing squad 3. A clearer pathway for the academy to integrate into the 1st team In business terms this is transformation and would be multi year to achieve. But…..this is football and we expect results every Saturday, regardless of who we are playing against and that’s my gripe with the moany old gits and the lack perspective and understanding.
  2. Wow what a disappointing listen. @Curr Avonwhat were you expecting? 2nd in the table Sheffield United scrape home and were jeered off at half time. Agree we didn’t create many chances but may be watch the game again and look how we play as a team, retain the ball, defend and also watch how SU defend. Ian already talking about sacking NP after 10 games next season. He is clueless. Your collective performance was worse than City’s away at Birmingham this season. Think you need to get back on the training field lads. Your performance this week is not good enough. Marks out of 10 are below Dave 3 - Started the show badly, thought we had lost 5 nil based on opening comments.Let Ian run riot without any control. Ian 2 - lots of shouting, pointing of fingers, no end product. Another Teflon performance Mark 5 - applied some balance to a disjointed performance but got sucked into Ian’s game. Bring back Neil and @Davefevsfor real analysis not emotional outbursts.
  3. Think Pearson has done a cracking job. Cleared out a lot of known issues and uncovered a number of unknown issues. Regardless of who is manager/head coach, it will be a very tough ask to break into the top 10 next season given the teams coming down and what’s left in the division. We will need to recruit hungry young/lower league players who have future personal growth and then have the coaching team to make them top end championship standard. Tanner/Atkinson have both taken time to adjust and Wilson remains unproven. I think NP is the right figure head to drive this forward and has the resilience to withstand fan/media onslaught when things don’t go to plan. I think NP realises that the coaching needs strengthening and hence why we’ve seen Euell arrive this season and King joining the ranks next.

Levels have improved since Xmas. Last few games he’s been fab. Technically brilliant and gifted, I have no idea of his wages but probably in the top 3 or 4 at City. The question I ask myself is Jay one of our top 3 or 4 players week in week out? Sometimes he is but not been consistent enough for me. We are in a different financial situation now and although JD is not a luxury player, Pring plus another could be a better option imo
  5. Since pre Christmas we have been slowly improving. Unfortunately we are not a microwave meal, it will take time to improve and on a consistent basis. Always disappointing to lose a two goal lead. Lots of positives though, Cornick very good this evening but clearly not match fit still. We had a patched up team that gave everything. Thought tonight was a good advert for Championship football.
  6. Personally thought we played some decent football today. Reading are a poor team and we’re very one dimensional. Not a surprise the way we conceded. Conway was excellent and thought Weimann was at his best when he was on the pitch. Come the final whistle felt like a loss given the performance. Yes, we lack some quality in the final 3rd but much prefer this team/squad under NP Vs the bloated over paid squad from earlier this season and the last two seasons.
  7. Agree on the cultural change, we’ve made good strides on that front. Difficult to know where we are as a squad with so many injuries but I think 3-5 exits and may be the same incoming. Think the club has a direction again, just need to stick to it.
  8. I think a few people have mentioned this before but Luton have recruited to a plan. We collected players under LJ/Ashton and the fall out is now quite clear. Our approach has had implications on and off the pitch.
  9. Ian Gay declared that we need 53 points. You must be wrong
  10. Not for the want of trying. XG last night higher than our average this season. Unfortunate that none of the ‘big’ chances fell to Wells. If we weren’t creating chances I would be more concerned
  11. It’s a good shout. Webster and Kalas very good together. But…..not sure Kalas will be that player again
  12. The City dugout at the end of the game said a lot about the club and NPs influence. Hugs and even kisses going on.
  13. May be a controversial opinion but Atkinson is more rounded than TK. Love Kalas defending ability, but to be competitive we will need a ball playing CB.
  14. @DavefevsIan has stated a number of times it’s an average league and anyone can beat anyone. I don’t disagree with this point but I think Ian lost sight of the reality of the table and results beyond Bristol City. Took his eye off the ball
  15. Ian Gay is currently considering which side of the fence he should sit on Ian has spoken to his contacts at Ashton Gate and confirmed Pearson will not lose his job this weekend #intheknow
  16. I agree that it would be a financial disaster if the club ended in league1. If a change is made it does need to be clearly thought through and fan base would need to understand there is no Sean Dyche/Steven Gerrard coming over the hill on a stallion to save the day. If we do make a change I anticipate it will be more of a coach and probably a low key/unknown. I’m sure our fan base will be accepting of the decision and understand that the new coach/manager will be working with the same personnel and no fans will throw their toys out the pram when we concede from a cross in their first game.
  17. Was always going to be a tough listen given the result. A few points for future discussion and they are deeper questions and move away from the emotion of results but delve into the ‘why’ of where we are Lack of top flight football - why? It’s not for the want of trying or even money, given what Ashton/LJ spent on players. 14 years since we finished in the top 6 and never got close since. Are we a serial underperformer or is this our level? Being Bristol City - NP has referenced more than once we are ‘nice’ club. I’ve always got the impression we are perceived as a nice club/sleeping giant. This is a stigma that is difficult to shake and I’m sure when Sheffield United and Bristol City showed interest in Reda Khadra in the summer, Brighton and the player both thought Sheffield United were the better option based on pedigree and potential player growth. That isn’t the first time that has happened and won’t be the last and implications mean we are probably 2/3rd choice. How do you shift this perception? Mark Ashton to finally leave the club in 2026 - we’ll finally see the back of Ashton when the £38m and £28m losses roll off in 4 years time. Given that money talks in this game and we are probably very close to FFP, how do we compete in this league with free transfers? Its easy to get fixated on the Tuesday/Saturday result and why NP signed Sykes/King etc. In my mind they are consequences/implications of the above.
  18. Think it was a good opportunity for the likes of Atkinson to get a competitive game under his belt. He looked like a man who had just recovered from flu. I actually thought Martin did ok 1st half but his passing radar went missing in the 2nd half. He is an easy scape goat though. We did learn that Bajic clearly isn’t ready and I mentioned elsewhere is not your normal 6 foot 4 keeper we need. If he is DBs replacement then we have a problem
  19. Due to the CB injury crisis he’s had an opportunity, but I’m sure NP said a month ago he was a long way off making the squad (think it was after he scored the winner for the u21s). Sykes gave him no cover and there was a massive gap between Klose and most of the time he was caught in no man’s land. Any confidence he had evaporated after his individual error.
  20. I don’t think Sykes gave Low much defensive cover in the 1st half and was exposed pace wise before their 2nd goal which was a confidence destroyer for the lad. Agree on Martin in first half and thought AW looked much sharper. Bajic doesn’t strike me as someone who has the build/physique for the championship. Early days for him
  21. Wish I could be that balanced after a 2 nil home loss. Very good VLOG
  22. 1st goal was a strange one. Max saved us a goal but cost us a goal. Great save but poor technique, rather than palming the ball away from goal, I think it hits the base of hand and rather go away from goal goes back to the centre of goal. I’m being picky on this.
  23. Unlike Birmingham I don’t think we were bullied today. Millwall set out to contain us and did a good job. We didn’t move the ball quick enough throughout and it allowed Millwall to maintain decent shape. After our equaliser we weren’t patient enough and our movement was poor. Pring and Weimann were really high and wide but we struggled to get Scott on the ball and Martin didn’t drag Cooper round like I hoped he would. I think our lack of patience cost us a point. Very different performance than the Brum game. Without a doubt Pearson picks the team and sets us up but once again a number of players were off the pace.
