I never have had a BMW & never plan too... but if I ever did, I'd have to get the badge ceramically changed to at least Red & White (I've seen a few other people do something along the lines of that)

However - my first aim is to never be enough of an ignorant tosser to justify being behind the wheel of a BMW...!

    Buy one of these then.

    The Bristol 403

  2. Remember him well in the early 50s, he could certainly kick a ball and often took the penalties.

He once tried distracting the opposing goalkeeper by walking to the spot and bent down to give the white area a good dusting!

Whilst working for Gardiners, Broad Plain, I had to go to Packers chocolate factory at Greenbank to measure up for some new windows, and met him in the stores area, where they kept the walnuts for topping chocolate whirls. This was the early 60s after finishing playing.

The 50s team were often on Weston S Mare beach training and saw him there also.

The oldest City artefact I have seen is a collection of season tickets from the late 1890s issued to a Mr. W. Shambrook. Don't know if that surname means anything to anyone?

Your W Shambrook could be William Shambrook, born 24 Jan 1870 Clapton, to Stone worker, Samuel and Jane Shambrook who came from the Peter Tavy area of Devon and lived 1881 at 7 Melbourne Tce, Bedminster . He married Sarah Ann Bidgood in 1900 and lived at 27 Cotswold Rd, Bedminster [Windmill Hill?].

He was a Chocolate Moulder in 1939 and died 1964

  4. In my opinion he is a route one player and is not aware of other players. Take yesterday when thinking about other players he made the pass which resulted in the own goal for us.  If he thinks more periphally, we will get the goals, but if wishes to blast every shot then we will not get the results!

He is keen but a bit touchy when things dont go his way, needs to think a lot more.

    Why?

Likewise, living in N Cornwall the A38 Bodmin to Saltash is a deathtrap with much in 3 lanes! Then we have to pay a toll to cross the Tamar, by bridge or ferry and once there huge parking fees and lucky not have your car broken into.

Some areas have decent views, but on the whole shopping centre is run down.

  6. Seeing first game 1949/50 season, I must have been aware of the City before then, because in my class at Cheddar Grove school was Barbara, daughter of Sid Kearney who played for City. She later became Barbara K or KAY a singer often on radio and Tv.

During my Drawing office apprenticeship at a well known Midland Road engineering factory, I worked with Ken Sage for a fair time. Later he was able to help in the survival of Bristol City when he owned the Window Company, Alusage.

During the construction of the Williams stand, I sat on the concrete steps as my father knew the builder.

Memories keep coming back so will have another post soon, hopefully.

What is worth pondering is that anyone who has been supporting us for over 42 years has been doing so for a third of the entire time the club has been in existence. If you can claim over 64 years you have done a half!

I must be one of those having been taken by my Uncle Tom, a St John Ambulance man, in the 1949/50 season.

Cannot remember the match but I know Arnold Rodgers, Dennis Roberts. George Lowery, Alec Eisenstrager, John Atyeo and many of the team were my idols in the following years. Always in the East End, but went in the side enclosures for the Reserve's games. Chasing a loose ball in front of the wooden stand, fell took skin off my knees but must have stayed to the end.

The packed crowds for the Rovers games were amazing, bells, whistles and rattles and marching bands at halftime.

Can remember Tom Burden arriving and he worked at Clark's Shoe factory.

Saw early floodlit match against a Scottish club, maybe East Fife or St Mirren, cant remember.

Arthur Milton was a cricketer who played as well and can remember the likes of Jimmy Hill running onto the pitch with his chin stuck out!

Lasted until the early 60's when moved to North Cornwall for work where I still live.

Next door farm belongs to Johnnie Brown, once of Argyle and Rovers fame and still meet him now and then.

Still follow online, but must admit my wife wonders why?

I bumped into a Gas supporter earlier who said Rovers are playing great football, crowds are massive and that they are taking thousands away?

Reminds me of my late father, when told Rovers were going to play on a Sunday. He replied they cannot play on a Saturday!

Only seen the goal and Quest, but what Semenyo gives you is the strength back to goal to roll his man off of his touch.  He is then too strong to be challenged without a foul.  It is one of the reasons I advocate him playing more central (many disagree with me, that’s cool, he hasn’t delivered there yet).  If he hides the ball and then looks to go back to the midfield the chance doesn’t come about.  But yesterday it was his move that created the goal, gave Weimann the chance to be the runner, and ultimately Scott times his run nicely.

A City winner in the 81st minute would seal the day then!

I'll accept 84th minute as pretty damn close. Had lunch at 'Boscastle Farm Shop' which was very fulfilling, returned home to find City drawing 20 mins from the final whistle, and then the winner by Martin to seal a good day!

Thanks to all for the emojis as well.  Thanks also to the 'Major' for the 'My Little Pony'!

  11. Today on BBC Transfer News

Paperwork, not points at Portman Road

Ipswich Town have signed winger Bersant Celina on a season-long loan from French side Dijon, pending international clearance.

Kosovo international Celina, 24, had a season-long loan spell at Ipswich in the 2017-18 campaign and becomes their 18TH signing of the summer transfer window.

Ipswich are 21st in League One, with no wins so far this season.
