I think that whether or not to offer Pearson a new contract is a really tough decision. In the autumn we weren't as bad as some said we were, and right now we're not as good as some think we are. Pearson's done a great job behind the scenes but the next 3 years are going to be under different financial conditions. He may well have been perfect for the rebuild and reset, but someone else may be best for the push for the top 6. I'd not blame anyone who thought it best to let Pearson see out his contract and then hand over a well run, well set club with a solid squad of players. Hand that to the right manager and we could fly. One things for sure - match results should be the final metric that we consider.

Last season it was announced at the end of March and renewals started on Monday 4th April.

That's interim results predicted to be on 28 Feb isn't it? Tbh Pop I don't know the NYSE listing rules at all. Given Man Utd's resources and advisers I'd be amazed if they've missed a formal deadline of any sort. I personally know some of their Cayman lawyers and they won't miss things like that.

I'm not pretending to know him or his motivations or desires at the time. However, right now the move does seem to have been good for all parties.

Exactly. The lad's played 93% of the maximum potential minutes he could have played since joining Pompey. 9 full 90 minute games in a solid League 1 side. What would he have played in that same time here? Maybe, maybe, a couple of cameo 10 minutes here and there. Correct decision from all parties to let him go.

Thanks and Appreciation From Rob Atkinson

Thanks for sharing, and well done for respecting his privacy in the past. Obviously I hope his operation and rehab go well and that he's back on the pitch as soon as possible. -
Suspect it's a case of Reading say they've complied with the BP, EFL reckon there's a chance they have not. So there's a review.

Absolutely possible. I do suspect tha ultimately Benarous would declare for Algeria. I don't think he's going to be in for the England team so think he'll take the Semenyo route of declaring for his second option.

"Hahahahahahaha!!! You mean you adhere to FFP!?"

Not much chat about the lad recently...but is he basically declaring for Algeria here? I've not checked if he's already fixed his national team btw so apologies to the Benarous mega-fans who already know. Also obviously I have to caveat that the title of this thread is a Google translate job so apologies to the French/Algerian speakers on here. Je suis desole.

Maybe not just Scott going in summer.

Thanks, and you even ignored the typo. -
Any club listed on a stock exchange will have to comply with local listing rules. Those rules will include strict requirements on the publication of accounts (and other "price sensitive" information). The consequences of missing those deadlines are severe, and in the age of computerised stock exchanges, often automatic. Suspension of trading, negative press, it's all quite serious. The HKSE is also one of the most prescriptive of the major exchanges. It's no surprise that Birmingham are punctual.

Norwich attendance given as 23,757. Last night given as 25,713. Both figures are actually "tickets sold" rather than "people through the turnstiles". For every home league game you can take off approx 2-3k STholders who don't turn up. Last night almost all of those who bought a ticket will have attended. So ok, maybe more like 4-5k more than Norwich, but it will have been a bigger difference than the 2k gap in official figures.
-
Yeh because in reality it was probably 5 or 6k more than the Norwich game.

As I've said multiple times: any young player who graduates from our academy and goes on to do well in professional football is a credit to our set up. Glad to see him having a great night.

I'm living under the belief that Scott and Kalas will be elsewhere next season. If they do stay then I'll be pleasantly surprised, but if they go then we will get a huge cash sum for Scott and a huge wage saving from Kalas. It's win win either way really. I've made my peace with it. As to the others, I think Pring and Tanner will still be with us. Both are contracted to the end of next season (plus the club has the option to extend), so I'd expect to hear some contract news on both of them some time in the next 12 months. Their contracts may well up following Pearson's own contract. Again his ends at the end of next season. We may see a situation where players wait to see what he does, and then the dominoes fall. Equally we may not and everyone may just look out for themselves. -
Firstly you're completely correct. Secondly, people are angry. The Premier League have taken them to a commission, the government is introducing a regulator, and people have mocked them relentlessly. "Too little, too late" maybe, but at least things are happening. Thirdly, however nefariously they have done it, you can't escape the fact that they've assembled a truly incredible squad of magnificent players. That squad can be the best team in the world whilst their owners and accountants connive to create the worst club in the world. Whether right or wrong that was the team we played against last night. That was the team that our players acquitted themselves against. Man City's time will come in the courts and under a regulator. Last night was a football match, and we played well.

One of those games where we're playing well - but even playing well means we're only hanging in there. To actually threaten, and even score, we need to play incredibly well. And even if it's 1-1 in ten minutes time...I mean just look at the difference between the benches to see how that last 20 mins would go. I'm proud of us, we've done well, but winning this from here will take a monumental effort of legendary proportion.
