  1. Or get themselves out of the tight position and into a position to make the pass.
  2. I absolutely love goals like that. What a ball from Scott, what a ball from Wells. Easy finish for Bell. Weathered a storm and then cracked that beauty in. Fantastic.
  3. RobinsTV suggesting it was a tactical change. Lovely pass from Sykes to give Scott the ball. Sykes is having a fun game today. Loose and unpredictable, but fun.
  4. Yeh hectic or frantic is how I'd describe it so far. I think we're good for the lead though - which Max has just preserved with a top save!
  5. True, true, I guess we just don't know what the add-ons are. Staying up? X starts? X goals in Y games? Could be anything. Although I agree an extra payment should they stay up is most likely. Equally there could be a payment due should they get relegated and then promoted again during his contract term. I think it's simplest to just hope he does well enough to get another big move, so giving us the sell-on kickback.
  6. Simple. Pray that Antoine scores in every game and they lose 2-1 everytime.
  7. Yeh was about to say that the bench is just so much stronger than our last league game which was: Bentley, Dasilva, Williams, King, Kadji, Taylor-Clarke, Bell.
  8. Lovely job. Last time I went was for a T20 match between Somerset and Middlesex. Rain delay from before the match meant we stayed in the pub until they announced that the game would actually go ahead. In the end it was declared it could start, but would be 9 over game! Cue us getting into the ground and, after an extra 3 pints in the pub, finally necking the bottle of wine we'd brought for 40 overs in the space of 18. Much Blackbird was sung that day.
  9. If the deal is that we beat Man City but don't win the FA Cup then I go league. However, I'd take an FA Cup trophy if the price was relegation. relegation and promotion comes and goes. An FA Cup trophy would live forever.
  10. Except at Lord's where you can take a bottle of wine, 4 cans or equivalent. Generally though Lord's tickets are a bit more.
  11. There's some interesting games elsewhere today. Brighton v Bournemouth at 3pm could see Semenyo get his first top flight minutes, and he could well be up against Webster in a battle of illustrious City alumni. Hull v Cardiff is a pretty big match up between two teams around us in the table. The result won't affect our position in the table today, but it's an intriguing game between two poor sides. Burnley v Norwich is a big game at 12:30. Hopefully Burnley smash Norwich to deflate their Wagner revival ahead of our home game against them next week.
  12. It's on ITV1. I believe they have ITV1 in Scotland.
  13. Expect to see Pring back in for Dasilva. I could also see Cornick start for one of Sykes, Bell or Wells. Kalas, Weimann and Mehmeti on the bench would be a very welcome trio of options for later in the game. Overall it's a tough game to call as I think all three results are equally likely. Hopefully we can nick the win with a bit of fortune.
  14. Oh my god they've done a whole thread of tweets about it. Making what should be a club website statement by way of tweets. Such professional. Much dignity.
  15. Welcome. Sorry to say I've never been to Deepdale and am not going this time. I have however been for a pint in The Old Vic next to the station before and after a game over at Blackburn Rovers. Hopefully I'll get there one day. You support a fine old club that I have a slight soft spot for (unless Johnson is winning dodgy penalties against us). If I had the power to select the promoted sides at the start of the season it would be our two clubs plus another. I hope you lose tomorrow.
  16. Completely corroborates my first impression of him from the short chat we had. He came across as old school but sensible, open, and in the mould of Gould. Thanks for sharing (and welcome back).
  17. This applies to league games only. This is what I pay when I come to AG (member price admittedly). When I take dad and my brother-in-law we go Dolman or Lansdown and yeh for a Gold game it's normally an average of just under £40 a ticket. It's expensive.
  18. Welcome to normal POTD pricing everyone.
  19. I'm genuinely quite excited, and I don't think it's often that I feel like that about Preston North End away. I think it's because the vibes are generally pretty good at the moment, and I've got that post-transfer deadline day glow. Pearson's press conference suggested that we might see all 3 new signings in the 18, and given the number of U23s we've been seeing recently I think that's correct. Kalas may return, unlikely to start but may get some minutes. That's a good boost to squad depth, as is the fact that Weimann's back training. Ultimately I hope to see some minutes from Mehmeti and/or Cornick and a decent away win!
  20. Ha. I refer you to the OP of this thread.
  21. Gould's last day was Tuesday. Alexander took over on Wednesday. Handover has basically been going on for the last two weeks.
  22. Yeh I thought we might get something this week. I'm surprised there's not even been a formal recognition that it was Gould's last day on Tuesday and Alexander has now taken over. Surprised, but not particularly disappointed. I think Alexander will continue Gould's "just quietly getting on with it" philosophy. If you search for interviews and stuff from his time at Palace there's really not very much at all. It's good. So long as he comes out at key moments - financial statement release, fan forum stuff, board reshuffles, investment or ownership changes etc, manager sacking/recruitment - then I think it's fine. This is a much less momentous, disruptive or even interesting than the last change in CEO. That's partly due to the egos and personalities involved, but it's because I get the feeling that this is a continuation of culture rather than a shift. I feel like the club recognise that, and so there's less fanfare. I guess there may well be something in the matchday programme for the Norwich home game. Ps. They've not filed the AP01 change of director forms on companies house yet so there's clearly no rush (they have 14 days to do that).
  23. It's possible. We did 1.5 PPG over games 2 - 12 of the season, but keeping that up over 18 games isn't something we've done for quite a while now. It's not probable.
  24. Quite. I'm not sure people realise the level of improvement required to get over 60 points. I admire the optimism of some on this thread, but anything in the high 50's is a very good achievement from where we are now.
