  1. Should be close today. Certainly I expect both teams to score. Ps. Please can the EFL reinstate the rule that teams have to wear different coloured shorts. There's far too much white on show here.
  2. Oh I agree. The greatest threat to English football right now is the increasing ownership of football clubs by American private equity investors. I didn't know how long ago Barton's conviction was. I just know that under the current EFL O&D test if you have an unspent conviction for certain offences then that is one way you can fail. Sounds like BArton has a) spent his conviction and b) probably was not convicted of a crime that is considered by the O&D test. Assuming all that he'd probably pass.
  3. Guess he'd pass then. Which tells you all about the state of the O&D test really.
  4. Are his convictions entirely spent? If not then there's a chance he'd actually fail the EFL Owners and Directors test.
  5. Are any of them discussing Plymouth's financial results, published today? Some starters to get the conversation going could be the following lines taken from the accompanying report: Other highlights include: "Turnover in the year was £11.3m – the highest the club has ever achieved and 73% greater than the revenue generated in the 17/18 season." Or "The average attendance at Home Park was an impressive 13,130 during 21/22, compared to 10,413 back in 17/18. This coincided with improvements to fan experience at Home Park and also the first full season using the Mayflower Grandstand." Or "The Argyle Superstore and online retail also generated record sales of £1.2m - nearly £0.5m (62%) more revenue than in the 2017/18 season." Or "Argyle TV launched and in its first year of operation generated £0.4m of net income." I mean I assume their results will be similar given these are two League 1 clubs. So maybe they'll just sit back and then blow these results out of the water.
  6. Yep found it myself actually (sometimes I remember that google exists), and also the Rob Davies piece on the Guardian - looks like he got to Holt first and bagged an "Exclusive" on it. The whole thing stinks.
  7. Interesting. Which journalist? As you say I'd hope we don't accept it. I also wonder if we had something similar to this as part of the Mansion Bet and Dunder deals?
  8. Will anyone manage this before the real life attempt succeeds?
  9. It looks like the Club gets a portion of the losses rather than 100% of losses. They get "100% of the EFL Digital Share of Losses". That will not be 100% of the total losses and as we don't know exactly what the "EFL Digital Share" is and we don't know exactly how "Losses" are defined either, it's hard to say whether £0.00 is surprising or not. We'd need to see the contract to which this statement is related in order to see just how much Clubs might be benefiting from their encouragement of gambling. But, you're correct that this looks like Clubs get a fixed and long-term financial benefit from advertising gambling products on their websites or during their games. Which is, as you say, pretty disgusting.
  10. When I get this issue I just call and tell them which seats I want. Tell them the issue. If enough people call about this they might change it. You might have to wait on hold for a bit, and the person you speak to may be a bit stroppy and may tell you to do it online.
  11. Sorry NTTDS it's not available any longer.
  12. Not sure where or who you heard that from, but honestly that's not how it works at all. Yes clubs submit their designs to the EFL - around about this time of the season - but the EFL just check those against their regs. They don't then instruct teams on what kits to wear at specific games. Match strips are decided on a per match basis about a week in advance. Home teams and away teams submit what they want to wear via an EFL portal. It's then down to the individual officials at each game to rule on what teams wear. It's not an EFL decision. Ps. Red v green would be worse than blue v green. No match should ever feature red v green.
  13. To be fair, that's probably their best choice. The mistake they've made is in designing three kits that are all dark. One of the away or third kit should be white, fluoro yellow, even a pale pink, grey or peach would give them that option to contrast against another team in a dark colour.
  14. I've been driving. Didn't watch the game. It's Ipswich who are to blame, always the onus in my opinion for the away team to make a sensible decision on kit. Everyone knows Argyle play in green, so they are very prone to issues. Away teams just above to be sensible. Which kit did Ipswich wear?
  15. Complain to TV company. This summer. It's a stupid rule change and has caused a few issues.
  16. I didn't specify, but I meant recent history rather than out average position since 1894. I completely have the opinion that no club "has a place" and that all should be able to rise or fall. None of my posts dispute that. I also don't think we'll be relegated anytime soon. I also don't think Pearson will take us up. I think the most likely short term future is continuing to be a Championship team. But OP's question was about which way we will eventually exit the Championship when we do. I hope it will be promotion. I think it will be relegation.
  17. Precisely, and when it's all taken to pieces and sold or retired or injured until it's just a memory...then it's another 3 years to assemble an echo of this team. I've got everything crossed that we get some luck, some ******* penalties, some opponents decimated by injury or their own sales, anything to give us the fair wind we need to first nick 6th, and then to go on to glory at Wembley in May. Is any of that likely? No. Possible? Yes. Our saving grace is that PNE, QPR, Luton, Millwall, Swansea, and those other middling sides are in the boat with us But, to OP's question: relegation - not this season, probably not next season - is in my opinion the more likely final destination. It's a forum. The ability to discuss is implied and space is provided below the byline. The adults are already doing it.
  18. There's one other way we go up. We plan well, and get lucky. It's unlikely though, so yeh I went relegation as well. *Any other non-parachute payment club.
  19. I think it's actually an interesting question. We're in a good position right now, but not really so good that we can seriously expect promotion this season. Our overall situation is fragile as well. FFP, young talent leaving, older stalwarts fading and retiring, possible ownership changes, or the manager or coaches leaving. All very real threats that would affect our prospects of promotion. It's more likely imo that one or two of those things does happen rather than none happens. There is also our historical tendancy to be a 2nd/3rd level club rather than a 1st/2nd level. Our general tendancy to finish lower in this division than higher. Relegation is also easier than promotion. I think realistically in the long term relegation is more likely than promotion.
  20. Oh it's that ball boy. Given the obvious magnitude of the ball boy's intervention I assumed it must have been one more closely involved with the passage of play. Yeh I'd probably blame the lackadaisical defenders rather than the impetuous ball boy.
  21. So the ball boy isn't even real. Incredible.
  22. And they didn't really do anything last season until they signed a Premier League loanee...let's see Joey repeat that trick twice. I dare him.
