  1. So he lost his 2 best players and then couldn't get a tune out of the rest of the squad in League 2. So what happens if he loses 2 of his best players in the summer at City then? Not having a dig at anyone on OTIB, though I seem to ruffled a few feathers. I just don't get how Manning should be anywhere near the best option for the City job. Or is it that he's viewed as the best of a bad bunch?
  2. Of course you are right Mr P. Nobody and I mean nobody is going to convince me that Liam Manning is the right man for the job or anywhere near being an upgrade.
  3. Despite the noises coming from Oxford, I've got a really bad feeling this bloke is going to get the job. From NP to someone who got sacked from MK Dons and manages a team in League one. How depressing. The boys will be doing cartwheels of joy up at the HPC when they get told.
  4. I've read this over and over and I didn't know where to start a reply for ages. I've come to the conclusion that you posted this to get some nibs from fellow OTIB members. If that is the case, congratulations. I have given you not just a nib but I've gone hook, line and sinker! The Pink Un would be more apt. (one for the kids).
  5. Good Post Spike. Fair play to you wearing a City shirt in Cardiff. F@ck that for a game of soldiers! I'm not sure I agree with all of your post and I'm sure you haven't posted it and expect everyone to agree with all of it. What I do agree with and I'm sure so many others do is share is the pure exasperation of the situation JL and co have put us in. It's not just that though is it? The fact is that JL and Co and those before before him keep f@ckin up on gigantic scale and expect us to lap it up. We aren't SAGS and we won't just accept crap interviews as fact and true. A happy clapper or deciding not to go anymore and everything in between. I may not be happy about someone else's stance but I tend to accept it because it is their choice. As it happens, I can't go tomorrow but this terrible feeling of exasperation would still not put me off going to our matches. I really fear for the next appointment whoever that will turn out to be. For no other reason than whatever is trotted out, I can't see past NP. He is and was the most suitable Manager for us, for the next 2+ years. I'm starting to ramble now but I wanted to post to say that I feel your pain and I'm sure many others do as well. Stay safe over there in Cardiff.
  6. I've not heard that for years. I laughed when I read that. Been sang so many times in years gone by. One of my personal faves was directed at Johnny Byrne playing for Sunderland. He ended up sticking at least 1 finger up to the East End. Days!!
  7. I don't think Mousinho is a goer either. However, quality of stadium (have you been to Fratton Park?) and training ground ( PFC is not particularly good) aren't the reasons why.
  8. 2nd in League One is absolutely poles apart compared with the Championship and a sustained effort of regularly competing in and around the top 6 of the Championship.
  9. Doesn't count I'm afraid. Terry is now officially a conjoined twin with Mick McCarthy. Hmmm.... Mick McCarthy. Has he been mentioned yet? (only joking mind).
  10. The 5 Pillars did pop up on an NP related Topic earlier in the week. I replied on the lines of 'I'm logging off now before I post something I will regret'.
  11. I'd rather Curtis Stigers. Here we go again with the Same as usual. I thought it would be a Lifetime Together with NP but then I thought After you've gone, I wonder why there can be nobody else. I'll get my coat! (not a Curtis Stigers song).
  12. I'd rather Bernard Manning. Apart from him being dead but let's not dig up the past. (apologies, I've been depressed and listening to The Smiths on a loop since Sunday afternoon).
  13. I live a few miles from you. The train to Southampton is an @rse ache. Usually about 3 hours at least one change. What time do the trains run until coming back?
  14. Let's face it. Whoever it is and whoever the assistant or coaching team is. It will polarise the fanbase. The main reason being there are no standout candidates apart from NP and they and he would never have that. And so, my long suffering fellow City fans. We will ultimately, accept whoever the new incumbents are and get behind the team. It's what we do and I can't see that changing unless the hierarchy go full Nuclear and make a Pulis type of appointment.
  15. That may be true. However, lets have some context with those Stats. I won't go over the same facts that so many have posted on here since Sunday. However, you can't compare a 63 game ratio versus NP's ratio without acknowledging the sh!t show NP inherited. It's nothing short of brilliant work to get the 32% ratio under those circumstances. We will never know what that ratio would be looking like if he was allowed to have finished off the work that he had done to date i.e. at the end of a contract extension.
  16. *When a new manager is rumoured, you can frame any set of pros and cons to suit your argument, but none of us know how they will do. Some click, some don’t. I've copied and pasted your last sentence above Fevs. I totally agree but even agreeing with this it just shows how much of a gamble and massive (wrong IMO) decision it was to sack NP. So we are banking in the hierarchy at the club to firstly, make the right choice of Manager or Head Coach. Then once they have done that, make the right choices moving forward to back it all up. I'm sorry but it is too much of a leap of faith for me to think they will do any of these things.
  17. As I said. You, they and anyone can talk about wanting to get to the Prem. Talk is cheap. Very cheap in the case of the Board, JL and Tinns. They haven't been clear about it, they have just talked about it. The action you speak of has nothing to to do with action to get in to the Prem. The action was taken because they didn't find NP to their liking because he knew and knows that this lot are clueless. 5 Pillars !!! I think I need to log off for a while before I start posting stuff that I will regret!
  18. Of course we all have our points of view, it's the whole purpose of OTIB. How on earth can anyone hold the view that we are 'gunning for the Prem'. That just isn't true. Saying it doesn't make it true. There are no indicators of gunning for the Prem. None. 'Board wanted more'. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. If the Board wanted more then back your Manager not throw him to the dogs. We were doing just fine and I think it was only going to get better under NP. We didn't need anyone else but now we need to replace him and I can't see any upgrade on NP. The Board should be taking the heat for this and they aren't. We are starting from square one or worse. The only way that isn't the case is if they recruit from within i.e. someone who already knows the club ethos. God forbid that happens because what we have within is just a disaster waiting to happen.
  19. Cidercit1987 you are giving this lot far too much credit! There is no way they would have ever thought about that.
  20. I remember NP saying most of this recently i.e. within the last couple of weeks. So if all of this was already happening and over 2 years in to that work. Why then start again with somebody that hasn't got a clue about the ethos of the club. whichever way this is dressed up, it is complete rubbish.
  21. Just not as Head Coach. It's the type of left field appointment that the hierarchy could make!
  22. I'm sure Mark Ashton could give him details of some of the courses that he has attended.
