Well, it might be a sh!te argument if I was actually arguing something 🧐. St. George was a Turk and never visited England. And I don't want to break this to you, but he didn't actually kill a dragon in Libya 🤫. I'm absolutely fine with that. I'm confused why that would even be an issue? But thanks for the unnecessarily patronising comment.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I'm as patriotic as they come. However, this is yet another case of people jumping on the old bandwagon (like the arms conference at Ashton Gate). This is just the next thing to be angry about. They have changed the St. George's cross on the back of the shirt before, but nobody said a peep. Why is everyone getting so outraged by it this year? Maybe it's a sign of the times? I think it's a stupid thing to have done. This isn't just Nike's fault, but the FA's. I'm not sure how changing our country's flag makes it inclusive? Would they have done that to another country's flag like Saudi Arabia? More questions than answers, but am I gonna get my knickers in a twist about it or get "triggered" (god how I hate that word)? Not at all. I just won't buy the shirt. I'll still wave my St Georges Cross.

All I did was respond to your post: 'St George wasn't even English'.

    The end.

If you're going to quote the story about Genoa and Richard the Lionheart's fleet sheltering there, that is likely a myth. No contemporary account confirms that or indeed that "English knights"(most of whom would've been Gascons not English) ever wore the St George cross during the Crusades.  The first mention of English soldiers having a cross on their shields comes a century after the last Crusade, during the Baron's War and that was just a simple + not linked to St George.  St George didn't become the patron saint of England until 1552 (St Edmund had been that during Medieval times) and the St George flag wasn't used by English army and naval forces until the 17th Century.

No, I wasn't going to quote that story or any other story.

If people want to find out how St George became the patron Saint of England. It's very easy to find.

OK just to be clear on this it’s only the colours that matter, yes? Not the form? So if they’d kept the flag red but made the lines curved instead of straight that would have been OK yeah?

Just need to check the rules on what we’re supposed to be offended by.

Is there a yawn emoji available?

It's a sh!te argument which usually gets banded about on or around St George's Day. If you don't know the story behind why St George is England's Patron Saint then perhaps you should.

Any flag on any England Football kit should be as it is without any artistic licence required or needed.

Last time Stoke got relegated from this league on Sky it was utter carnage vs Man City, who also went down?

I still haven't got over Stoke fans pulling moonies at us as they were getting out of the coach park when they beat us at Wembley.

We were stuck and couldn't move for bloody ages.

Not that I hold grudges but I hope they go down.

  6. I normally dread the last day of the season because the thought of not being able to watch my beloved City or wait nervously on Soccer Saturday to see how our games unfold.

This season, I can't wait for it to be over. What a dreadful few months it has been and more to come unless a trigger or 3 gets pulled before the end of the season!

It's now or never, I want to see him as City manager, just to live that experience, you know we all secretly want it!

I can see Warnock being the man to take City to the play off places, or at least give us a season never to forget!

Let's make fan power force it to happen.

Or have I just lost the plot and maybe suffering from temporary insanity?  I'd take anyone instead of bland vanilla man.

Red, I think you've left the top off the Pritt Stik. Screw the lid back on, open some windows and the fumes will soon clear and your head will return to normality. 🙃

I think the thing here is the aspect of “real time”. It’s one thing to see, another to react.

Put it this way - we’re told Liam is constantly up until 3am watching videos (no, not those videos). I’d imagine that post Ipswich he watched the game and then what happened on the quadruple sub, and the obvious moves hit him. So, if in “NFL” style he had breaks between play after an opponent changes, he’d probably figure it out.

The issue is that he prepares hugely. But when a change happens, he can’t react - however I’d bet a dime to a dozen he’d be able to tell you exactly what went wrong today.

12/1 odds are quite generous SD.

I think playing Swansea will actually suit the players we have.

They have a lot of possesion and play with a high line I believe?

They do like to play with possession and they do like to play a high line.

However, they and their management team will look to adapt to situations when the above is not best suited to the game they are in. In short, they have a Plan B and Plan C, so they can adapt.

This is where LM has been so disappointing. We are so predictable and when it isn't working we know the changes he will try and implement (such as they are) so if we know it then you can be damn sure the opposition management and players know it.

Imagine if we ever snuck in via the the playoff's.

Doesn't bare thinking about. Gives me shivers thinking about who would be responsible for recruiting and dealing with the money.

Almost a case of being careful for what you wish for isn't it? Something, we really don't need to be concerned about because we are so far off it ever happening.

However, if it did happen. I think the club would have a similar approach to Sheff Utd. I think they would spend very little (in relative terms) take whatever was coming to them i.e. getting battered for the most part of the season. Get relegated and take the Parachute Payments. Then go again in the Championship the following season with a bigger budget than most of the other teams.

  11. If someone had told me there would be 4 pages on a thread with the title Relegation Battle Threat back on 31st October 2023. I think a call to the Funny Farm would be in order.

However, here we are and we are all looking at the least number of points needed from the remaining 11 games to stay up. Utter madness and all of the club's own doing. What is worse is that the same people that put us in this mess go MIA all of a sudden. I never wanted Manning here but I don't blame him for going for and getting the job. Now we have invisible and silent hierarchy and a Coach that is clearly out of his depth that doesn't sound particularly inspiring or even building a siege mentality.

If we do stay up and in my opinion it is still a big if. Then there needs to be big changes over the summer and if there isn't then we are in big trouble and if we are in a dog fight from day one of the new season then you need a squad, management and leaders with big hearts and fight. As things are right now, we don't have any of these things.

  12. I've mainly been reading this topic over the past couple of days and haven't posted much on OTIB lately. However, it is pretty depressing reading. I'm certainly not having a dig at any posts or contributor here. Just shows what a mess we are in and the mess that could get worse. A lot worse.

There is the other side of the coin where everything falls in to place and we have a great summer, pre-season and we look the Mutts Nuts come August.  As a City fan of over 50 years, I just can't see that happening.

Anyway, myself and others like me have been through more depressing times than the current times. See you all at the Gate tomorrow.

  13. I can't be sure but I think the general consensus is that Liam pre Cardiff interview wasn't particularly impressive? (sarcasm is difficult to put across in typed form).

I really hope that if we do get 3 points at home (no sarcasm) then Liam doesn't do that embarrassing Klopp impression to S82 / South Stand. Such a cringe. Though he hasn't had the opportunity to do it much.

    Just a few highlights:

    - Says he didn’t get it right tactically against QPR

    - Against Sheffield was more around the basics and didn’t see much wrong with the gameplan. Team got too emotional and weren’t controlled

    - “It makes me laugh because 12 days ago everything was great”

    - Wouldn’t change any of his processes or the way he works

    - Thinks he has had to adapt because of the players but didn’t say much specific

    - Believes prior to the last two games there was only one poor performance out of 20

    - Thinks some fatigue from the period just got through

    - Can give all the information to the players but they need to step up on pitch

    - Delighted with Dickie/Vyner generally and wouldn’t focus on last week

    - Stokes looking good in training- Murphy some way off and likely to be pre season next year “You’ll need to speak to the medical team”

    - Naismith in squad, Twine out, James a doubt

    Thanks for the summary Silvio.

Some of those points makes him look like he is delusional !!

It feels like our Devon fanbase is growing every year. I might be on the same train, especially now you’ve mentioned Natch!

I see you are in Teignmouth and our train stops there on Saturday which is the one that gets in to BTM at about 10:15. You are welcome to a can of Natch if you are on the same train.

I know we've seen some shite under LM but it is still relatively early days and when it has worked, it has worked really well. We've got to stay behind him and the team for now, especially going into a derby. Not much of the season left, let's stay with them. COD and Fam... we have to keep them two quiet. I couldn't cope with one of them scoring a winner 🤣

Enjoy your day mate and hope the eight of you see that crate off and bring the noise :D

Cheers Gav. The crate is just for me and one other. The rest of them can get their own 😃
