Here’s every single Mark Ashton negotiated transfer (perm and loan)…none of them anything to do with LJ (apart from the ones in 20/21 - Holden)….hmmmm!

Loans come at a cost too, don’t forget.

Fees need a recent update, but they are all in a very good ball-park (I’ve since updated from an impeccable source).

Brilliant report that! Unequivocal proof if you needed it.
This is why Bristol City is in such a mess in 2022. If anyone thinks sacking NP will improve things are deluded. Ashton and Johnson supported by an owner who took his eye of the ball.

This is why City have a difficult season ahead.

One reason why I love listening to the blue few. A mate of mine seems to think we now lose 30+ million per year, no matter what gets explained that's what happens in his head. Then we have others regarding a huge figure that SL has apparently just peed away over the years, it's as if he has nothing to show for it whatsoever. Add in (assuming it all goes ahead) the new plans for a basketball arena, hotel and housing and even with the outlay for that, then it would be interesting if they do lose anything at all.

Someone did a financial Bristol Sport accrual (estimate obviously) on here a while ago to its worth and think it is safe to say SL will do OK financially when he sells up.

  3. @Kid in the Riot I follow your posts as I know you are ITK at City. Infact you have been right on several occasions in the last few years when many ridiculed you on here at times. Your last sentence is the bit that I have to agree with.

SL has failed to deliver a team capable of Premiership football. Got close yes, but ultimately failed.
The Ashton/Johnson failure will be his legacy amongst most City fans, rather than the ground, which is great but ultimately it is what happens on the pitch for me. A real shame.

When you stick your singing section into a corner where most clubs put away supporters

When you give the away fans a whole end

And when the songs our section sings are clever little compositions rather than simple chants that the whole ground can sing, we will never get a good atmosphere

In any other ground when Wiemann scores you would hear something like

na na na, na na na, aaa Andy Weimann. The whole ground would join.

What do we get, clever little songs for Dasilva and Massengo because we like the song.

I wonder how the likes of Bentley, Scott or Martin feel when they star, and barely get a cheer.

For god sake get a good and simple song for each player and sing it to the roof tops.

Which is why the Tom Thumb song was sung by everyone. Every fan knew it!
What you get today is tosh IMO. But hey, that’s progress?

It's true, atmosphere = results. This is why we look down upon the Few but look up to Bournemouth.

You go to away grounds with a bit of edge - the Old Den, Molyneux etc and it really is a 12th man. Work takes me around the country and everyone speaks of Bristol City as being a “quiet lot”. Why is it?

Sure the new AG ground is relatively crap for atmosphere but why? One of my views is that there are a lot of “happy clapper/tourist City fans” nowadays, but ST sales are still good? Many go every home game.

The club lacks a bit of passion IMO and that translates through the team at times. Funny old game.

Seemed to me, that during the 80's, 90's, and early 2000s, the songs remained pretty similar all the time, and most people knew and joined in with them.

You can pretty much guarantee that the only song that everyone will join in with now, is when the pressure is building up for us to score and the whole ground belts out "come on you reds".

At some point, and I don't know if it was influence of trying to be like the European Ultras, or whether we just want to be seen as different, a number of new songs have been introduced that a fair few of our fans just don't know. For example, there's a song currently being sung with the words (or words to the effect) of "don't go out tonight unless your red and white..." - or something along those lines..........I've no idea about the rest of the lyrics. Then theres the other end of the scale where theres the most depressing chant, along the lines of "Ooooooh Bristol City, lala la la, oooo, lala la la oooo" over and over again. It's really flat and uninspiring.

I sit in the middle of the South Stand, and believe it or not, songs do start off from there, but when they get to the singing section, I never hear the singing section joining in with them. Whether that's because they're currently wrapped up in their own songs I've no idea. It just seems to me that section is trying too hard to be different.

I've no problem with the singing section and there atmosphere, they give it a good go, it just doesn't fit in with the rest of our fans.

    Agreed.

For example back in the 80s, the lot I went with, we would always belt out the Tom Thumb song. Everyone sang and got behind it, quite often in a pub outside the away ground we went to.

Was a real rallying call to City fans, and sounded bloody good when you got a few singing it. Miss all that nowadays.

  7. The club probably does need fresh faces, new ideas so a new owner might work (gamble though). Currently, BCFC as a club is limping along. Would rather wait until a fully fit squad is available before talk of relegation but the early signs are not good. Maybe it is time for a new owner as it looks like SL has lot his appetite for BCFC.

But things are nowhere near as bad as the days of the Ashton Gate 8 - most on here will have no idea how bad it was then.

This clip provides the full context. Club definitely for sale at the right price.

It's strange he's trying to go down the "bring investment on board" route. I think he's living in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks someone's going to invest £10s millions and not want  complete control.

Spot on. Unequivocally the club is FOR SALE. Only a matter of time.

  9. 20,000 City - don't think so.

It Sunderland score 1st, it will be like a library again for sure.

All the noise, will be coming from the Mackems.

Lets hear some noise from the “Lansdown Library” for once.

  10. Just want to say that Stoney will be the main man on Saturday but don’t forget all the others who have passed away down the City. Like most on here, I have lost some really good mates over the years and City games just ain’t the same without them. Ricky M from Bath, Divvy, Ronnie to name three who I personally knew well. Many more I know. RIP lads.
We were a great football family back in the day.
I know they will be looking down on City on Saturday.

    COYRs.

Decent following which is why I'm surprised they haven't sold out yet for their first away game back in the championship

Personally can't stand their supporters, they're up their own arses like Leeds and Villa supporters, they believe their own hype

(Ps cracking username if you have named it after the song?)

Forget the politics but SLF were a brilliant band.

Not taking the piss but am surprised that they haven't sold out by now

Great following that! Haway the lads!
Not many clubs fans will travel as well as Sunderland this season. Proper football club is Sunderland. Had a Mackem stay with us for nearly 8 years Monday to Friday. As a season ticket holder, he drove back for every midweek home game and then drove through the night back to south Bristol to be in work for 8am next day.
Decent folk up North and generally they know their football in my experience.
