Cowboy song was always my fave. My Irish wife knows them from when she booked them for her school dance circa 1969 in Dublin. She says they were called Orphanage at the time.

Cowboy Song - My favourite too, along with Romeo and the Lonely Girl. A song Phil Lynott wrote for Gary Moore - 'For all his good looks there were scars that he took'.

Excellent band, Hard-Fi, and a good bunch of lads. In about 2004, I and a band I was in at the time played with them at a joint music industry showcase at the Camden Barfly, one of those 'next big thing' events.

And hey, guess what? Hard-Fi became the next big thing! And we.....didn't ☹️

That's brilliant - What a story to be able to tell!! 🤠

    They're playing Bristol tonight.

  3. I ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon yesterday.  A brutal course around the hills of Yorkshire but the best experience I've had running nineteen marathons. The people of Leeds were brilliant and the support between all runners was amazing. Passing Kevin Sinfield pushing his mate Rob was incredibly humbling and brought tears to my eyes. Standing watching Kevin at the finishing line carrying Rob across, I don't think there were any dry eyes in the stadium - I feel so fortunate to have been there to see it. The love both men have for one another gives you faith in humanity - We all need a friend like Kevin Sinfield in our lives.

Running the London marathon in April, any tips? Aiming for under 4 hours but that's a dream at the min, to not walk is another aim!!!

    any advice welcome

I ran London last year - October.  Was hoping for sub 4 hours and came in just over 4.

I found it difficult to get going the first few miles.  There are so many runners that you find yourself dodging in and out.  The crowds are great throughout the 26 miles.  However the last 3 miles or so, there are that many people in the crowds that you are running through a wall of noise.  This did wipe me out a bit as I just wanted to keep my head together and get to the end, at that point.

It's also worth mentioning - At the finish you are steered through to St James's Park.  I'd suggest to avoid dizziness and so forth, make sure you have plenty of refuelling in your drop bag as it took me over 2 hours to exit the park and get to the underground station.  The crowds are huge and you're effectively kettled through to the exits in stages.

It is a great day - Hope you have a brilliant race.  As @Rob kmentioned - Build slow and you'll be fine!!
