Gow's first game was at Charlton last match of 1969-70 season. I guess that there weren't many City fans at the Valley that day.

Similar ending to this season. 5 defeats and three draws and we finished 14th in Second Division. Not much has changed!

The game in which he came to prominence was the 1st game of the following season, 1970/71, when we beat Sunderland 4-3.  Played an absolutely stormer iirc.

  2. James and Williams together was a mistake.  I understand that with two rookie centre backs he wanted to have experience in front of them, but the knock on effect was playing Knight at No 10, a role which clearly doesn’t suit him.

The irony was that Roberts, and particularly Tanner, looked assured at centre back, which allowed him to bring on Mehmeti for Williams later on.

Knight along side James, with Twine at 10, and Mehmeti wide left should have been the starting point.

  3. The problem is stats are easily manipulated and can be used to support just about any point of view.

QPR to Ipswich 4 games, 0 points, we definitely going to get relegated

Leicester to Blackburn, 4 games, 10 points, the prem here we come.

I remember in the early days of wind farm development, some amateur psychologist did a study down in Cornwall trying to prove the negative impact of the wind turbines on the local populace and came up with the stat that 14 of the 15 local resident suffered depression due to the installation of the wind farm.

As was pointed out, since the psychologist didn’t do a comparative study beforehand it’s quite possible that before the wind farm was erected all 15 of the residents were depressed and the wind farm had actually cheered one of them up.

you pays your money and you chooses your stat.

Remember seeing the original deal details, and thought it alluded to this.

Question becomes whether RTV has enough benefit for overseas (and VPN) alone to continue being its own service or not.

IIRC each clubs’ TV service will be able to show games to international viewers that are also being shown on SKY.  So for example, if our game with Cardiff is selected by, SKY if will also be able available to international subscribers on RTV ( and those with a VPN)

  5. I think he goes into  the summer with one season remaining of his contract.  It will be interesting to see if the club offers him something this summer or lets him run his contract down.  I get the impression, and it’s my personal opinion, that he thinks he’s better than he actually is.  I see him as an average championship player and can’t see there being a long queue of clubs desperate to sign him.   Happy to see him resign, but won’t be a disaster if he doesn’t.

  6. Remember him more as a player than a manager.  Tough tackling right back who played in a good Spurs team.  Think I’m correct in saying he played against us in the 1970 League Cup semi final games.

  7. Palmer is a real talent, but if you’re going to play Foden at No 10 with Bellingham and Rice in central midfield, where do you play Palmer?  I suppose he could play on the left of Kane, with Saka on the right, but I can’t see Southgate having guts to pick so many naturally gifted players.

  8. Our attendances are upper mid table, the playing budget is upper mid table and lo and behold are league position is upper mid table.

The holy grail is to find a manager who can get the club to over perform by 10 to 15%.  I believed Nige was on the way to doing that, the Lansdowns didn’t.

Whether under Manning the sum will be greater than the sum of the parts, only time will tell.  Personally I don’t think judging him over the next 6 games is particularly helpful.  Let him have a full preseason and see how we go between the start of the season and the 2nd international break.  Then I believe we can  come to some more meaningful conclusions.

    And that's my point.

I'd say the main thing Haaland can do over Kane is use his pace to latch onto through balls, however Man City have stopped playing to that strength of his this season, for some reason. It means Haaland and Man C have been less effective as a result.

Looked a different team tonight without Haaland.  Foden as the main man came up with a master class performance.

You know what this means - players not going up to first team level so we can have the glory of winning the U18 league…

Despite the defeat, good to see Micky looking chipper.

Not the best left back we’ve ever had, but definitely a fan’s favourite.

    And we got him cheap.
